  1. Congratulations!! Im so happy to hear that it all worked out. You looked amazing!! If you dont mind im just a ltitle curious about the DJ that you were not happy with. How was the music for the ceremony?? Who took care and controlled it? Do you think that it would be better for us to just rent the audio equptment? With the DJ that you used would it have at all been possible for one of your guests to use the mic and make the annoucments that he didnt do? Cause i was just thinking of having a friend of mine do that part.. is that allowed? How was Emma??
  2. La plaza is this open air area that she sent me photos of an its lovely. So i just went with it. But the rate things are going I feel that all the descisons that ive made can quickly be changed. Will soon find out. Ive been waiting on a response for 2 weeks from my last email send to Emma. She was doing well with responding to emails in a timley manner, but not so much anymore. The reason we doing the gala room is because we having over 40 ppl and i want to have it as tradional as possible. Just ask Emma where your options are for the cockatil hours. Elizabeth did mention to me there is an area right on the beach as well, so just see what they have to offer. I started the planning and emailing process as soon as we got engaged, which was in January. And im glad we did cause the rate that it takes to get a response who knows where I would be with my planning if i didnt start right away. I feel nervour because i feel that everything that has been confirmed with me is going to be taken away and changed. But lets see what happens. I actually did just send a nasty email to Emma our WC when she tried to tell me i couldnt have a buffett in the gala room and that I had to change of my ceremony. But she was quick to respond to that, and basically told me that everything she had mentioned that needed to be changed did have to be ne more. So that makes me confused.. do they just change what they want to be changed? i think you do have to put your foot down at times and get a little angry when need be. It was the last thing that I wanted to do was get angry but It hadt o be done. I gave my deposit based on what I was confirmed with. But ne ways, enough negativity, all of our weddings are going to be wonderful. You dont see many brides that have much negative reviews on there weddings. How is the rest of your planning coming along??

  4. We as well have about 50 ppl attending. We are currently in the process of putting down our deposits. We are also having our ceremony at the 2 leveled gazebo..is that the riviera gazebo? Were then having our cocktail hour in la plaza area and then our reception in one of the gala rooms. How has your communication with the WC been? Any problems? How is your music.. im having such a hard time.. any ideas or suggestions?

  6. Yes, the gale room is private. You have to have 40 ppl min. Then you have a gala menu to choose from. If you have over 40 guests defintley asked about it. Thats what im going with
  7. I know how you feel. My wedding isnt till APril 2012 and things are getting irritating. Prices are changing and what i have already been told i could do are changing. But we have to remember that at the end of the day its all going to work out. Im trying to just let it be what it will be. Its going to be beutiful no matter what. What have you decided on f or your wedding plans?
  8. Hello everyone, Im having a little trouble with my gala dinner/reception for our wedding at the Grand Rivieria/Sunset Princess hotel. I was told by my WC that a buffet was available for the gala room. My Fi and I had gone over the details and pick that we wanted an Italian buffet. Yesterday, I receive an email from the new WC advising me that they dont actually offer buffets in the gala room, only the beach party and out side restuarant provide buffets. So i was a little upset last night figuring that all these details were already dealt with when I had the other WC. So my questions to you is has any one had the plated gala menu before?? What did you have? Was it good? How is the serving size? How long does it take for the whole dinner to be served? Any advice would be greatly appriciated
  9. Ahhh.. im so confused. I hate that were all being told different prices and options. I just received an email from the new WC Emma who told me that now i cant have a buffett in the gala room, when Elizabeth already told me that was my option. ANd now i have to change my wedding time tooo...
  10. Hi again Ladies, So i have received another email from Emma, and now im not happy at all. She told me that I have to change the time of the wedding ceremony to an hour earlier when I have already worked our cocktail hour and photos aroud having the wedding at 3pm, not to mention it is on all the invitations that have already been sent out. I know an hour isnt a big beal, but why the change when I had already given my deposit and confirmed all this with Elizabeth months ago. What else is going to eb changed??? Then she proceeds to tell me that we actually cant have the italian buffet in the gala room, which again was decided with Elizabeth months ago. I dont have a problem doing the plated meal but we just didnt like any of there options. Has any one had the plated meals there? Has any one had a buffett in a gala room? Please help..
  11. I just got an email from Emma the other day and im nervous too. It didnt seem like she knows what is going on. This is not good. Im just going to re-email all my past detailed emails that I sent to Elizabeth and sent them to Emma. In regards to the having to pay for the use of the beach.. thats crazy! Emma also changed the price of day passes. I was told by Elizabeth $70 for my photographer and make-up artist and now Emma said $75. I know $5 isnt much but still.. why the change. Im sure everything will work out, You just have to get there and deal with here face to face. Email wedding details is hard. I wish you the best of luck.

