  1. I'm thinking that we are going to have at least 40- 60ppl so we are going to have several tables. I do like the lamp idea but I'm not sure about carrying them down there. I was having 3 bouquets and 7 boutonnieres (big family) so it's definitely not ideal to pay $20 plus tax for those. I have been doing some research and have a few ideas to try to keep the costs down. I was thinking of doing my own bouquets & boutonnieres with fake flowers (saw some on another forum) very cost effective and not bad looking. For the centerpieces I saw someone who bought a blue colored plate and put one candle in the middle then sand and seashells.
  2. So I got some quotes from Dreams on the bridesmaids bouquets, boutonnieres and centerpieces. I was highly disappointed on how expensive these things are especially the centerpieces I wanted. I just wanted some limes on a white plate with one lily and one candle $60...not what I expected. Also the boutonnieres $20 plus tax & bridesmaids bouquet $90 plus tax (not happening) so I'm going the DIY route at this point. I rather not DIY I hate crafty projects!! I'd rather pay for it to get it done and not have to travel with anything but theses prices are a bit excessive. Not to mention these are 2012 prices. What are you guys doing as far as centerpieces, flowers, etc?
  3. Hello All, I got an email from Anel who actually looks at this forum (Hi Anel!!!) Rodrigo Barcelo from AVI SPL is the resorts secondary DJ when DJ Mauricio at Visual Sounds is not available. She says he is a great DJ/MC with lots of experience. She gave me the reassurance I needed. Thanks Anel.
  4. I just got an email today from Rodrigo Barcelo from Innovative Audio Video Communications Made Simple as being my DJ. Has anyone worked with him? Doesn't seem like the normal DJ company everyone has been talking about with Mauricio. This is an AV company. I used to work for an AV company and all AV companies I've worked with do not specialize in DJ'ing.

  7. I haven't been on here since I booked my date of May 18th 2013. I'm in the process of purchasing a home so as soon as that is done I'm starting my planning process. In the meantime I'm trying to catch up on the thread I think I have about 50 pages to go. I did see someone else has the same date as I do, let me know who that is. Maybe we can talk about our big day since we are sharing it and to confirm that locations are not being double booked as I have seen someone post that. In any case the first thing on my list is to find a dress ECCKKK!! I have a friend who is going to officiate the wedding, if anyone has any ceremony scripts please send them over to me if you can, thanks in advance [email protected].
  8. Hi Lindsey, We are in central NJ. I finally got my date booked May 18, 2013. Excited! I have to call them anyway they charged my card twice. My wedding planner is going to be Gina. I just designed my save the dates and ordered them through Vistaprint. Let the planning begin!
  9. I haven't been on here in a while. I still don't have my date booked as Evangelina hasn't responded to my emails until my travel agent called them. Even then she just responded to my questions and didn't response to booking my date. I don't understand wouldn't you want to get the deposit...i'm in sales and that's the first thing you would do and worry about the questions later lol. Oh well I think i'm going to have to get some calling cards over the year to call them directly for anything important. It's definitely frustrating.
  10. Has anyone heard from Evangelina in the past week? I emailed her to get my date book but I haven't heard back. Since I want to put the deposit don't you think they would reply right away? Oh well I assume they are busy and saw the date in 2013 and will reply to me when they have time.
  11. per Evangelina you can get an outside vendor but you have to pay for a room. From what I read on the forum somewhere they have a list of approved vendors.
  12. Thanks for the info, definitely something to consider when picking our date. We want to avoid the hot summer months, the hurricane season, or the cooler months. So it was between March-May or November. My fiance wanted to do it in 2014 but I think that is way too long of an engagement but we need enough time to save up a wedding fund so we compromised for November 2013.
  13. I'm getting really excited spoke to my fiance about our date and we have a tentative November 30, 2013 (thanksgiving weekend). Does anyone know if the flights are really expensive during this time? I figured all the family would be together anyway so it wouldn't be a big deal and people wouldn't have to take too many vacation days to go. And if people need to spend Thanksgiving with others they can still do it and fly down on Friday.
