  1. We used a external hair and makeup team Norma Zurama PM Mac I would recommend her to absolutely anyone!!! she did my makeup my bridesmaid and my MOH and we all looked amazing. She asked me what look I wanted and I told her just make my eyes pop and make it look sexy and I loved my makeup, it was actually one of the best experiences we had. She brought a hairstylist with her and he also did a fantastic job on all our hair. I used extensions (for the first time ever, I was pretty nervous) showed him 2 pictures and he did such an amazing job with my hair. It lasted nearly all night. They came to the resort at 10, waited for us for half an hour (I thought they were coming at 1030) and they did our hair/makeup in my room....make sure you crank up the AC ha ha We had our reception by the seaside grill on the beach, close to where they have the beach ceremony and it was perfect. It gave us a beautiful view of the beach and ocean and enough privacy to make it feel intimate. I dont have pictures yet, we are waiting for pictures from our photographers and our guests (we didnt use our camera that day) once I get them I will post them. The dinner was great! We had the italian salad, fillet mignon steak with shrimp and mashed potatos and chocolate cake for dessert and everything was delicious. I love me some steak and I was tempted to ask for another one it was so good. Our cake was a vanilla cake with chocolate filling, it was good but it didnt blow my mind. I turned into a lazy beach bumn the second we got there so I didnt participate in all the excursions everyone else did but I did go to the Tulum ruins which are incredible and we went snorkeling in Los Dios cenote which was alot of fun. I also snorkeled near the beach and went kayaking (we saw some sting rays and a manta ray) Our guest's also went shopping into playa del carmen twice, deep sea fishing, explorer land....least I think it was called that and they went to Chichen Itza. Everyone said they had a great time at the resort and the excursions and I think anything you plan on doing will ultimately be enjoyable....one thing we wanted to do was take a tour bus into coco bongo and do the party pub crawl but by the end the resorts entertainment team was so much fun we decided not to.
  2. I did it! I hope the link works if not search under the Dreams Tulum Resort reviews and it will be there Our Dreams Tulum Review...LONG! I will post more pictures once we get them all together
  3. Murmel- You are right, its 300 per person so 600 in total. We didnt know that (even though the immigration card says it!) McLecker- Not a thing broke! Amazingly. All of our stuff made it to Mexico and from.
  4. Oh my, I cant seem to find where I can post my review!! Maybe I am blind but can you ladies point me in the right direction?
  5. I finaly have my review done, I am waiting to get a couple more pictures from our photographers and then it will be posted
  6. I should add that are luggage was pulled aside with the red light and inspected in Cancun it was a pain but in the end we explained we were getting married in Tulum and we paid a $20 tax fee because we had brought more then $300 worth of stuff into Mexico.
  7. We had 3 suitcases designated to luggage (6 suitcases in total!) One suitcase was strictly OOT bags that were already packaged. The other 2 were for decoration (paper lanterns, white glass lanterns, led candles, 2 drift wood garlands, picture frames, easels, flower petals, sparklers, tall skinny candles, sea shell pew decorations, table runners and much more) We booked with Sunwing and we booked under the "elite plus" seating which gave us early plane boarding, one extra suitcase with 10 extra kg (so 2 extra suitcases and 30kg each) Our uncle had a carry on so he took one of our suitcases. It is tricky packing all of your stuff down to your destination but its no impossible! I used bubble wrap and tissue paper to wrap the breakables and did my best to strategically pack everything and all of our stuff made it to Mexico without any breakage.
  8. Hi Ladies! We just got home today from our wedding today and Ive slowly started my review on the resort and all that fun stuff so it will be on here soon with as many pictures as I can cram ha ha Just to let everyone know, they are doing renos to parts of the resort incuding the disco and was close for 6 out of the 7 nights we were there however they have totally made up for it and had a disco set up on the beach!!! which happened to be way better than the one indoors so dont fret
  9. For previous brides using the chapel, what did you do for ceremony music? We have a play list created and we have been un able to decide on whether to rent the speakers or bring our ipod dock to use. What did you ladies do?
  10. Hi Everyone! Hopefully this thread is still frequanted, I am getting married on October.23 2023 and I have been emailing Ivan and Patty and they aren't getting back to me. Ive been trying to confirm our times and a rough schedule for the reception....ive sent 3 emails requesting he get back to me and I havent heard anything Has any other brides had this problem? I am starting to get worried
  11. Would anyone have a good map of tulum? . I tried to get one from google map but I cant seem to figure out how to copy the map And I wasn't able to find one when I searched the other forums on here.
