  1. That's a great idea to make them for your moms as well! I know what you mean... I had never done any beading before so the task seemed a little daunting to me but once I got started and after a little trial and error I was more confident and I'm pretty happy with them The best thing to keep in mind is they are just beads. You can't really mess up bc you can always cut the string and start over! I'd love to see your finished project!
  2. Hi sorry girls unfortunately I didn't use a template. However, you could definitely do something similar! I use picmonkey.com to create my designs. It's free and fairly simple and great for beginners!
  3. Thank you girls. Since I had my own design they were not free BUT they were literally almost free... I bought a Groupon for vistaprint (I can't remember the exact numbers but it was really cheap and worth a lot... Something like $12 for $24 worth) then I was able to combine that with an online coupon code for 50% off. In the end I ordered 2 sets of business cards (one set was my luggage tags and the other was my key/tip money holder) and a set of postcards and my total was 2.24 plus shipping. It was like crazy how cheap it came out to. As far as a template- unfortunately I do not have one. I dabble in graphic design but have not yet splurged on a program like photoshop so the good news is you could do your own just like I did! I use an online editor called pic monkey. It's picmonkey.com. It's pretty simple and great for beginners.
  4. Thanks girls! Haha yes I think thanks to Pinterest this will be a popular thing at weddings for awhile. I'd love to see both of yours when you complete them.
  5. Wow thanks ladies! @Alexis- thank you! Happy to see someone picked up on the font change for each city. I think the NYC one is so appropriate for NYC lol.
  6. Wow small world!! I know the Chester Springs area. Where in NJ? I was born there but grew up in ATL but then my parents moved back to NJ and love there now. Oh and thanks! Everything has been so fun to make. I'm excited to be done and see it all come together ... And get married!! But i will miss planning.
  7. We are using the semi private dinner that comes with our package as a welcome dinner. Even though some of our guests will have been there for a couple days we are just handing ours out at the dinner. I'm sure if I have the bag and I see someone before the dinner I will just give it to then ahead, but this is when we will "officially" give them out. I just can't see paying $4/bag.
  8. Thank you!! Yes- I hear ya... Things get expensive quick! For me, DIY is just so fun that even if it weren't cheaper I would still want to make it myself. It's kind of my outlet. Good luck with your projects

  11. I wanted to do something more fun than just table numbers, and I had heard of people naming the tables places or landmarks, etc. I decided to go with 5 cities mean something special to us. When guests arrive at the reception, there will be Maraca's with a tag attached that has their name and a city so they know what "city" (table) they are sitting at. I haven't actually finished this project completely yet...but here are my designs. I will print these and border them with card stock to make them pretty I will post an update when I get these printed, which I planned on doing right now, but my littel boy reallllly wants to go for a walk. SO, for a walk we shall go! DIY shall be continued later... Happy Planning, ladies! -Megan
  12. These were so simple to make. I think they will be just the right amount of decor for the aisle of a beach ceremony! Supplies: Starfish Raffia Ribbon I bought my starfish at Michael's. It was one big package of "starfish garland" so I just cut the garland apart and used one starfish per decoration. I also bought the Raffia at Michael's. I had a coupon so all said and done this project probably cost me $15. All I did was cut the raffia to a length that seemed good, then twisted it at the top to create a "handle." I then tied it in place with a spare piece of raffia (which you will have plenty of....that stuff will be ALL over your floor). Then I tied the starfish and ribbon on and voila: Easy!! I plan to hang one on each "end" chair going down the aisle. This was my inspiration: You'd be shocked to see what these things go for on Etsy, so I think for $15 total I'm happy with how mine turned out! I made 10 total. Happy Planning, ladies! Let me know if you have any questions! -Megan
  13. I have seen these on the internet and they seem popular (and practical) for a beach wedding. I actually have shoes that I LOVE that I will wear for the ceremony and pictures. Since I will have nicer shoes, I want my bridesmaids and MOH to also wear shoes but I did make them these for beach pictures and for whenever else they want to wear them. These were fairly simple to make even though I had never done any beading. I purchased all my supplies at Michael's (with a nice coupon!) Supplies: Beads Clear Elastic Thread Beading Needle Patience and no kids! lol (We have an 18 month old son and this project was definitely done after bed time) All I did was string the beads onto the elastic using the beading needle and once it was long enough to fit around my ankle made a knot. Then I added the beads for the long part that goes over top my foot. Once that was at a good length, I added the smaller beads that go around the toe. Then, I made a circle with the small beads to create a loop for the toe, tying a knot between the toe loop and the long string of beads. That's it! I know it sounds kind of complicated, but I can't really type the instructions clearer. It's really trial and error, though. Just basically string beads long enough to fit your foot and you'll be good to go. I made myself an ivory pair: Please excuse my unmanicured, not-so-cute feet. My feet really don't look THAT dinosaur-ish in real life...it's hard to take a good picture of your own foot! lol My bridesmaids, MOH, and flower girl will all wear purple: Happy Planning, ladies! I know this one is a little confusing as far as my instructions, so please let me know if you have any questions! -Megan
