  1. Have you found your shoes yet Tori? I'm still looking for blue shoes!
  2. Check out this site for maracas: http://www.amols.com/catalog/product/MX702 Other BDW brides have ordered them and love them! They have different sizes, too. Not sure what the shipping is to Canada, but these are definitely cheaper than the ones you are looking at. They are also cheaper if you buy in bulk.
  3. @ Tori - Celtic girl is right - no linen. Their really nice lightweight suits (I think they are 100+ thread count) start at around $400, and they would be the only ones light enough. My FI and I prefer the look of these to linen. Even if you don't pick up a suit there, you could pick up dress shirts, ties, dress socks, etc at 50% off!
  4. Just posted this in the groom attire thread but thought I'd share it with all the Canadian ladies! If you are looking for suits still, Moore's has an amazing deal right now. Bring in any mens wear to donate (pants, a tie, whatever), and you get a coupon for 50% of your next purchase. The coupon expires a month after you receive it. You can get coupons up until the end of August. Moore's lightest weight suits are really nice but expensive - starting at around $400. The suit my fiance likes is Ralph Lauren and its about 450, but only $225 during this sale. This applies to an entire purchase so you can buy all your suits on one bill and get them all for half price!
  5. Canadian Ladies still looking for suits... I was at Moore's yesterday and they just started an amazing promotion that runs til Aug 31st. Bring in any piece of mens wear to donate (an old tie, for example), and you get a coupon for 50% off your next purchase. The coupon is good for a month after you receive it. We have narrowed down our suit options to a couple of nice suits at Moore's - not linen, a nice, light weight suit. Regular price, its just over $400, but with this coupon, we will be able to buy 5 suits at just over $200 each! Amazing savings! And the nice thing about buying from Moores is that they are all over the country, so if you have groomsmen in different provinces they can get fitted and pick up their suits at home.
  6. Aloe on amazon! Good idea... It hasn't been easy to find around here. Just re-read my post about how much we are spending on each person and need to make a correction! We are spending about $15 not $50 per person! That would cost us a small fortune
  7. I have the white ones with the coloured strap, so I guess we have different ones! I will give it a shot and let you know!
  8. Shoot! I was going to do my iron-on transfers this weekend... I have 5 dozen of those bags and I can't send them back now. Maybe I will go the tag route instead. Are you going to buy all new bags now? Maybe it was the type of iron-on transfer paper? I know some other girls also bought those bags and I'm almost positive they used iron-on transfers. You can check out the thread on the bags and throw a question out there?
  9. @ Jena - OOT = Out Of Town bag. They are gift/welcome bags for guests. We are expecting 50ish people too so I'm trying to keep it around $50 per/person. So far we have the bags, sunglasses, and pashminas. I;m shopping around for everything else and I'm waiting til I get my RSVPs back before I order most things. We are going to include mugs, decks of cards, advil, immodium, tums, aloe, sewing kit, key card holder, lanyard, kleenex, gum... we'll see where we are in terms of price after that! If you are looking for ideas, check out the Canadian OOT where to buy thread. It's really great! What are you thinking of including?
  10. No cost for a photographer?! Great news! I was going to go with Juan Navaro and he has had some amazing reviews so I think that's a great choice! I ended up booking Sascha Gluck. I'm excited! I like his photojournalist style. It's unique! Congrats on getting all of the good news from Rocio! She's really on the ball this week. LOL. I just got an email back confirming my wedding time (4:00) and my reception venue (La Laguna). Woo! I haven't heard of weddings by oceans. Have you tried doing a search of all the threads? I;m sure someone on BDW has.
  11. Great thread! Canadian ladies... did any of you bring Canadian money for tipping? Or did you use pesos or USD? I imagine pesos are best...
  12. Hi! Congrats on getting your date and time! Have you booked your reception venue yet? I just sent Rocio an email to see if she can reserve La Laguna for us. I love the pool setting. Other than that, planning is going okay I think. I'm puttering around everyday doing something wedding related, even if its just research and getting ideas. I'm off for the summer so I;m lucky I have the time to do this Finalized deposit with our photographer (Sascha Gluck), bridesmaids dresses should be arriving shortly. I originally ordered the multi-way dresses from Victoria Secret, but one of my sisters is quite tall (5'10') and it was scandalously short, so I sent them ALL back, then found similar ones on Beyond the Rack. Have you heard of this website? It's incredible! I almost pulled the trigger on a pair of badgley mischka shoes (on sale for $99!), but I'm going to hold out for some cobalt blue shoes to match my BM dresses. My dress is in but I've decided not to go to for a fitting until the fall. If you are looking for dresses, seriously check out BTR. You need to sign up on their website, or send me a PM and I will send you the invitation. They have dresses for sale almost every day. You need to check often because they have limited stock and sales only last 1-3 days. Current projects: 1) getting my passport invites outs. They are at the printer and should be out by the end of the week. My mother and I are addressing all the envelopes tomorrow 2) finding suits for the guys. Where are you looking? 3) getting my OOT bags together. I've been shopping around, taking pics of things at different places so I can get the best prices. I'd like to have these organized before I go back to work in September 4) p90x! Started the program 3 weeks ago and I'm feeling great! Got 6 months to get a rockin beach body
  13. We are getting legally married in Mexico. Yes, you need to be in Mexico for 3 business days before getting married. I arrive on Saturday morning, but cannot get married until Thursday!
  14. There is an outlet nearby so I will check it out. I hope I;m not too late and they're sold out!
  15. Did you take pics of the tumblers by chance? I'd love to see what these look like! Mugs are my next project!
  16. Natalie, I am going to order from this seller on ebay. Totally reasonable prices and shipping. Just waiting to see how many I will need before buying! If youcheck out the seller's other items you can buy lanyards from them too. I'm sure you will be able to combine shipping! I was going to order from 8 seasons, but I couldn't find anything else to buy from them other than the holders and lanyards. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130489885394&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT if the link doesn't work, the seller is gcishoponline
  17. Thanks for compiling all of the files into one thread. Very handy!
  18. Good luck! Is it at Sinders?
  19. Great find! Are you putting them directly on people's plates or are you using them for seating arrangements when people first come in (include tag with similar poem and table number)? I'm debating between the two....
  20. I did the same thing! I didn't add cost on the STD; all that info is on our website. You can make a website really easily and for FREE. Try weddingwire.com.
  21. I narrowed down to the area we wanted to get married in, then looked at the resort itself, then compared prices for our guests. Having a TA definitely helps. We chose the Grand Palladium because: 1) It's in the Mayan 2) It's HUGE, which can be good and bad. A good point is that it has areas that are adult only and 5 star, and areas that are family friendly and 4.5 star. Guests are free to use all areas of the resort. 3) Price - It was fairly priced 4) Date of departure - We are quite restricted for time (Christmas break - want to arrive New Year's Eve), and the package fit our timeline 5) Bonus - unlimited a la cartes! 6) TA feedback - she has had lots of customers travel there and they've loved it. She even had one couple who had a wedding there, then honeymooned at the Barcelo or Gran Bahia (can't remember), and left that resort and went back to the GP! 7) Has a very nice gazebo I think you need to come up with the criteria that is most important to you. A downside to the GP is that the wedding package is fairly pricey, and you need to have a private reception if you have over a certain number of people. This was not a deciding factor for us, but I know it is for some.
