  1. Thank your that info. I too received that same email. I was a little bummed being that I heard so much about Evangelina. I feel a little relieved that you got a chance to meet her.

I actually did a site visit over the weekend and met with Lorena, I used to have Evangelina as well but am now switched to Lorena. She was very nice, very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions (and I had A LOT lol)...so don't worry your in good hands.

    Hi Ladies,

Thank you for replying to my post and proving such helpful information.

    Lol @ Abbie

My fiance and I have chosen to get married at the Dreams Riviera Resort & Spa in August 2013. We are inviting approx. 30 of our close family and friends.

@ Sharon99 I would love to see some photos of how your wedding turned out. :-)

Thanks again for all of your help!

    Hello Brides,

My fiance and I are getting married at DRC in August 2013. We are extremely excited but very stressed as well. We are completely oblivious as to how to start planning our destination wedding. We have already booked our date and chose our package with DRC and we are now working on our Save the Date (passports).

We plan on sending out our STD's in the next couple of months and we don't know how to add the travel information in them.

I have read what feels likes 1000s of posts and have learned something from everyone. But one thing I still can't figure out... What is the role of the TA with the wedding planning? Why did you decide or not decide to use one? Do they coordinate with the on-site WC from afar? Will they be better able to negotiate room rates? Did your guests end up using your TA or not??

We are sending out 50 invitations and predicting to have approx. 30 guests. Is it worth using a TA with such a small group? And I understand the resort provides a discount code of 20% off. Does the TA have the same same discount (or more)?

We are open to really good TA referrals.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

P.S. I don't know what we would've done without BDW forum!!!

  5. 1 word... GORGEOUS!!!! I love everything about your wedding. Every detail was perfect and memorable. I too am getting married at Dreams Riviera Cancun and I must admit, I a little nervous about planning my wedding from another country. Can you please share some of your tips? Were all of the decor from DR or did you have to use an outside vendor??

  6. So after pretty much planning every detail of our big, extravagant $35,000 (fall 2012) wedding, the drama with guest lists, finances, MONSTER-in-law, etc. was putting a strain on my FI & I's soon to be marriage. So much so, that we've decided to cancel everything and plan an intimate "elopment" in MEXICO this summer. Thank God we were able to get our deposits back for almost everything.

I've done a little research and found a few nice-looking resorts in Mexico to have our wedding:

    1. Excellence Playa Mujeres
    2. Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun
    3. Dreams Riviera Cancun Resorts & Spa
    4. Now Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa
    5. Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe
    6. Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort
    7. Valentin Imperial Maya

    Questions:
Has anyone been to any of these resorts?
Does anyone of any other AMAZING resort in Mexico for our wedding/honeymoon?
How good are the resort wedding coordinators?

    Wishlist for Wedding/Resort:

    • bamboo canopy w/ drapes
    • intimate beach ceremony location
    • intimate evening wedding dinner (for two)
    • recently renovated/fairly new
    • fantastic honeymoon suite
    • nice size pool & a pool bar
    • for young adults (not too much kids or retirees)
    • entertainment/nightlife

I know, a lot of question... Sorry. I'm just freaking out about planning my wedding thousands of miles away. Pretty much have no control until we get there.
