  1. Thanks! I decided to go with real touch and ordered a bouquet.
  2. http://tinytuna.tumblr.com/post/3567197791 Hi ladies! I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a veil style. I was thinking elbow length, should it be embellished or should I avoid it due to the bodice detail. The veil will be ivory, my hair will be down in curls, and it's long down to my back. The veil should be longer than my hair, right? It's all very confusing! Any suggestions would be helpful Thanks in advance. Hope the pictures worked out, if not click the link and you'll see them.
  3. I don't think it's a bad sign. I noticed that several of the same companies run under different sites. My SO said that it's probably in case they get shut down somewhere they can still run from another site. Even chinese local stores here tend to do the same thing, or are constantly shutting down/re opening under different names or in registered under different family members. It's a strange practice but we've got used to it.
  4. rosieposie, it's pretty!! The stuffing in the bag probably caused the wrinkling. Hang it up and have it professionally iron/steamed and it will look fab on your big day!!!
  5. Blakkinu, have you tried smartbrideboutique.com it's a consignment type of website, it's where I found my dress. Here are a few shots of my dress, a maggie sottero tabrett lynette that I negotiated for $575 Maybe you can find a steal? If the links don't work the site will: http://tinytuna.tumblr.com/post/3567197791

  8. blakkinu, we're going to try to help you as much as we can!!! I don't understand why Coral is not available, I sent emails with pictures and they came back so my SO said it might be their national firewall? If you sent a text email and it went through I don't know why she didn't respond, she has things on ebay everywhere. I'm not sure but if she has some ready made things for sale in your size and taste maybe you can bid on it?
  9. It's just a shame she never replied to my emails when I sent them, but judging by her work she and her team do it very professionally and using good fabrics and lace. Tailoring is not an easy job, it requires a lot of work and professionalism for a garment to look really good. It's the details in the sewing and ironing after every step is very important so seams look flat and nice. My mother used to tell me that so many people don't realize that and it's why garments look sloppy, even many professionals can be sloppy. It is so expensive in our countries because it's labour intensive even if you buy the fabric yourself on sale, it would be nice if there was a balance or being able to select your own fabrics. I faced this issue when I contacted all the other companies asking about silks, and they refused to tell me if they can get any because they kept quoting the low prices and saying it would cost so much more, but it was my request, and if they're tailoring for me I should be able to choose the fabric I want, I know the prices here in Canada and was willing to buy them at that rate but was pretty sure that in China they would be at least the same or a bit cheaper anyway. The message just never got across, and others refused to do it. I just want to say to all the others out there to make sure they select a pattern and understanding the fabrics that they will use in China to make the dress. I would look closely at examples that they've done and see what fabrics are available and what would look the best according to their supplies and your taste. Over complicated garments are not always guaranteed to work out.
  10. I'm 24 People mistaken me for a teenger though. As for hassling, I can relate, I was engaged at 17 a few times.
  11. This year on our bdays at the end of the year I'll be 25 and he'll be 30. People mistaken me for a 17 year old.
  12. I was in the eglinton area doing shopping and I see "TARGET" so we drove in the parking lot just to see and then behind it is DAVIDS BRIDAL and I was like "I'm sure we don't have that in Canada!" Because I used to look through their site as a teenager to see the gowns a few years ago. Anyway, it said grand opening so I thought to just take my SO and we could look at the styles on the mannequins. We got swarmed walking in and they insisted they set us up with a consultant even though I was in my shopping clothes and not in the mood to shop, especially WITH my groom by my side! I just let them take me around and nothing caught my eye, the shoes are very cute and all the bridesmaid stuff is convenient to get from a store like david's. They are having a sale on March 3rd-6th, so they pressured me to make an appointment and I decided to combine it with the sale date on thursday but now I already found a dress and it seems even the accessories are only discounted if you buy a dress from them www.davidsbridal.ca I will cancel my appointment and go any other day while in the area to check the shoes, at $50 the styles are nice, reviews said to make sure you try them on and walk around a bit as the sizes are a bit odd but overall they're saying they are comfy. They have veils and flip flops, the accessories are cute. Lots of stuff. The vera collection isn't bad, you can check them out online, all seem to be in the $1200 range.
  13. From Ajax here, hello neighbour Also haven't planned the destination yet, thinking Cuba (paradisus rio de oro) or Mexico! Nov. 2011! Good luck exploring the forum.
  14. http://www.coralsbridal.com/2421-wd10451f-strapless-mermaid-lace-appliques-wedding-dress-wd10451f.html If the neck was straight, the belt had sequins instead and the bottom flared out a little higher with more gathers in the skirt fabric it would look pretty. The colour too in white as I think this is cream. I think the lace in the bottom looks quite good.
  15. http://www.flickr.com/photos/36109745@N02/5485306230/ Maybe this will help? I'm not sure if the bodice is separate from the skirt but it seems it will fit better this way perhaps as they won't make a mistake if it's all in one big piece. Did you by any chance try on the original dress, is it a maggie sottero? If you can somewhere in your local town find this dress and try it on and take detailed pictures of it, would that be possible? Especially to see if there is a seam in the waist under the sequin decoration. Also you need to feel the farbic on the original dress, to me it looks almost like a soft lace veil over the under dress and it has many gathers at the bottom as you can see because the pattern flares out a lot, it's beautiful! But it needs to flow which means the fabric needs to hang and have some nice weight or softness NOT like stiff organza here: Looking at some examples at coral bridal because her lace seems high quality. Not sure if she's trying to duplicate your same dress but the material used here looks soft, she would need to flare it out a lot more to create the nice pleats in your dress but with the soft lace over it can look really nice. http://www.coralsbridal.com/2708-wd10386f-empire-lace-wedding-dress--wd10386f.html Here it's slightly more flared in this dress, with lace overlay as well: http://www.coralsbridal.com/2660-wd10548f-lace-wedding-dress-plus-size-bridal-dress-wd10548f.html This is mermaid which you're not looking for HOWEVER If this flared out a little higher on the hips and more fabric was added to the pieces it would look right, notice the extensive pleating on the bottom near the floor. http://www.coralsbridal.com/2450-ms119f-ivory-wedding-dress-mermaid-wedding-gown-ms119f.html Through my research of the chinese sites I noticed cora's samples to be quite good, with the nice lace and all, she just never got my email as it kept getting returned to me. Please let me know if I can help in any other way, I'd be happy to!
  16. blackinu, I realized in the first picture that they turned it into a mermaid. My mother went to design school and taught me how to sew at 12, I could have seen that and created and A line pattern back then!! Don't know how the seamstresses in China missed it. Didn't want you to feel bad, as if you liked the new style it was all good, but now that you've mentioned these issues I'd say send it back! Also the material they used is a stiff organza in the bottom and it does not flow. They should have used a soft sheer fabric that drapes over another fabric and in an A line-ish fitted dress (the pattern is in pieces I believe from the original picture) Wish they could have delivered this. Keep us posted!!
  17. That's so sweet!! It's lovely to see that the person marrying you both understood your arrangement. I was thinking if I told ours that she'd think we're not seriously taking the marriage thing seriously, lol.

  19. No, it does not sound stupid at all. I told my SO that when we call the lady in our home town to make an appointment that we explain that she does the bare minimum and just speeds it up to get it over with, he laughed. I can totally relate to everyone else's thoughts about the same situation. Would love to know where she got it done in 10 mins, because if it's in the GTA we can try going there, the lady in our home town requires meetings and scheduling, it just seems too much!
  20. It's so good to know we have so many people locally who design these real touch bouquets. I contacted a few to ask for a specific flower that I'm having a real hard time with. Thank you !!
