  1. Really!? We will check it out thank you so much the passport idea is so cute and we can't wait to look for the perfect invites. Thank you for the advice and update! I will check them out today with my fiance.
  2. That is also a good idea too! The main idea is to not leave anyone out because there are so many firefighters in his house, and we know that many might not be able to attend, but inviting them all would be nice. Never know, might be a big turnout, I am sure stranger things have happened hehe.
  3. Thank you for the advice and ideas ladies! Kisha what a great idea for the wedding gift. My uncle loves wine and even has a wine cellar in his house. I think your idea is amazing, and thanks again for all the great advice, sounds like my idea isn't so wierd after all
  4. We are getting married November 15th 2013 in Mexico. I have no idea where my father is and haven't spoken to him which was on and off anyways but for about 6 years now. He disappears and cannot keep up with trying to find him and his number and he hasn't reached out to me and I've had the same cell phone number for many many years. So at this point I am offended and saddened but what can I do? I can't force someone to reach out and I've tried so many times to rekindle whats left of any type of relationship but was told in his words, he was too young when he had me and to not contact him, but that was years ago that he had said this. But I of course kept trying to make him want to have a relationship. Anyways, my wonderful grandfather and my uncle have been father figures in my life since I was a child. My grandfather is elderly (90 years old) and although he wants to and would love to come to Mexico, we aren't sure, health wise, if he will be able to attend. I asked my grandfather if he would walk me down the aisle, but I also asked my uncle as well in case my grandfather isn't able to come. My uncle was very excited and my question is, lets say my grandfather is feeling up to attending my wedding and health wise is able to walk me down the aisle, which we all don't want to put pressure on him, if they both do attend would it be weird if I had both my Uncle and Grandfather walk me down the aisle? Also any suggestions on a keep sake "will you walk me down the aisle" type of gift? Thank you for any advice!
  5. Hi Everyone, We had our engagement party a little while ago so we decided we wanted to have our save the dates at each person's setting on the tables, but also be able to mail them as a traditional card for anyone unable to attend the party. We are having our wedding in November at Excellence Riviera Cancun, so we wanted a unique, rustic beachy feel for the STD's. We found the miniature mason jars at Michaels and added some sand and a few shells in each jar. The created our cards via the DIY site on Staples and were very happy about the results.
  6. Thank you for your reply! I know, I am going to look up some nice not too feminine sign up's to give my fiance so people at the firehouse can decided if they want to go they can put their name and address on their, and no one can feel left out that they didn't get an invitation.
  7. Our wedding is November 15th, 2013! Today is 300 days till the wedding! Have you booked your wedding yet?
  8. I know this sounds wierd, or a bit off, but my fiance is a firefighter and his firehouse has about 40 people in it. Now obviously not everyone is going to be able to come to our wedding in Mexico, but I don't want to leave anyone out or have to find people and get there addresses. Some people who have gotten married within the firehouse have also put up a signup sheet to make it easier for guests and to not exclude anyone. Any suggestions on how to go about creating a sign up sheet for guests at the Firehouse? Thanks, Shelley
  9. Thank you for that tip! I will check it out! We are looking at invitation ideas, we like the passport book invitations- it really is such a great and cute idea for a destination wedding! If anyone has anyone particular sites that they suggest we are all ears! We have our wedding website up as well for our guests, which tells everyone everything that they need to know for travel tips and passport info and where we will be holding the ceremony, times and dates. So it is pretty much spelled out for everyone, although it seems as though we still get the lagging, "where do we go for the info again" type of questions lol, but glad the wedding website is somewhat helpful. People just forget to go on it even though the wedding website address was on our STD's and sent to people's emails. Any other advice on invitations or what everyone is planning on doing is so helpful and a great way to get ideas and have fun with all the planning!
  10. Our Wedding is going to be at Excellence Cancun, November 15th, 2013. We reserved our block or rooms for our guests and have picked our photographer and travel agent, which is Wendy to help us out. We are so excited and can't wait to have fun with all the planning that is to come!
  11. The Tiffany Bracelets sound like a nice idea, and if they can be engraved somehow that would be even better! How special would that be to have a little something written on the bracelet for being the wedding. Any other ideas that are unique and special?
  12. Hello Everyone! My fiance and I are planning to have our wedding at Excellence Cancun November 15th, 2013. We reserved our block of rooms already and have Wendy helping us with our travel plans for our guests. My cousin recently decided to come to our wedding which is great. She asked me the other day that she is planning on coming but wanted to know, since Excellence Cancun doesn't allow children, if there would be a hotel nearby that they can stay in that does allow children. But then we thought, wait, Excellence might not even allow children on the premises just for our wedding. How would you go about telling her in a nice way that unfortunatley allowing her kids to come isn't possible at all? I really would love my cousin to come, and I know it might be hard for her to find a sitter, but we chose this hotel and they have rules and we must follow them. I just need a way to say this to her where she would still want to come, but it wouldn't work out to bring her kids. Thanks for any advice!!
