  1. Hey ladies! My wedding is 4 weeks away. I'm still trying to tone up to where I want to be. I cut out sugars and did low carb for june. I play Roller Derby so that was my primary exercise, but a gf of mine also sent me this: I'll be completely honest, i did it but I have no idea how. hahaha I'll tell you what though, my fiance travels a lot and he hadn't seen me for 2 weeks when he noticed that my muffin top was gone!! My clothes fit better, its crazy. I remember on June 1st, I was looking at the workout for June 30th going, "HOW AM I GOING TO DO THAT!?!?!", but i did. and now I plan on doing the June 30th workout everyday of July (we leave for our trip on Aug 1st) I am also running 3mi on days when i don't have practice. It sucks and I pretty much have to make myself a new playlist everyday to motivate myself. My fiance is a bigger dude and he's not really into working out but he's actually been doing sit up and pushup like me (sups and pups, he calls it). I guess that's his way of being supportive. I'm about 5'6 and weight 131 on a good day lol. I'm not necessarily trying to lose weight, but I could shed some weight off my buns at this point haha, that's why i've really picked up my running regimen. Sometimes I add in lunges or jumpsquats or wall sits or other butt exercise that I can do on my living room floor. Clearly, I get bored very easily with working out so i need to try new things all the time. My diet has been all over the place. I generally eat fruit for breakfast, a sald for lunch, then I end up pigging out at dinner. I've really got to get that in check for July. My plan for carbs, is to have them in the am, if i'm going to have any. Cut them out after 3pm. Wish me luck! I'm glad this thread is here! I like this stuff!
  2. I'm getting pretty close to our wedding too. Could you please forward it me as well. I'm trying to stay organized the best I can with homemade spreadsheets, but just don't want to miss anything. Thanks in advance!! [email protected] I finally got my first email response from Lorena yesterday. I had sent her another email and marked it "important". I feel kind of bad about that now. She told me to trust that everything would be fine and she was reviewing my wedding info to see if there was anything else we needed to organize. She told me we would keep our meeting time that I had booked with Yamina. I had a few other questions in my email but she hasn't answered them yet-changes to my guest count, changes in the time of our ceremony, day passes for guests.... I'm 4 weeks away so hopefully she will get those few questions answered before we head out. I need to print our guest itineraries with the correct times of all of our events before we leave, so I need it within a few weeks.
  3. Here is mine. I got it a David's Bridal! I got a Tiffany Blue colored sash. I can't wait to put it on!!! 4 more weeks to go!!
  4. Here is mine. I got it on Etsy. I think i paid too much for it but I'm from philly and it meant alot to me
  5. I'm walking down to a String Quartet version of Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton.
  6. We used a company tha makes plantable invitations! We can plant the invitation and thank you note when we eventually have a garden I love them so much and i think they came out great. The may not be very beachy but they were perfect for us. The wesite is: www.foreverfiances.com They have all different layouts, themes, colors, etc. The prices were pretty resonable too! Our will grow to be wildflowers but they have all different sorts of seeded paper. The service was great. They sent us proofs for us to approve. There was only 1 minor mishap-they ran out of the blue paper we needed and informed us it would be about a week for them to make a new batch. It wasn't a big deal, that is why we switched out thank you notes to yellow with blue writing. I think it turned out for the best actually.
  7. Has anyone getting married soon done a timeline for you photogrpahers for the "getting ready" portion of the photos? We are not purchasing a 2nd photographer, so I was wondering how I should go about getting ready: Should we have the photographers come to my room first to do pics of me and the girls getting ready and dressed, etc, then have the photographer go to the grooms room? or should we do it the other way around where the photographer goes to the groom first, then comes to me, then we go to the ceremony? <-- i think that might be the best bet, but i'm not too sure and I just wanted to know how other couples did it or were planning to do it. i'm also thinking about moving everything back one hour! hahaha i'm going to ask Anel for advice on that I think.
  8. We are doing our Cocktail Hour in the Desires Lounge. It's probably going to be super hot (August 4th) so we wanted to get everyone in the air conditioning for a little bit. If I wasn't doing that though, I think I would go with the Jacuzzi. I read some nice things on here about it and it seems like a great setting.
  9. Are all of the restaurants at the resort all inclusive? I feel a little silly asking this but one of my guests said she was browsing the website and she saw that it said that not everywhere was all inclusive. She was telling some of my other guests this as well and I just don't want everyone getting freaked out over nothing. Being on this board and reading tons of reviews of the resort, I feel like I would have remembered someone, somewhere mentioning that you have to pay at a certain restaurant. I know the spa menu is a la cart and I have that with all the pricing. And I gave that to her. My TA was able to get all of my guests comps to the spa so that is awesome.. Thanks!!!
