  1. I booked Brian Nejedly for our photos. We're getting married November 2014. He discounts half of the $800 fee so I took $400 off the package that I picked. He said that the resort will bill our room for the $800 fee. Just a heads up. That is what he told me, if you were thinking that they vendor has to pay.
  2. Ours is Nov. 28 this year!! I am doing free everything lol. Did you bring anything with you for decorations? Do you have any pictures? How was the weather? ah I need turquoise for November. Think you can hide it away somewhere for me? lol I think sharing is an awesome idea! $2900 for the both of you? I got my quotes after. Our group is flying from two different Canadian provinces. One is paying 1300 + tax and the other is 1600 + tx (7 nights) I looked into hiring someone local and bringing in because I can't find many reviews on the spa there and this girl has awesome reviews and pictures of her work. She charges $70 per hair and makeup so that would be $140 each for me and 3 bridesmaids = $520 and she charges $100 travel fee and her and her partner require a $90 guest pass each to get on the resort so that is over $800!!!! Starting to think the spa is looking better.
  3. I'm doing turquoise and accents of black with white polka dots. My girls are wearing shirt black dresses and I am just going with a colourful in season bouquet
  4. I didn't find it Or start again. Mine was just simple with our names, resort, date, wedding website and password. I put a small starfish on it but I bought some self adhesive half pearls so I think I will find a clam clip art to go on the new one. Mine was small so I couldn't put a picture. Want to reduce costs so I was going to print 6-8 per page, hole punch them and tie with a polka dot ribbon. I think it would be super cute though. To make the most of the space you could put the picture on one side with your names over it or the date and the other information on the flip side.
  5. I designed my own luggage tag save the date a few months ago. Finally got all the supplies read, sat down to print it and it isn't on my hard drive. I recently bought a mac and wiped my PC and saved everything on an external hard drive. Now I don't have Word (because of the mac) and I have to start from scratch. Sad bear I thought I posted it on a forum here, but can't seem to find it.
  6. I haven't sent mine out yet, but I just finished them today. I am obsessed with nail polish and all of my girls know it. I bought an OPI shade that we can all wear to the wedding.
  7. I stayed at Now Sapphire two summers ago. It was beautiful you won't be disappointed
  8. Thanks Yassy. We do has Sunwing in Alberta just not in my city so guests will have to fly another airline to those locations. Which isn't a huge deal since seat sales are generally easy to come by. Ugh really, only 8 months before? I guess my save the dates will be the nudge to my guests to start saving early. I got a good deal too but they were only projected rates. The actual ones could be much better. I'm not locking in this soon. Doesn't make sense.
  9. I love this thread. I am doing whatever it takes to stay around 6,000-7,000 dollars. I chose an off peak time in Jamaica and I am going with the free package. Not sure what I plan on bringing for decorates (aisle, dinner, chairs) but I want to keep it minimal. After all, the reasons for destination for me were stress-free (as possible), less planning, cheaper and I get to have a holiday with my family and friends since we live in a different province. I created my own luggage tags for STDs on Word and am going to print them on card stock, attach a polka dot ribbon, and viola. I have decided to send out STD with our wedding date & time, resort, and "for further details and to RSVP visit our wedding website..." I know that some people see invitations as being very important, and that's fine, but I personally see them as a waste of time and money. The website will have all the information that my potential guests will require. I know people worry about pleasing relatives who won't be able to attend. I am sending my STDs to EVERYONE and on our welcome page on our site, I included a blurb about the guests who can't make it. We will take a moment on our special day to reflect on all of the important relationships in our lives, and I want you all to know that you will be in our thoughts. Something along those lines. I want to go super casual for my boys and will probably get their outfits from Old Navy, as a friend of mine did who married in Cuba last year. She waited until the end of the season sale to order the shirts and sandals. I want to rider my dress and BM dresses from one of those China Made online dress sites, but am a little nervous. Did anyone else do this? Any more tips would be awesome. Happy budget wise planning!
  10. Kpounder, I am doing luggage tags too. I designed my one on Word. I am just going to print them on nice card stock. My colours are black with white polka dots and turquoise. Just did a simple white background with black and turquoise letting and I will attach a polka dot ribbon once they've been hole punched. Not sure when I will send them.
  11. The pictures look amazing. I am thinking about booking him for my wedding in november 2014. I know it is while away but I have checked with him and he his available for my date. I can't get over the cost of the photographers in Jamaica. I am from Newfoundland Canada and my friend who recently got married paid her photographer $1000 and it was for all-day coverage, cd of images, plus an album. How many hours/what package of his did you go with? Any advice would be helpful.
  12. Any past or future brides from Newfoundland? My fiancé and I are getting married in Jamaica in November 2014. I would really love to bring something from home/incorporate a piece of home in my photographs. Any ideas?
  13. I did it through the online form and I used the confirmation code that was emailed to me. nothing is charged until I get there. its just to hold the date
  14. ladies I have a date confIrmed with my credit card holding it (November 28, 2014). I am living in Fort Mcmurray Alberta. Most guests will be flying from Alberta and Newfoundland. Just heard back from a local TA who specializes in destination weddings. She says that not many Canadian all inclusive travel companies offer packages to Riu resorts. She can fly us out of Edmonton but any fort mac guests will have to book their own travel from here to there. And they won't be offering flights from Newfoundland until sometime in 2015!!! Since the date is over a year away they don't have any rates right now but they provided her with aprojected rate for November 2014. from Edmonton it will cost $2088. I am worried that with adding flights from here and guests flying from Newfoundland that this resort will end up being unaffordable for my guests. My TA is recommending switching resorts but I have my heart set on ROR. What did past ROR brides end up paying? What were future ROR brides quoted? Any fall 2014 quotes? Any ROR newfie brides? How did you deal with flight issues? Can anyone recommend a different TA? Maybe I'd be better off doing it without one? I used air Canada vacations last summer for Mexico and they were awesome. would really like to use them again but they don't offer packages to Riu.
  15. I am wondering if anyone else used Roan Robinson? His work looks really nice. I just emailed him for pricing.
  16. That's so good to hear I know that she must be swamped with emails. She is sometimes delayed but she is just one person. Good to know that in person things will be taken care of. Thank you for easing our minds.
  17. Any idea if any of these sites allow you to keep the domain name for longer than a year. Our wedding is 17 months away, but I want to get started. The only thing is I don't want to loose it 5 months prior to the big day.
  18. We got engaged 6 months after we met. We were set up by mutual friends. The night we were introduced we stayed up all night talking. That night he said, "I'm going to marry you" and 6 months later there was a ring on my finger. I have requested Riu Ocho Rios for November 28, 2014 - 2 year anniversary of officially being in a relationship.
  19. I am thinking Nov 28 2014 for our wedding. From what I've been reading, it is just at the end of the hurricane season and therefore I should get cheaper rates. Have you talked to any other November Jamaica brides?
  20. My fiancé and I are 99% sold on ROR as well. A friend of mine attended a wedding there. She said that I was beautiful and very affordable. My tentative date is Nov 28, 2014. Long ways away but I want to give myself enough time to plan and my guests enough time to save. Not sure what to do about a photographer yet, as I haven't read very stellar reviews on the resort photographer. What package did you book? I wanted to go as cheap as possible but the free wedding has a limit of 10 people. The caprice (most expensive) of course has a more reasonable number of 40.
  21. Congrats on your engagement. I got engaged on may 31st. I have my heart set on Jamaica. I was thinking November 2014 as well as I want to give my guests and myself at least a year. So hard to narrow it down. If I get any suggestions on my part I'll fill you in. Good luck
