  1. I also suggest Oahu because there is a lot more to do especially if you have single people attending. I originally wanted Maui because it is so beautiful but Oahu is more affordable and still very beautiful! I had my ceremony and reception at Paradise Cove in Oahu and went to Maui for our honeymoon. Please feel free to ask me any questions! You can PM me if you want.
  2. Hi Page, I'm not sure what the minimum amount of guests is for Paradise Cove. That is where I had my wedding and it was BEAUTIFUL. I had 33 guests total and had the ceremony and reception at their private Ocean Gardens area. The area is huge but there is this little garden area near the beach which has a spectacular view. My guests were amazed at the location. It is very intimate. The prices are also very reasonable compared to the more popular Lanikuhonua and Loulu Palms. I would suggest contacting Camille at Paradise Cove. I do not know about the chapels because I didn't get married in one. I know the chapels can be very expensive. I wanted an outdoor wedding so this was not a problem for me. I'll be posting pictures and doing reviews soon once I get my professional photos. I can send you some personal pictures of the view if you want to PM me your email address.
  3. We have about the same amount of guests... 32! Surprisingly I got all the RSVP's! I did have to bug a few people to get them in. Lol. Flowers - YES... I would love to help you with flowers! What are your colors? I'll look up some pics and send you some so you could send to your coordinator (if you like the ones I choose). Gifts - UGH... I don't know what to do either! I know I want to get bridesmaid tank tops but I don't know what else to get them. Makeup?? What is something that all girls love? My fiance has been eyeing watches so I think that'll be his gift Not sure what to get our parents. I've already decided to get the groomsmen I am starting to freak out! I have so much to do and I start my RN (nursing) program on Monday 6/17. I still have to do pretty much everything I listed before. Lol. I bought the stuff but now it's just a matter of actually putting it together. My MOH and bridesmaids said they would help me with the stuff that I need to do. I just have to relax and not be such a control freak because I always want things done perfectly. I didn't even have them help me with my passport invitations because I wanted to make sure they were done the way I wanted! Haha. I guess now I have no choice. I also have to come up with our DJ playlist. These 2 months are going to FLY by!!
  4. Hello my dear! Hope you are feeling better and everything is going well for you I've been looking at things to do in Maui and I CANNOT WAIT!! Are you planning on doing Road to Hana? I think we're going to have to do that on our short stay there... I also wanted to see sunrise at Haleakala. What do you guys have planned?
  5. Hi Emily! Welcome to our little thread! Lol. Glad someone else is getting married in Hawaii I love Anna Kim! I usually see her photographs from Karen Tran's work. I was looking into her but she's based in Maui and I just don't want to pay extra for the travel fee. I'm sure your photos will be gorgeous. I ended up choosing someone who is also well known in Hawaii called Visionari. They are based in Oahu where I'm getting married. As for a wedding planner, I refuse to pay $3K+ for a day of coordinator especially for a small wedding. In my opinion, it's only worth it for weddings with guests 100+. Even though it's a little more work, I'd like to save that money for something else. Perhaps a 2nd honeymoon. Haha. Anyway, good luck with planning!
  6. Or Ebay! There are plenty of sellers from China who sell them for VERY cheap and do free shipping. You may want to order them well ahead of your wedding because it can take up to a month to receive.
  7. You can find plenty of brooches on Etsy.com or maybe even Amazon.
  8. Thanks so much! It's so hard to get in these days so I'm sooo relieved. Omg, I'll choose the flowers for you!! Lol. You know how much I love flowers. Seriously though I feel so unmotivated by these DIY projects now. I know I have to do them... But I just look at the list of things to do and I end up doing something else. Hahaha.
  9. Hey Amanda! No worries!! I've been EXTREMELY busy too. Just found out I got into nursing school!! I couldn't be more ecstatic. Everything is coming together this year for me I start June 17 (for Summer session) so I don't know how I'm going to get everything done! I need to go into overdrive this month and just get everything finished. Haha. Hope everything else is going well for you and I hope you feel better soon! <3 Can't wait to see how your magazine turns out
  10. Have you finished your magazine? I wanna see!! I'm attempting so many DIY projects, I hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew. Haha. Here is my list: Invitations -- done Ring bearer pillow -- done To do: Garter Menus Fan programs Favor boxes Name tags Welcome bags What else are you planning to do? Oh, and how are you traveling with your dress?? Carry on? Or paying extra? I'm paranoid the airline will lose it. Haha.
  11. Thanks so much! I was debating whether to keep my original idea with vintage colors (originally planned on doing a wedding at home) or doing tropical colors after I changed the destination to Hawaii. Every time I looked at bouquets and centerpieces, I was just drawn to those colors so I just kept it =)

  13. TTD & boudoir should be fun!! We didn't do engagement photos either. The destination wedding was so last minute we had to just send the invitations asap. Haha.

  17. Private beaches/resorts such as Turtle Bay have no restrictions because it is their own property. I am getting married at Paradise Cove and they also have a private beach you could get married on and still have a bamboo arch (chuppah) and chairs. I believe it is only public beaches where you cannot have arches or chairs such as Waimanalo, Lanikai, etc. At least that's what I was told by a wedding coordinator
  18. I would like to add that they do have a private beach where you can have your ceremony but if you decide to have the reception at the Ocean Gardens, I believe it is an additional cost. Since it is a private beach, you would be able to have a bamboo arch and chairs. One of the previous brides who got married there sent me pics so if anyone is interested, I can ask her if she can send them to you as well.
  19. So I was on the Save on Crafts website and they have chair sashes on there for really cheap! Both organza and satin. Not sure how much the shipping is to your area but it's worth checking it out
  20. Welcome! I have a small budget as well and I am getting married August 10, 2013 at Paradise Cove in Oahu. Originally I was looking into Maui but it would have been more expensive for my guests to fly there. What is your budget if you don't mind me asking? Are you also doing a reception or just a beach wedding and restaurant after?
  21. I really love your bags... I may have to work overtime to get those into my wedding. Haha.
  22. Omg that sounds amazing! Hmm... what about your engagement photos? So it could look like a styled shoot. Lol.
  23. Oh! And my colors are ivory, blush (pale pink), champagne & gold. Not really tropical colors for a Hawaii wedding but I love the classic look of these colors. And I'm so girly so you know I HAVE to have pink. I'm not a fan of hot pink though... Anyhow, most of my wedding inspiration comes from Karen Tran (amazing florist) if you were girly and into flowers!! Haha. Are you planning on decorating your arch with flowers? Or just fabric? I think I found another Hawaii bride! She is getting married at Turtle Bay. Lol. Maybe I can bring her over to our thread. I really wish Hawaii brides posted more on here =/
  24. Hi everyone! I'm August 10, 2013! Oahu, Hawaii - Paradise Cove
  25. Haha. There are different kinds of vintage so no worries! Most people do vintage/rustic but mine is a more like a. "Old English" type of vintage with brooches, skeleton keys, etc. Those bags are awesome! I don't think they're cheesy at all. I may do the one with the handles. I wonder how big they are... I think people will be appreciative of anything, really. So I may do those! How's your magazine going?