  10. I just got an email from Cecilia. (evangelina --> yamina --> lorena --> cecilia?) The signature in her email says she works at Dreams Cancun.... She is asking me if we need anything from her before our arrival.... Has anyone else heard from her also? I think I'm just going to reply to her and ask if she has all my info, emails, etc.
  11. I'm not sure if someone mentioned this yet, if so, please forgive me I read about the first 4 pages of this thread and hadn't seen it. There are certain items for our wedding where the gratuity is already factored in. If you do not see it or if your WC gives you your invoice with "tax & fees", just ask them for the "tax and fees" breakdown...there may already be a gratuity included. Our wedding for instance has gratuity included for: Rehearsal DInner Reception Mariachi Trio So it looks like I will be tipping: Salon DJ Photogrphers? WC Travel Agent? Having worked in the service industry on large private events, it is always nice when the host of the party leaves you and extra tip, but it's definately not expected.
  12. http://www.dreamsresorts.com/drerc/webcam.html There's a wedding happening on the webcam now! at the gazebo! you can see the reception set up on the pool terrace (?) and it looks like another one set up over on the pool deck! ahhh i'm so excited!!!!
  13. I went to a wedding at Dreams Tulum last year and the couple had the Mariachi Trio at their Cocktail Hour. They were great! Granted, it's not the same trio that DRC will have but we really enjoyed it. It was pretty much, the ONE thing my fiance insisted on. They were cute and funny and played some songs we knew too!
  14. I'M 3 DAYS BEFORE YOU!!! I CANNOT WAIT! I'm not shipping anything. It sounds like I have about the same amount of items as you. I am going to pre-stuff my OOT bags with the small things (sunscreen, guest itineraries, pepto, etc) then lay them flat in a suitcase. I'm hoping that will help save some time and space. I was also told to contact the Photographers seperately also. They will be paid for seperate from the Wedding. The email address is: [email protected]. You can find the photo packages in the Dreams Wedding Guide (if you don't have it, just google "Dreams Riviera Cancun Wedding Guide-it's a PDF), that's what I did.
  15. i just ordered these today! just my style! http://www.zappos.com/volcom-check-list?zfcTest=fw:1
  16. I got the photo package with 6 hours of coverage. This is supposed to cover everything from me being at the spa, having my hair and make-up done, getting ready to the cake cutting, dances, toasts, etc. My hair and make-up appointment is for 12:00pm (ceremony at 4pm) and all those events that are supposed to be covered in the reception probably won't be happening until about 7:30-ish(6pm reception). Does anyone have any insight on how this will work? will the photographers take a break between the spa and me getting ready? or do I have to choose the 6 hour block that i want them for (let say, 2-8pm, for example)
  17. We used a travel agent and referred our guests to her as well. She offered our guests 4-6 night night options. Our trip will be 8/1/12-8/10/12. We asked that she schedule the trip options for our guests to leave Cancun on 8/6/12. This would ensure we got time alone without having to pack up and move to another resort.
  18. My fiance got his linen pants (brown) and linen shirt (white for him, light blue for best man) at Banana Republic. He got a khaki colored linen vest at islandimporters.com
  19. I don't have any picstures for flower color options, but for the centerpieces i chose, I asked Yamina if I could get light blue and yellow petals, and she said yes. The same goes for my flower girl petals. i requested light yellow, and she said that is fine. I would suggest just asking
  20. Did anyone schedule a meeting with the photographers? I want to but I feel like I'm over thinking it. I plan on meeting with Lorena (WC), Linda (Officiant) at a rehearsal on the beach, Anel (photos) and Maurico (DJ). It wouldn't be a long meeting, we would just talk about a list of desired photos I would want, what time I want to start, where my room is, introduce myself, etc. Any recommendations?
  21. I've read that some people have opted to get their guests Gift Cards to the spa at the resort. Or maybe you could think about a happy hour Catamaran cruise. I didn't really want to do OOT bags either but i did anyway :/
  22. Ditto to all of this. I'm nervous but doing my best to stay organized on my end so I don't freak out. I've set up a meeting 2 days before my wedding with Yamina. I'm waiting for Lorena to confirm that she will keep it. As long as she keeps that appointment I will feel ok because I know I will go over everything with her then. According to the last review that was posted a few days ago, it seems as though you can make any changes you need to once you arrive. That is what is comforting to me and let's me know that if I can make changes 2 days before, then everything will be a-ok. However it does stress me out to know that she might be the only WC....I really liked Yamina
  23. to the brides who have gotten married recently: the complimentary room for the groom the night beofre the wedding is included with most packages (based on availability).... were you able to utilize this or are the rooms usually booked?
  24. I have a question about the pictures. I know we will receive a slideshow, but does the resort mail your your photo book with photos? or will I just get digital lcopies that i will have to go have printed on my own?
