  1. my dress! Have my fitting coming up on August 20th! Couldn't be more excited!
  2. It so nice to see that a lot of brides have this "dress doubt" too. I also purcased a dress with all my BM and mom then later that day I couldnt stop thinking of another dress that I saw first and loved. Luckilly I caught it in time before they ahd started to make the dress and they let me switch! In regards to this dillemma, I looooooveeee the 2nd option. That dress is beautiful! I Think the lace and the overlay at the bottom will be perfect for the beach. Only you know how heavy it feels on, and you have to be the judge of that. As long as you feel like you wont be over heating in this 2nd dress I would stick to it! Just know its normal to have doubts!!! Good luck!
  3. Do you have any of your wedding pics from Sascha? How much did he charge and what kind of coverage did you get? The only concern I have with Adventure photos is some of their poses look kind of cookie cutter to me, but I suppose you could always have your own ideas for poses.. hmmm..
  4. I too was having this dillemma! My wedding colors are purple and turqoise, and after searching for BM dresses the ones that I liked ended up being in a bright, rich purple. Originally we decided the boys would wear khaki linen pants and white shirts but I wanted to ensure that my FI was different from the rest. After reading a ton of posts from other brides and examining pics online, I came accross this article: http://www.bridalguide.com/photo-of-the-day/bliss-events-contrasting-colors After seeing this, we decided to put the GM in turqoiuse shirts and the groom in white. I think it could make for some great photos, and since its a destination wedding I hope we can pull it off!
  5. I have also been contemplating this! Upon purchasing my dress I impulsively bought a long veil with beading scattered throughout. I am now second guessing myself. Is this look too formal for a desto wedding? We are getting married on a balcony that overlooks the water, so not directly on the beach. It was very expensive so I don't want to completely waste it, but I guess I could just use it for the at home ceremony. Has anyone else worn a long veil??
  6. Hey Ladies! Ok so after doing my homework and reading this thread I am so happy that I cam accross it! It is so nice to be able to have some questions answered as we all know how busy Pilar is... My Fiance and I are getting married Jan. 17, 2013 at the pergola at 4pm and receptionto follow in the bamboo room. After reading all of the reviews on the actual resort and this thread I am so excited! Thanks to all of the ladies who have taken so much of their time to help out the rest! Hopefully I will be able to post my review in good time! I just have a few questions: 1. I know one bride described the 2 types of tables round ones for 6-10 people and rectangular for up to 40 people. My fiance and I currently have 60 people with trips booked and about 20 or so that say they are coming that have not booked. Ideally I would like to have a head table and the guests seated at the round tables (14 total in the wedding party) Do any brides know the actual dimensions of the tables as I would like to bring down my own tablecloths? Does anyone have a similzr size party that had something that worked well? 2. What kind of items do they charge you for set up in terms of decor? I am looking at bringing my own lanterns, table cloths, napkins, chair bows? I read that the bows are $1/each for set up... 3. I know someone asked this already but does anyone have a script that the hotel is currently using for the ceremony? Have you brides all prepared your own or just gone with the standard from the hotel? 4. We have selected the divine menu and are looking at doing 2 different entrees to give people a choice between beef or fish. To the brides who have done this does the hotel typically keep the soup salad and dessert the same or do u have 2 complete menu options? I also love the tip from brides about how to identify which menu option has been selected for each guest. Again thanks so much to all the Now Jade brides who are offering advice and inspiration! Chantal
  7. Sorry my group size has increased so I am not sure this will work for me any more.. unless you can tell me where you originally purchased these from so I can add more?
  8. Thanks so much for the heads up! If that is the case that is SO cheap so we might as well consider an outside photog...Especially if they are only including an hour. I wonder if Pilar will let us trade our sweedish massages for extra photos....hmmmm..
  9. My FI and I both have a lot of friends/fam so we originally invited 132 people expecting about 50 of them to book. Currently we are at 60 people who have booked their flights and about 20 more people who say they are coming for sure (uh oh) We didnt exactly realize when we invited all of these people that the hotel was going to charge anything above and beyond 25 guests. At first we were pretty worried, but we are now realizing to get married at home would have cost us even more and wouldn't have been nearly as fun! I wouldn't change any of the people we invited, but would caution those who have not sent out invites to ensure that you understand that a lot of people will ask for +1's and just to be aware of the size of group that is included in your package so you do not bust your budget.
  10. My FI and I are doing an AHR since his Dad and my Grandmother will not be able to make the trip for health reasons. We are looking at keeping it pretty simple considering it will be the 3rd time we are getting married (1st at home before the wedding-legal just us, 2nd-desto wedding, and 3rd AHR) We are doing a ceremony in a church since his fam is catholic and mine is not, and then we were thinking of having something catered but keeping it fairly small IE wedding party, family, and people who couldn't come to the real deal due to pregnancies etc. We are hoping to keep the whole bill around $2000 but have not priced out venues just yet. His mom has also volunteered to help us out with the bill for this (yay) ! Hopefully we'll have a more solid price soon...
  11. I am reading a lot of posts that are saying Adventure photos only covers one hour of your wedding day. Is this legitimate? I asked Pilar in my last email but she just said she would copy the photographer on the email and I still have not heard from him (these people take so long to answer emails) My wedding is in Jan 2013 and I would love to know if I should be sourcing out another photographer. Also, does anyone know what the fee is to bring a photographer onto the resort. Thanks in advance!
  12. Do you have pics of these sashes and napkins?
