  4. What would a planning page be without a thank you to all the people I “borrowed†ideas from!! I definitely cannot credit every person who has helped me or who I have stolen ideas from, because of the amount of time I have spent on this forum for the past year! Thank you to everyone, you are all amazing people. The Proposal: We started dating in 2006. We knew right away it was something special and moved in together 3 months into our relationship. I had never lived with a guy before but it wasn’t much of a shock. I feel like it was perfect for us and definitely the right move. We wanted to spend our days together and be as close as possible. I couldn’t imagine not living with him. I’m surprised it took us 3 months! We started talking about getting married early. We hadn’t even been together that long. However, I kept waiting and waiting and waiting!! I knew it was going to happen and never got mad or worried that it wasn’t going to happen, but I was still wondering what was taking him so long! I had told him the type of ring I wanted as well as not to do it on a special occasion because it would be too “obvious.†HOWEVER, on every special occasion, I ALWAYS thought, maybe he WILL do it on a special occasion because I’m NOT expecting it!! Lol. Finally, my proposal came on our first trip to Cancun in 2009. He said he had the ring for almost a year and was just waiting for the perfect time!! It was amazing!! He had been carrying it around in the back of our car! I remember one time he left his tote bag sitting in the car rental shop in Cancun on that trip(like he does) and then FLIPPED out which is not like him. I didn’t understand why it was so important…he got it back. But I then later learned the ring was in there!! The first thing we did was pick a resort. We were back in Cancun for a friend’s wedding and had already decided to have a destination wedding. We both have small families and mine are from all over Canada and the US so they would have to travel anyway. Plus I LOVE the idea of a beach wedding. Also, when I started planning out a “regular†wedding it just didn’t feel like my own. We spend hours on the computer researching resorts (I didn’t know about BDW yet!). We finally decided on Barcelo Riviera Maya. It is AMAZING. It has 5 resorts in 1. It is the most beautiful resort I have ever seen. Since we were already in Cancun, we were able to convince the guards at the entrance to let us in for a tour. Gabriela met with us and popped us on a golf cart and showed us around!! Knowing how busy these WCs are, that was extremely amazing of her!! I’m glad I got to see my resort but I’m also glad I haven’t spent a great deal of time there (only about 20 mins) so it will all be a great new experience for us. We are big travellers. We have been to Cancun/Riviera Maya quite a bit, so that’s how we decided to have our wedding there. We were just comfortable with it. However, when thinking about a honeymoon, we decided we want to go somewhere we have never been before. So like the crazies we are, after a week at Barcelo we are flying off to the Dominican Republic to Punta Cana for our honeymoon! I am so excited to just lounge around and enjoy my soon to be husband!! Our resort is adults only which I’m also excited for!! The Dress!! It only took me one shopping trip to pick out my dress. I knew that although I’m having a DW, I didn’t want t compromise on the dress. I didn’t want anything huge and fancy but I didn’t want anything too simple. I found the perfect dress. To be honest though, I never felt that “moment†or teared up, but I’ve come to realize that I think it’s just who I am. I do know that I feel amazing in it (especially now that I’ve been working out!) and it is exactly what I wanted. I didn’t have the best dress choosing experience. I brought too many people with me and my FIs mom overwhelms me (she just has a LOT of energy and opinions and isn’t afraid to let them out). BM dresses: We apparently got our BM dresses a little late. When I was finally able to get together my BMs, the shop ladies were worried they wouldn’t arrive in time (who knew). I had to pay extra. I had to pay for everything too. It sure cost me a LOT and I’m not feeling that much appreciation, but whatever. I love how they turned out! Groom suit: Here is the suit that my FI is going to be wearing, but with a white shirt and a blue striped tie that matches the BM dresses. The groomsmen are going to just wear the pants, a white shirt, and a boutonniere. Vistaprint: One of the first things I actually did after starting the wedding planning process, and after we had picked the date, and after I joined BDW was start ordering free stuff from vistaprint. I think I went overboard!! I printed out: hats, pens, sticky notes, notebooks, menu cards, tags, pamphlets, information packages, keychains, tote bags, and a bunch of other things I can’t think of at the moment. I