Ouch!! I guess I will eventually have to chose from this one or the other vendor. When will you be placing your order?

One word of caution when addding COLOR to  your Chuppah's....  Usually, the color will act like a filter to the sun, and suddenly bride + groom become PINK, or GREEN or even BLUE.   So, in your photos, your skin actually becomes those colors.

Sound Crazy?      Its very real,  I'd say Pink has to be the biggest problem, just avoid too much color as it will damage your photos with skin tones that are just the same color!

I'll try to find some photo examples...

    good luck

    Hi Matt,

Thank you so much for pointing out this fact! What do you think about purple, teal and white chuppah fabric? By the way... We booked Melissa for our wedding August 2nd. msnwink.gif

    This is a great thread!!

We didn't get an invoice or tentative invoice ahead of time at all, but I had our final price figured out almost exactly from the various prices that had been given to me.  The only thing I was off on was the amount of credit given for not having the cocktail hour.  We also added on an extra hour of reception on impulse at the list minute, but I'm glad we did.  I stressed to Lorena that I wanted dinner to move very quickly, and she told me they would have it move as fast as our guests were eating, but it was sooooooooo slooooooooow.  Took pretty much 2 hours from start to finish (I was aiming for 1 hour!), and we only had 24 adults.  I'm sure it would be a lot faster with a buffet.  But anyway, because dinner was so slow I was happy to have the extra hour of dancing.

Our final cost was around $7650 (including photography).  It broke down roughly like this:

    $3000  wedding package

    $1100  photographer

$620  flowers (3 bridesmaids bouquets, 2 extra centerpieces, 4 flower girl baskets, extra boutonnieres & coursages, flowers for the cake)

      $290  extra food & cake

      $450  extra hour of reception

$400  sound system (2 hours - 1 hour for the ceremony, and 1 hour to play music during the first hour of the reception)

    $1000  DJ (3 hours)

      $640  light-up dance floor

$550  extra costs for legal wedding

     -$400  cocktail hour credit

So this doesn't include our trip itself, or any of the stuff we brought with us, just the actual wedding items we were charged for by the resort. I think we may have been given a few small breaks in some of the prices when we decided to add on the extra hour, like I don't think we paid for the child's meal, or an extra bottle of champagne (for having 4 extra adults), small stuff like that.  But we also realized later that we didn't get one of the boutonnieres we paid for, and we didn't get any cake or flowers returned to our room.  I was mostly sad about this because they told us to just leave all the flowers and they would bring them up, and so I left my bouquet behind, and ended up losing my bouquet photo charm which was a real sentimental item for me.

    Thanks Lori!! :)

  4. Hi Ladies

My FH and I will be getting legally married the day before we fly down. None of our guests know except for his mother and brother and my parents and sisters. Its Top Secret! Lol.

So my question is: Has any of you done or will be doing a symbolic ceremony? If so, does the resort offer a substitute for signing and finger printing the marriage certificate?

I know its misleading but I would like our ceremony to be as authentic as possible.

The DJ was $900 for the 3 hours. I don't remember how much the light up dance floor was - I don't have our break down of price anymore. 2 centerpieces were included with the ultimate package so we only had to pay for 3 of those which were about $60 each.  We paid $4 per person for the cake for 15 people because 20 were included. And we paid $150 per bamboo pole for the lighting and I think $30 per table for the under table lights. We took everything else with us (table overlays, sashes, picture frames, decorations, etc).

For our entire wedding at the resort it was about $8000. That didn't include what we brought with us or our trip there.

    Hi Savs,

Was your final costs including the resort's photography? I haven't seen my tentative invoice from my WC and its stressing me out.

Only lighting I had was the lanterns going across the front of the deck and the lights under the tables and it was perfectly lit. ( also had the light up dance floor ) & i think it was perfect...

I also highly recommend the white flags. I had 3 i think or four going acorss the deck along the poolside behind where the head table was and they really looked beautiful blowing in the wing... added a really nice element! I cant remember the price but they werent too much & def. worth it for the backdrop.

    Hi Emily,

I too have question about the lights under the table. Do you think the lights would show through satin table linens? Or does it only show through the white? I don't want to spend that much money if it won't have the same effect.

    Guys,

I just checked and I don't have them.  I have emails floating all over the place and I might have it in hard copy (I would have to check when I get home).

Thanks for getting back to us. I found a list of menu options on the amresorts (owner of Dreams) site. They have really good sounding options. I wonder if I will be able to pick out of those menus.

Out of curiosity, what dish did you chose for your fish option?

Thanks for the advice!  I asked Yamina if I can have more than one option for the dinner and she gave me the go ahead.  I am thinking that three options would probably be best, especially if they have people's entree choices before hand.  I rather it cost extra, then having a few people not being able to eat.

My FI and are still debating between the gold and the platinum, although the platinum menu does have some of the same choices as the gold.

    Hi Bianca,

Can you please send me the platinum menus? I only received the Silver and Gold.

