  1. Hi ladies, I'm back from my dec 20 Jamaica wedding! Rashel Edwards did my makeup as well as my brides and I can't express enough how AMAZING of a job she did!!!!!! She is beyond professional and such a sweetheart! But more importantly her work is seriously something to brag about!!!! I lovedddd my makeup! Ill do a review on everything soon and post pictures so you can see her work! Def one of the best decisions I made regarding this wedding, her and my photographer Dwayne Watkins! Review coming soon.

  2. yes, mine doesnt include it. the 20pp - was that just at the airport? so i dont have to worry about purchasing before hand? I know you have been there before so you know the drill! the hotel can arrange a private transfer but is $112 which is a little too expensive for a 10 min car ride
Yes that price is from the airport. You can try to talk them down as well lol I would double check with your travel agent. Most of them do include transportation in the price or they can add it to each package price for $10-20 each. Something like that

thanks. is that all you used? i've seen other brides use a detailed hour by hour timeline, so the dj knows when everything is going on (like toast, dance, etc). how did your timeline for everything work out for you? is there anythign you would have added or changed? sorry for all the ?'s, i'm a month away so def trying to get everything done :-)

awww love the pics! i just left from seawind, went there to figure out everything. i see you did the chuppa (whatever it's called, where you stood underneath on the beach at the ceremony). do you remember how much they charged you for that? when i went they were preparing for a wedding and the couple were using one of the gazebos on the beach. it was initially not even an option but when i saw it in person it didn't look bad.

  5. So glad to hear I made a good decision on switching from Iberostar to Secrets!! I'm super excited to get more planning underway!! When is your big day? Are you bringing in any outside vendors? I'd love to hear more about your wedding!
Congrats to you too! You did great picking secrets. It's beautiful. It's more secluded and romantic yet everyone will truly enjoy it and remember a great wedding. My big day dec 20. I have outside vendors for flowers, photography and hair/makeup. I'm actually having it at Seawind beach club which is on the same property as secrets. We are staying at secrets wild orchid and absolutely love it. We decided to have it at Seawind because we can rent out the entire place, they allow kids there, more options for wedding planning and food, and more importantly we can stay at secrets and walk right to Seawind. They share the same property. I'm using Dwayne Watkins for photography, jan flowers for decor, and rashel Edwards for makeup. Our photographer is costly but his work is amazing so I def think its worth it. I'm bringing a lot of decor myself, and material for draping since I wanted certain colors.

I was very picky about budget and my choice of hotel and overall secrets was a Little more pricey than I wanted but was worth it and still not way too much. Also I researched iberostar resorts and also liked them however their wedding packages are much worse than secrets. And more expensive. They did not include alot and I also really wanted my reception to be private and on the beach which is not an option at iberostar unless you pay like $5000 to rent their restaurant. Also iberostar just seems too big with too many people.

So far I have about 35 guests! Most of my closest friends and family are coming and its true that some people will not come however I have found that its not necessarily the total cost that determines that. People will or wont come and I wouldnt worry too much cause a couple hundred wont be the deciding factor. Another thing I did was gave my guests the option to stay 3, 4, or 5 nights depending on their budget which also helps. But yes work with a travel agent as my guests are paying less than half of what the pricing on tgeir website is. And it helps cause my guests only paid $100 deposit ti reserve tgeir room and the rest isnt due til February!

yes i agree with you!!! we did great by picking secrets! :-)

I have been researching the Iberostar chain. Did you look into them at all? You are DEF saving TONS of money! That is GREAT! Your prices are very good for your guests too! How many people do you have booked to go down for the wedding?

i went to all 3 iberostar locations and secrets this year (on my hunt for a wedding location). iberostar grand was beautiful, adults only! they have a gorgeous entry and staircase. iberostar suites is nice as well, and beach was the one i liked the least in decor and overall look compared to the other two (iberostar beach the cheapest also). they are all located next to eachother in that order. im pretty sure i still have pricing for both iberostar and secrets if you need it.

secrets is beautiful and much smaller than iberostar, it's secluded on its own peninsula. i'm going again this weekend to finalize some stuff. there are a few girls who created planning threads that show pictures of secrets.

I'm trying to decide if the resort I'm thinking about picking is too pricey for my guests. How much do their weddings end up costing? I'm still up in the air with all the decisions to make! Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

I agree with @krisf1986 , it depends on how many nights and which room you get. the best thing to do is check with a travel agent, i used wright travel (the preferred travel agent on this site) and Babs is awesome to work with! she got us a great deal on hotel from thurs to friday in Dec, under $600 per person (flight seperate). At the end of the day, secrets will be a little more pricier than other hotels but it is a 5 star all inclusive adults only resort so you get what you pay for! it's a gorgeous hotel. There is Sunset Beach next door which is definetly cheaper but it's not as nice as Secrets. it's also older. at the end of day i'd suggest you choose about 3 resorts that you and your fiance love, and narrow it down from there as far as the packages they offer for weddings. you can also get the travel agent to help you on pricing for hotel accomadation. Me personally, i wouldn't pick something cheaper for the simple fact that at the end of the day, not everyone will be able to attend anyways, so make sure you and your fi love the place that you'll forever remember as your wedding destination!