  13. I am using flowers by julieta. I felt the same way with using the resorts decor. They dont really have much. Julieta is actually not to badly priced. I am getting her to decorate 6 tables and the head table with the vases, (flowers in water) centerpeices and candles and lighting up under each table to give it a romatic feel in the room, she is also doing my flowers and the BM and the groomsman boutonniers and she is charging about $1000. So you just tell her your vison of what you want and she will give you a quote. I had a friend use her and she said that she was great.   14. Yes, your right..I know that it will all work out and everything will be great. I think that we al ljust get so stressed because we have no control over anything because its in Mexico. I know that there might be a few bumps along the way and even when we get there, but at the end of the day its going to be wonderful. For my decorations I have an outside vendor doing my flowers and decorating the receprtion for me, and she isnt too badly priced. You just send her your vison of what your looking for and she will give you a quote. I had a gf of mine use her for her decorations and she said she was wonderful. Just a thought instead of you guys bringing everything down yourselfs. Im also trying to have a welcome dinner night and use our dinner that is included in our weding package, but i was just told that ne more that 50 pp we cant do it, so now im thinking of using it the night before the wedding as a rehearsal dinner for the bride party and family, and this way the other guests wont feel too left out. Where are you having your cocktail hour?

  16. I have also been given different prices, not on the DJ but on food. I was told for the italian buffett in the gala room it was $72/pp and now in the last email i received from Elizabeth she told me $92.. thats kind of a big jump. I wanted to just get the equpitment as well, but its cheaper to get DJ, which I thought was a little strange. I just hope that the DJ will play my ipod and the song list that I have worked hard on creating. Elizabeth told me he would, but I dunno. My issue with theses changing WC is that I hope they keep all the details that we all have worked so hard to put together. I dont want to have to re-explain what my vision is. Do you think that everything will be and stay the same. But i think your right about making most of the desicions once we get there and meet with them. Now I think all they want to know is when, how many and your location of ceremony and dinner.

  19. Me too!! I emailed her about 2.5 weeks ago and have yet to receive a response. Im glad im not the only one. I wonder what is happening over there. Im getting nervous too. Maybe she is away. But i dont know.. I mean i email her at the begining of August and again last week and havent heard anything. I dont think that she would be away from 3 weeks. Please let me know if you get a response. Maybe we should email another WC and see if they know anything..
  20. Yah i think were going to go with the resort DJ too. I think if I just give him my ipod he can work it out. I just want to make sure its songs we know and that will get everyone pumped.   21. Oh wow.. that does sound amazing!! I would love to do something like that but i was afraid of it being too hot or muggy out. But it sounds amazing. Im starting to stress a but now with everything..but i know it will all come together. Are you having a DJ? What gazebo r you using? With your cocktail hour does it in clude appys?? how about your music. im having a really hard time trying to figure out music. Can you give me some ideas....
  22. WIth the Thai Beach clud i have seen the pics and it does look amazing. Are you just having you dinner there and then party on the beach? Do you know how many ppl the thai club will hold. And with the $100/pp does that mean that its a private dinner? How long do you get the use of the resturant?
  23. Im also getting married APril 2012 and we have choosen the gala room option for the reception as well. We are going to have about 50 guests and she told me it was depending on what dinner you choose. You have the option of doing a sit down plated meal, which we didnt like because all of the meals had items on them that we just didnt like and those prices varied and were a little pricy. Then you can choose to have a buffett. They give you the options of the buffet menus and then you pick from there. I was qouted it was $70/pp with booze included for the italian buffet, but in a recent email i received from WC Elizabeth she told me the price was $92/pp. Im waiting on an email back to as of why the price changed. But other than that that all you pay for when using a gala room. I have also found an offsite decorator to come in decorate the gala room. So the price of the gala room all depends on what meal you choose and the amount of people that you have coming. I do know that you have to have at least 40 ppl to have a gala room, or if you dont then you have to pay the extra amount. There is no cost to actually use the room, it just the food and liqour you choose. Any other questions let me know. What date is your daughters wedding?
