  1. Hi there, Wright doesn't charge fees because (I think) their commissions come from the resorts and vendors they book for you. They are a great company. I worked with Patty, and she was great! The owner of Wright Travel is also the owner of this site. From my experience, the bad agents charge fees up-front and the reputable ones recieve their commissions from the resorts and cruiselines, etc. That was my small, terrible experience though, that may not be the industry standard. Here's some reviews: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/wright-travel-agency-destination-wedding-and-honeymoon-specialists
  2. It's actually formatted for 8.5x11". I'm not sure if you could use a rack card. I just used glossy paper (text weight). I hope this helps!
  3. I agree with Speckles, it was a little weird being a destinatin bride. But if I did it again, I would set up an email specifically for the show and use a fake phone number. You will get so much spam after those shows it's not even funny!
  4. We stayed at the LaQuinta Inn Airport East (i think it was east), and they were good - clean and comfortable, with a Benigans right outside within walking distance. They had free parking for the week, a pool, free breakfast and free shuttle to the port. However, if you're having an embarkation day wedding, you might want to set up private transportation to make sure you get to the port on time. Their shuttle was CHAOS and didn't start until late morning. I would have paid for a private one if I could do it over. We didn't have an embarkation day wedding, so I'm not 100% sure about hair & make-up in Miami. I don't know who Carnival uses for their vendor, but I know other girls have spoken highly of Tiffany from Professional Elegance www.professionalelegance.com and Beauty by Noel www.beautybynoel.com.
  5. Awesome, glad you made it over here! This site is so incredibly helpful for the wedding stuff, while CC is more helpful for the cruise details, it seems. Thanks for the compliments, that's very sweet I would totally recommend the Liberty, we've sailed on that ship twice. We chose it mostly because of the itinerary - stopped in St. Thomas, only two sea days, lots of ports (only one I hadn't been to before), price, Spring Break dates Saturday to Saturday (one of my BMs is a teacher and it had to be specific for her Spring Break). We only had 13 guests cruising with us and 8 more met us on the island for the wedding. The Liberty really is a beautiful ship and recently had some updates done to it, we loved it. It probably doesn't really compare to the Allure or Oasis, but it really worked well with all of our requirements!
  6. Welcome to BDW! We cruised to St. Thomas on the Carnival Liberty. I would LOVE to do an Allure or Oasis cruise some day! It was too cost-prohibitive for us for the wedding :-( I think it will really depend on your must-have guests and what they think their travel budget will be. Have you talked to parents or bridal party about your options yet? Good luck! Happy planning!
  7. we got this scoring board and folder (you could use a butter knife, rules and magazine though), and our stuff came out wrinkle-free: http://www.amazon.com/Martha-Stewart-Crafts-Scoring-Envelope/dp/B0036FDKZS
  8. I opted not to do the little inside cuts, just the corner rounding. I had to make 100 invites and it wasn't worth it with my OCD. I think some girls use manicure scissors?
  9. Thanks, Shay! He was there in every picture at every event. By the end of the trip, people were fighting over who got to take care of him
  10. thank you, ma'am! mine wasn't very tropical but with the right colors and some orchids, I totally think you can achieve the look you're talking about! here was mine at the wedding:
  11. I guess I'm biased since I had a brooch and real touch bouquet, but I think it's a great idea! And I agree with Miss ChocoTaco, the sizes of the brooches would probably impact the kind of flowers. I used just white roses for mine, since they were nice and full and the brooches nestled between them nicely. I couldn't get the roses, callas and brooches to play nicely together when I tried it. All of your inspiration pics are gorgeous! But 3 and 6 would be my picks, they just look like they would work well with brooches to me. Can't wait to see your pics!

  15. We were at Limetree Beach, and it was so peaceful and quiet. Even with three ships in port that day, we were the only people at Limetree. It was an absolutely perfect day :-)