  9. Since alot of people did passport invites, i wanted to send out something different. i ordered these from India. my colors are tiffany blue and silver (with fuschia flowers). Inside the box had custom inserts that displayed information you would normally put on your rsvp or insert cards. i also included our personal website for guests to rsvp (instead of having rsvp cards mailed back to me).  THe website was shown on the insert as well inside the invite. The scroll displayed the formal information such as names, parents, love note, wedding location, date, time. the print looks extremely small on the picture below but in person it was very legible :-) I loved the way it turned out!

I purchased these boxes from amazon to mail the invites (the size is 10x3x2 for the box). i stuffed it with tiffany blue tissue paper as well.

Oh my god that is a HUGE number for a destination wedding!  That's awesome!!  I can't even imagine the amount of stuff you'll have to pack. Good thing you are going down there prior to drop off some stuff!  Are you doing welcome bags?

You know I thought about doing teal napkins, but I couldn't find the "right" shade of teal on any website I went to.  So that's when I decided to just do that all white.  I'll have color with the centerpieces, etc.  The table numbers I got I can stick into the pommander and it's a little chalkboard where I can write the number in.  All the other table numbers I saw had so many in them - usually at least 12 and I only have 3 tables. So this was perfect.

lol yea tell me about it, huge is def that right word! lol yes i'm doing welcome bags. im getting the drawstring bags custom printed with first aid kits and couple other things. as for napkins, i couldn't find the color either so i bought the material at high fashion home and am getting my seamstress to cut them out. shes also making chair sashes (i haven't decided if i want every chair or every other chair yet, that's alot of chairs lol). below is a pick of my table numbers, i'm going to spray paint and bling out. def spending alot of money on stuff due to the amount of people. crazy thing is we only invited our CLOSE friends and family and it's still that amount. i also have 10 bridesmaids (ive known majority of them for 10-20 years, i'm only 31 so that says alot about all of us lol) it's really amazing to me still to this day lol

i need to do a planning thread after everything is over, i can't believe all the ideas i've gotten from this site! def so glad that i found out about this.

We have 29 guests, so 31 people total.  I am doing 3 round tables and white wooden chairs.  So, at table one will be our immediate family and us.  I got Mr. and Mrs. signs for our chairs.  All 3 tables are having the same centerpieces, which are pommanders from the ceremony will be in a bowl with 3 little white tealight laterns around it along with seashells and starfish around.  I am just doing white table clothes and napkins.  I wanted everything to be simple and elegant so just enough color but not over doing it - my wedding colors are fuchsia and teal so that could easily happen! :)

sounds lovely. we have about 100 guests but i get the final count next week. i'm guessing about 11 or 12 tables so everyone aren't on top of eachother :-) my colors are tiffany blue/aqua (pretty much the same color) and silver, with fuschia/hot pink flowers so we pretty much have the same thing. i'm doing white table clothes but im getting the napkins and chair sashes made in tiffany blue. i still don't know what to do for the centerpieces yet. i'll figure that out soon. i'm also bringing the material to drape the chuppa or gazebo. i'll know more details after i make a trip down there. i also have table numbers that are blinged out. still need to order mr and mrs signs, i've found so many cute ones online! it's def harder planning for a larger destination party, so much more of everything is needed!

  12. 2 months!! It will be here before you know it!  Exciting!  That's awesome that you are going down in a couple weeks - that will be helpful!!!!  Have you started working with the WC yet?
We are staying at Wild Orchid but actually having the wedding at Seawind which is the beach club on the property. We hired a separate WC so ill meet her when I go down. Initially we were having everything at wild orchid side but I wanted certain food, the reception outdoors by the pool and kids so Seawind was more flexible.
  13. I know it's crazy!!!!!!  Yes, pretty much.  Starting to try to pack everything I'm taking - all the OOT bag items, plus I've brought the stuff for our centerpieces.  It's ALOT!!!!  So, that's overwhelming right now.  But the process has been so great with the WC though so that's been a blessing.  I think I can all that stuff (not including our clothes, etc) into 1 HUGE roller duffle bag and 1 HUGE suitcase - neither of which the owners want back.   So, we won't have to check as much on the way home.
I can imagine. I have 2 months. So far I have oot bags with stuff, napkin rings, napkins, chair sashes , gifts, and some decor. Lol but its alot so far. I'm going down in couple weeks to drop some stuff off and finalize some things. I plan on selling a lot of my stuff to someone so I don't have to carry everything back lol