  12. April2012- Congratulations on your wedding! Your question is a good one, I didn't think to even ask about that. We hired a DJ and a florist and we were charged one external vendor fee for the DJ which was $120. As for the florist, we are having the florist drop off the flower arrangements and vases and we are going to set them up so we weren't charged for another external vendor fee. Hopefully someone else will know for sure if they charge you per person.
  13. tulumbride- Im not sure why the stores wouldnt pop up under the names. All I did when I bought mine was type in paper lanters and quite a few options popped up. I just made sure I didn't have to pay shipping when I was picking mine. I haven't received a quote yet for our set up, we have ALOT of stuff to set up including the lanterns ha ha so hopefully it wont be ridiculous. I wasnt told about the 120$ charge for bringing in your own DJ. We just sent our planning forms and that info wasnt in there. We were told (and its included in the paperwork) that we are only allowed 3 hours for the DJ and we have to pay extra per person for another hour...that is pretty much the only thing thats bugging me since we have paid for 5 hours of DJ services. We end up paying an extra 350 for the extra hour. We're having our reception on the beach!!
  14. The colors are perfect, I was nervous buynig something from ebay but Im very happy I did!
  15. deedreams, We ordered our paper lanterns off of ebay and I love them. I used 2 different site stores, one is called sunboy_zhang and the other is called wangleisky0000 (I dont actually know if this is the store name or the username....Im sort of ebay stunted ha ha) I ordered ~50 assorted sizes and white, blue and orange and it was all relatively inexpensive, about 50 bucks!! and no shipping which is the best part We ordered just the plain paper lanterns and bought a big value pack of LED candle lights from Jysk, they flicker and look really good in them. Depending on which type of lanterns you get will decide how the lights go in. Ours has a holder for them in the middle, its the size of a tealight so the LED candles fit perfectly. I think Im going to glue them in or tape them just to be safe though. Hope this helps!!
  16. Tulumbride 2013 I have the flower guide if you still need it to.I will try and email it you today
  17. I love the packet idea!! I was hoping to do something similar and youve given great inspiration
  18. Great! thanks for the heads up I'll be making a trip there tomorrow!
  19. I should add that we just recieved our wedding form planning sheet from Aurora, this included the flower gallery, lighting gallery, cake gallery etc. so I am actually going to compare what it would cost the resort to do our centerpieces vs. Julieta. I actually didnt know our package included centerpieces so I am now wondering what the price difference will be I managed to find my inspiration pics...heres what I am going for but the pink will be orange and peach Did any previous brides up end going with the resort florist? or is anyone thinking of doing this?
  20. maxandkatie- The chapel has AC now I was really happy when Anabel said it is fully air conditioned. We are also giving out program fans as well, just in case. beabride- Congrats on your resort choice!! I really think the Tulum location is incredibly beautiful. For our ceremony, we hired Julieta (she's a florist a few other DT brides have used) We are having a flower arrangement for each pew with petals lining the isle and she is also doing 2 bigger arrangements for the top of the isle...I tried to found my inspiration picture we used but I cant! She is also doing our reception center pieces, her prices are great its under 1500 for everything including my bouquet and one bm bouquet (we are going to use the bouquet and corsages/boutiniers included in the package as well) Also, we have program fans with ribbon tied on in our wedding colors. Anabell sent me the dimensions for the round tables I can find it for you if youd like
  21. Where did you have your ceremony? We're having ours in the chapel and I'm hoping the AC will be on full blast ha ha. We are also getting legally married (August.16...so soon!!) before the wedding in Mexico
  22. maxandkatie, Thank you for those options!! I found the hand blessing ceremony and we are going to have that in our ceremony for sure. And "Love" by Roy croft as a reading and I also love the reading your 10 year old nephew read, very very cute and personal. Your vows are also great!
  23. Slightly off topic, what is everyone doing for their vows? I am trying to find ways to make ceremony longer and we have been looking for different vows to combine. Is anyone having readings done?
  24. Hi! I forgot to update my day change ha ha my bad...we had initially decided to have our wedding in February and then I got impatient and we bumped it up a few months