  11. Hello Brides,

I am purchasing my linens but before I do have a few questions. For those who purchased their own linens:

    • How many yards of fabric (chiffon or organza?) should I get for the chuppah? I was thinking about 6 yards per color.
    • How many small tables do they put out for cocktail hour? And what are the cocktail table measurements? We're having our cocktail hour at North Jacuzzi.
    • What size is the guestbook/place-card table?
    • What size overlays should I purchase for the wedding guests? I was going to purchase 72x72.

    Thanks in advance! cheesy.gif

    Hey JustNoelle,

I'm not sure about the minimum/maximum but I have 45 guests (including me and my FI, photographer & assistant) for the pool deck with a sit down dinner.

I was able to get three options for dinner, (chicken, beef and fish) from the ultimate package and I have to provide meal choices to Gina 30 days beforehand.  I included the options on the RSVP (I included a picture).  I also numbered each RSVP with a guest specific number to help me keep track.

     400

    Hope this helps!

Great! Thank you!!! I will also be including the chicken, beef and fish option in my RSVPs. By the way... Cute RSVP card!!!

  13. Hi Brides,

I think I'm having a minor meltdown (lol I'm dramatic).

I found my dress (Mori Lee 4968) this past Saturday and I am in love with it. But I really wanted a sweetheart neckline. My bridal consultant assured me that with alterations I can make a sweetheart neckline.

Here's the thing, I happened to be looking at the designer's website and stumbled across a very similar dress (Mori Lee 3124) with the sweetheart neckline I wanted. The other problem is that style only comes in plus size (which I am not).

So I was wondering if I would be able to request the designer to customize my dress to have the neckline that I want. I don't see it being a problem because they're both the same designer. I plan on calling them first thing Monday morning.

Are there any other brides out here that was able to have something done like that?

    My Dress: Mori Lee 4968

    700

The other style: Mori Lee 3142

  14. Hey Brides,

Does anyone know the procedures for a sit-down dinner? What the minimum/maximum amount of people they allow? Is there an extra cost? How many options do my guests have to chose from? How soon in advance I have to give my WC my guests' meal options?

I will be sending my formal invitations out by the end of the month and I need to know if I should include a meal option (chicken, beef or fish) on the RSVP cards. I would email my WC but I know it will take a few weeks for her to get back to me and I am kind of in a time crunch.

  15. Hey Brides,

I haven't been on in awhile because I've been extremely busy with work and school so I am a little out of loop. I also haven't contacted my WC in about 3 months embarrest.gif.

Does anyone know the procedures for having a sit-down dinner? And what is the additional cost, if any? I am expecting approx. 40 guests and I would like to give them the option of a steak, chicken and fish option? I would like to include this on our RSVPs (which I would be sending out in early April). Please help! Lol

I am getting so close and so nervous.... i just started working on my OOT bags ;) Do you guys think its bad if i save money and order cheaper bags like sort of like paper bags with handles and attach a cute tag to them ? I am putting a hangover kit inside, some candy, a koozie, and a t shirt that says something funny, so i figured maybe i could cheap out on the bag little lol

also- cesar finally emailed me back and said we are all set to go for the wedding..... he said he will bring props but not to tell Lorena because she will charge me ( sort of think thats ridiculous because he is not cheap and most djs provide a few small props)lol he also said theres an extra fee for cold fireworks- does anyone know what this is? When I asked him about certain music we like he said of course he knows it and not to worry.... is this really the case? the music is soooo important to me!

and i am curious if anyone had a TV set up near the dj where they displayed pictures ? we want to do something in memory of people who have passed away and thought a tv going with pictures throughout the night would be great. not sure i have seen this yet.

Kelly Kellz- did u post a review ? id love to see it if u did.

and lastly, i  dont think i am going to pay for my bridesmaids hair because i am getting them something else also so how much did your girls pay to get their hair done ?

    thanx everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Emily,

I am in the same boat as you when it comes to the DJ. I too think that music is super important but I am concerned the DJ is not familiar with my style of music (even though he says he is). My family is of Caribbean descent and we would like to hear reggae/dancehall, soca/Calypso, r&b, hip hop and some pop. As my wedding date gets closer, I am getting more and more anxious about the music and other details of our wedding. worried2.gif

My dress is kind of elegant/glam/old Hollywood and I thought purple was a regal color to go with it. I look really terrible in warm colors, so we were definitely going to go with a green, blue, or purple. Any input would be appreciated! Please be honest...we haven't picked anything yet so I'd rather know now than after we start buying stuff! Like the below are some examples I liked:

I am going with a royal purple and teal (peacock inspired). I too felt like the colors were too dark for a beach wedding but after doing some research I am satified that it would look great!! Hope that helps :)

also havent seen a review in a while. . . . . where did everyone go ? lol

I am piggy backing on what Emily said. I think charging (already guests) to eat together is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. I mean c'mon... we are all dishing out thousands of dollars and we can't even have a rehearsal dinner for free!