  13. We had our lovely engagement party and made save the date cards that were tied around a clear mini glass bottle with sand and shells in it we also sent out the save the dates to people who didn't come to the engagement party. Our STD had of course the date, our wedding website address and where it will be. I noticed that not only guests not going on the wedding website (reason why I know is because guests that I talk to are clueless to what to do and where to go online). I have emailed the guests and linked the site into the email and even facebook messaged guests and linked the wedding website into the message so it is pretty easy to just click and go to the website. But still people are asking questions as if don't know who to contact, and what to do. Our website is through mywedding.com and is so simple to navigate that its impossible to not know what and who to contact. I even put a news and updates page on our website and directly linked our travel agents email and phone number. I am getting pretty upset that people are being unreliable when it comes to trying to get rooms booked. I can't book people's rooms for them, this part guests have to do themselves which is the right thing to do. But, I just don;t want to be annoying and keep sending "reminders" about our wedding. Is there any advice on how to "remind" people of our wedding and to make sure, if they are coming, that they need to book their room and make arrangements with their job too. Any advice would be great!!!! Thanks
  14. Our wedding is in November 2013, and we tried to ask if our dog can come with us to Mexico to a couple of the hotels we were looking at. After having some say that he can come but only stay a certain amount of days we just left the idea of bringing our dog alone. What we do have planned is setting up a photo shoot when we come back from our wedding. I am going to buy our dog a cute doggie tux and take pictures in and around our area, and of course we will be wearing our wedding attire. Figured this would be a great way to capture some photos with us and our dog in our wedding attire, although he wasn't there to share it with us, at least we will have photos that will last.
  15. Hi everyone! We've decided to have our wedding at ERC in November 2013 after looking at a bunch of places and narrowing it down to Dreams Tulum or here and are so excited. We have a few more questions for Gloria, who has been very quick and helpful already and then we will be booking our date. Thanks for all the information on here, it really helped us make our decision! Quick question though, we really want our reception outdoors. Does anyone know of any links to photos of receptions at Agave, Lobster House or on the beach? We really are leaning towards the Lobster House but can never find any pics of an event there.
  16. We would like to have Lori from sweet fire photographer do our wedding photos. We love her work and is willing to lean towards our favorite types of photos which are candid rather than posing. 1. How much is it to have this photographer come onto the hotel grounds to take our pictures, and how long can she stay for? 2. Is the DJ included in the wedding package, and for how long during the night will he be playing music? 3. Can we have music of our choice for the wedding ceremony, playing in the background? 4. How many days before the wedding should we arrive? 5. How many days does the bride and groom usually stay when they have their wedding here at Excellence Cancun? 6. Question for brides in the past who've gotten married- Did you go on your honeymoon to another place after your wedding at Excellence? 7. If you want your hair and make up done, as well as hair and make up done for other guests, how much would that cost? 8. Can I give a the make up and hair artists a request of what I have in mind for the big day? If someone can please help us with these particular questions that would be wonderful! We appreciate any and all advice and information - Shelley & Eric
  17. My fiance and I just got engaged in September at Cabanas Tulun which was amazing. We wanted to have our wedding there, but financially it is a bit too expensive. We also stayed at Excellence in Playa Mujeres after we stayed at Cabanas Tulum which was also wonderful. We are planning to get married in November of 2013 and we are deciding on getting married at The Excellence Cancun. We were debating on having at Dreams or the excellence. Dreams was going to allow us to bring our doggie, (to be the ring barer, which is my dream to have him in the wedding, he is a small dog) But they will only allow our dog to stay 2 days, which is not realistic being most people are staying a minimum of 3 days. So, I am opened minded to not being able to have our dog come down for the wedding which is fine. So now we are definitly thinking about having it at Excellence Cancun. If anyone has any suggestions or advice we would love to hear anything that will help us plan or make a decision. Good Luck to all the brides that are going to get married soon!
  18. HI everyone! This thread has been so helpful to us! There isn't a ton of information available online about ERC compared to our other choice which was Dreams Tulum, but just reading through all 52 pages lol of this thread has really helped us make this resort our first choice. We are thinking of getting married there in November of next year but we had some questions that we were hoping some of you could help us with. For some reason, I'm having alot of trouble viewing attachments and photos...we are thinking of a beach wedding, a pier or maybe the X-lounge or beach for cocktail hour and the lobster house for reception. We are also thinking of having our welcome dinner t either toscana or agave depending on the day as we don't need anything private for that, we think it'd be more fun to people watch anyway. Does anyone have any pictures of their special day or the setup for any of these locations? It'd really help us picture our possibilities! thanks and congrats and best of luck to everyone!
  19. Thank you for the input. We are really kind of stuck right now. I think we personally like ERC better due to location, the price of the package and what it offers. Dreams Tulum is beautiful too but the distance for the guests to travel plus the fact that it would likely cost us more money that Excellence..which is odd because based on reviews, ERC seems to be the better resort? The only thing holding us back is that Dreams granted us permission to bring our dog down for 3 days bc we really wanted him to be our ring bearer and I don't see Excellence granting us this exception to the rules. lol I think we need insight from other people who have had weddings at either of these places. We've read the reviews but does anyone feel like sharing their thoughts here?