think I made about 25-30 orders through vistaprint over the last year!! But I have a tote bag for everyone with my wedding date and Riviera Maya printed on it. I made personalized ones for my BMs with their names and a nice uploaded picture. I became a little obsessed but I love what I got. I was able to make personalized touches to my wedding I wouldn’t have otherwise been able to. Favours: This was a hard one. I had a really hard time coming up with favours because I am cheap and we had already ordered so much for the OOT bags that I didn’t really know how much I should do for favours. I went to Michaels and decided on fans. I decided it wasn’t enough to just do the fans as they were, so I personalized them. I used a small stencil and got to work. I will tie them with ribbon and have them waiting on either the chairs at the ceremony or the tables at the reception. I haven’t decided this yet. Flowers: It took us a LONG time to come up with our wedding colors. In fact, the fans were painted with a color I originally chose for the wedding but changed my mind to what the BM dresses are now. We wanted an accent color and chose orange and a bit of pink, and these come out in the flowers. Ceremony site The ceremony will be on one end of the resort called the Coral beach. This beach is rocky and has palm trees so people tend not to spend time on this beach so it will be nice and private. We chose orange chair sashes because the blue they had was different than the blue I wanted. Hair and makeup: I don’t have a lot of hair so I am very worried about what my hair is going to look like. I do have clip in extensions but they can only do so much!! These are some ideas I have for my hair and makeup: Cake topper: BM jewellery: OOT Bags: I think that is it!! We have 4 days until we start driving down to the airport we fly out of!! I am getting so excited and am finally at the point where I feel like I have things under control and organized. I highly recommend making a packing list from the ones found on here for yourself if you start getting stressed because it will show you right in front of you what you need to do and bring with you. I have had dreams about forgetting things like the rings and the dress so having it on a list makes me feel a lot better! Thanks for everything ladies!!
  5. Ok!!!! I can honestly say I cannot believe how close we are!!!! We leave our house (we have to drive 8 hours to get where we are flying out of) in SEVEN days!! Wow. That doesnt' even make any sense to me!! I just started freaking out today, trying to schedule all my last minute things!! I'm a substitute teacher so I never know if I'm working each day, so I had to schedule everyhing for after 3!! I have an appointment every day this week!! So my to do list, seven days out, looks like this: -my last dress fitting is monday, I will pick up my dress Friday -pack -get hair flower and tiara -get groomsmen shoes -figure out bridesmaid personalized gifts for cheap -buy some more lingerie -get nails done -get rings cleaned -dye my hair -get our dog set up at his adventure camp (hes our baby) -finish putting toegther our welcome information -finish painting my favours (fans) -get more tops to wear -organize all the crap (like OOT bags) we are bringing -figure out what to do with our cat -finalize ipod music -make a backup cd just in case im sure theres more but can you believe i still have all that stuff a week out???? I am shocked that we are so close. Freaking out about getting stuff done for sure!!! What do you guys have to do (so i can remember other stuff i should do before we leave!!)
  6. Does anyone know if the wc provides things like flower petals for the decor or should I bring my own. Im having a hard time finding some and we are too close to buy online
  7. Does anyone know how to change the gap between songs on an iPod touch?
  8. I have to admit- I'm a few weeks into month 2 but things have been a little off track in a way lately. Not necessarily in my fitness but Insanity in general. I started playing soccer and got shin splints and starting running as well so I haven't been sticking as closely with insanity as I wanted-- but I wasn't perfect, I couldn't follow the month 2 videos 100% ... I probably still couldn't. Heck- the people on the video can't follow along for all the moves. I would say don't go back to month 1, I'd say stick with month 2 and do what you can. Never turn the video off partway but take more breaks if you want. The videos are specially designed with a lot of thought and research. If you aren't able to do all the moves the whole time its fine, but I think you should stick with it for sure. The point of this video is to push you BEYOND what is comfortable for you-- it is then that you will start seeing results, so if you go back and redo month 1 to prepare you for month 2, then you won't be pushing yourself as hard. That's just my opinion!!
