Hi Rachel! Congratulations!! Our wedding is in November 2013! So we are probably going through the same things :-) We are going through a travel agent and from my understanding that is the only way to keep your sanity! :-) Right now I'm still giong back and forth about doing a room block or not. Anyone have any advice about room block vs just letting our guests book through the travel agent?

Good Morning Ladies, I sent my wire transfer to the resort and promptly Cecilia has stopped responding to my emails. She will not confirm that she has received that transfer and I made the transfer at the end of November. Any suggestions? I'm starting to panic that I need to look at other resorts!! It's been almost a month since I heard from her. Thank you!!

Did anyone buy wedding insurance? We put down the deposit today so I am breathing a sigh of relief & getting even more excited (if that is possible and we still have a year to go!!!) YaY!!! ConnieMac the Lanterns are as follows. 30 round white lamps $550 +11% tax 20 round white lamps $450 + 11% tax 10 round white lamps $350 +11% tax I think we are going to go with the lamps, when I asked Cecilia about 20 vs 30 she said that people typically go with 30 and she didn't have a picture of 20 lamps. Not sure if that is a trying to get us to spend more, but I figured I would wait until I get a bit further in the process (and see how much I have to spend) to then make that decision.

One more question, you said that you found your travel agent through the resort facebook page. Were they located in Texas? Do you recommend them? Did they help you with any of the contract negotiation stuff? Any advice is appreciated! I have a travel agent I have worked with for other weddings that I have attended in the past, but she seems to only know about the travel side of things (which is what I expect & she is great, but just curious if there is another option out there).

I am so glad to hear you say the lanterns are worth it. I have been debating on them. You said that you used a travel agent, but did you do a room block or did you let your guests book on their own? I am guessing that I may have more questions for you as I get further in the process, but thank you again!!!!

The Wedding Chicks also do sales pretty regularly on their bags. That is where I plan to buy from!! http://www.weddingchicks.com/ They have a great blog with tons of ideas and freebies too!!!

Hello ladies! I am trying to get back through all the posts and read your advice, but I was wondering if anyone had anything that they recommended that we address with Cecilia ahead of time, questions we should ask, etc. We have a hold for November 23, 2013 and we are going to move forward, but I am trying to make sure all my ducks are in a row before we do. All suggestions are appreciated :-) We are currently thinking getting married on the beach and then having the reception on the Gazebo Terrace. Also, I wanted to know if anyone had a list of "what to bring" and/or "what you need for the wedding". I am a big list girl and I'm trying to get my budget in order (although at times it feels like it has taken on a mind of it's own). I am just trying to think of everything beyond, shoes, dress, flowers, photographer, food, etc. Thank you!!!!

I am just starting the planning process with SMB and so far this forum looks like a HUGE help!!!! I had not even considered not having a DJ. It sounds like you had a bigger group and it worked! I'm so happy to hear that is an expense that I may be able to save money on! This whole planning is a bit overwhelming at times!!
