You had amazing weather for the ceremony and looked so beautiful I love the shots of your shadows kissing on the steps- just may have to copy that! (Also the one where Max is getting stepped on hehe!) Where did you do your green space photos? Was that the space right across the street?? Thank you so much for sharing!!

I've started to do a little research now on photographers in the area so hopefully I'll find some that work with the budget & taste I did also just hear that part of the Solarium is no longer there due to the expansions they are finishing up and I wanted to have either the ceremony there so that changes things a little bit.

Hi Yossi! Congratulations! I also just recently got engaged and have been to Sun Palace for vacation previously. We just decided this weekend that we want to get married at Playacar Palace in the Spring of 2014, now we just have to sign the paperwork. Although I haven't been to beach palace, we really enjoyed our stay at sun and i can't imagine any of the other resorts will be less then spectacular. The food, staff and overall resort feel were outstanding and knowing the high standards they have, if you go with Beach Palace, I truly feel you will have an amazing time & wedding! Our previous experience made our decision that much easier, so hopefully this helps a little bit. Good luck & happy planning

Hi Amanda! I'm on the fence with the CC packages. My concern is the expense of doing all the decour myself but i'm a little picky and haven't fallen in love with any one entire design scheme. Can you share if you find a reasonably priced vendor? Also, are you using the house photographer or someone else? I'm planning on having my cocktail hr on the cielo terrace and the reception on the beach. I haven't decided yet where the rehersal will be but i think i am going to use the 30 pp semi-private dinner reservation for that. Are you having a welcome dinner or a fairwell brunch? I also just asked for more pictures of the North Solarium and will try & post them when i get them.

I just heard from my destinationweddings.com rep that the construction is scheduled to be complete by Dec 2012. They are bringing the spa on site (YES!) and are expanding the pool to have swim-up access rooms. All good things but unfortunate for GenieBelle

Any information you can share Genie would be excellent! What made you pick playacar palace? Are you using the Colin Cowie packages or are you doing your own thing? I also am on the fence about using a DJ but if our guest lists gets bigger, I think i am going to go for it- the more people you have the more they want to dance Were there any other photographers you looked at before deciding on Cecilia Dumas? I love that you are doing your own flowers! I think thats a great way to save $$ and you know exactly what you are getting. Enjoy these last few days and have a wonderful wedding! Congrats!

I also am torn between Playacar Palace & Moon Palace. I think we are going to go towards Playacar Palace because of the location to 5th ave (right outside the resort) and the fact that Cozumel is just a short ferry ride away. That way guests have other things to do offsite. We went on vacation to Sun Palace in April 2010 and had an amazing time! We actually saw a wedding on the beach there and it planted the seed to us having a destination wedding ourselves. The best part is that Palace resorts let you visit their sister resorts for free for the day. From what i've been reading, Moon Palace is more like its own little community so there is no need to leave the resort. I have also heard that they have several weddings a day there (not sure how they are spread out or timed) and I personally want something a little smaller and more intimate. Plus, Playacar Palace has one of the best beaches in the area (or so I've been told). Moon Palace has a more rocky beach and that is a big deal breaker for me.

I also just got engaged just over a month ago and a destination wedding is def how we decided to go. I was going to suggest destinationweddings.com since I also just signed up for them and have been working with our cordinator for about 3 weeks. They are excellant when it comes to narrowing down on the final choices. Our situation is a little unique in that we need special handicap accessible venues for the groom's grandmother (who at 80 insists she is coming ) Our DW cordinator has even had a resort measure doorways since they weren;t sure they could be hca! So don't be afraid to ask- they will get the answer for you! My other suggestion is Destination Wedding for Dummies. The book literally covers everything! And then some! One other thing to keep in mind is the budget. Alot of these resorts offer packages but for only 10-20 guests. All the additional add-on (guests too!) make things get a little out of control. As far as a checklist, i suggest you do everything on the regular wedding timeline but add 4-6 weeks on to the send out dates for invitations. Your DW planner will really help you keep things in line and let you know when to have certain things done. Congratulations and enjoy planning!

Hi Ursula, I've just started the destination wedding planning process and Mexico seems to be the best bet for both us & our guests. We've started doing alot of research on our own and then contacted destinationweddings.com. We have some special requirements (handicap accessible, children, BIG foodies) so it has helped alot but having someone on your side to give feedback and keep the resorts responding quickly. ' We are in the final stretch of making the location decision but Cancun & Playa del Carmen are the two areas we have settled on. From everyone I've spoken to about d.w's, Mexico is the go to place and has gotten the "all-inclusive" resort down to a science. Not sure if this helps or not, but don't give up on Mexico!