  9. Aww thanks guys. I keep thinking, why the heck did I post pictures?? But I know why-- I am ALWAYS looking for inspiration through picture evidence so I thought I'd share mine. I had seriously become quite unmotivated when it seemed like I wasn't losing much because the measurements weren't showing. I look at the pics now though and realize my method of measuring was probably at fault-- I measured the smallest part of my waist which changed but everythign around it changed so much and I didnt take that into account. And I gained lots of muscle which discouraged me with the scale as well. However now that I can see a before and "after" pic (I say that because I'm still workng away at month 2) I can see that change happens that cannot necessarily be measured the way I measure. I only have 3 weeks until my wedding but I'm positive I can expand my results to become even more happy with my progress!! I just hope you all have the same motivation and stick with it because I have never seen results like this from myself. I challenge all of you to show pictures eventually as well because it is the best motivation I have ever had. I would definitely suggest to do a before and after shot.
  10. To get good email deals, but best advice I can give is sign up with another email and let it sit. I have 18 new messages in my one email inbox because I have ordered something but not much with that address. They are all amazing deals.
  11. Ok so I can't believe I'm doing this, but I thought maybe I'd put myself out there and try to motivate people for trying Insanity! I have before and after pics, but my after pics are only from the FIRST MONTH of Insanity. They are from a few weeks ago and I have since started Month 2!! Please ignore the sweat on the after pics. I took them after a workout. I was discouraged because sometimes my weight would fluctuate and my measurements wouldn't always say what I wanted, but when I saw the before and after pics, I have gotten my "second wind" in motivation. Remember, I have ALWAYS had an issue losing weight. And this is from not following the diet plan, just watching what I eat (and still drinking wine lol). I have since stopped drinking and begun being very picky with eating;
  12. Yup I've had strange dreams of me finding out that tomorrow is my wedding day and I thought I had more time and I forgot my dress so I have to run all over the mall looking for one but they don't sell dresses then my photographers don't show up... all the regular stuff However since I made a list to help me organize myself, the only dream I had was last night where I picked up my dress from the salon to take with us and they forgot to put it in a dark bag, they put it in a clear bag, so my FI saw it and I had to go buy a new one. Not so bad! NOt like the complete DISASTER ones I used to have!!
  13. Woohoo one month today!! We leave in 26 days!! I am definitely feeling more organized now than I have throughout this whole process finally! We finally figured out the groomsmen clothes yesterday (it was a huge hassle), got bm jewellry, a cake topper, guestbook, and bm shoes. I also made a packing list for us and that made me feel much better too!!
  14. Certain color chair sashes are available and are included in your package. If they don't have the color you want, you can bring your own and they will set it up for you for no extra cost.
  15. Ok so somehow I quoted the post twice but didnt post the infomation I wrote...weird. What I said was, Southernsweetie, we are date twins!! I also said that we decided to have our ceremony at 2pm and our reception at 630pm. We will have as much time as we need for pictures, and when the sun sets, we can always walk from the reception to the beach to take a few pics. The most important thing for us is pics, so we wanted to leave lots of time to take them.
  16. Quote:Originally Posted by bondgirl0072010 Hey SouthernSweetie! Â I would definitely check with your photographer about the lighting. They're the experts and our photographers when we got married last June (Del Sol) actually sent us some paperwork about times they suggested for every single month for the best lighting! Â Â
  17. Am I going to forget something really important? Am I going to focus on pleasing everyone else and not enjoy myself?
  18. I am absolutely LOVING month 2. The workouts are longer and harder but they do it in a way that really works and doesn't kill you. One of them doesn't even repeat any moves throughout the workout so you don't think to yourself, man, I still have 2 more times of this!! I'm only a week in to month 2 so we are pretty close!
  19. I think it's a good idea- we are doing a similar thing- taking our wedding party on a tour of ruins and cenotes. We are also paying for their spouses to come too otherwise they probably wouldn't have wanted to come!! I couldn't think of anything to buy them, though I think I shoudl think of something small to give to them. I also paid for their bridesmaid dresses
  20. Haha don't worry, that's not how I took it!! It sure is annoying how men's metabolism seems to work so much faster hey?? I just came on here to say that I just (like 5 minutes ago) finished my FIRST month TWO workout (max interval circuit). It is totally and incredibly insane but I LOVED it!! It is soo much longer and harder than the first month, but they have it set up so that you can totally do it! They include different types of exercises so you aren't completely dead by the end of the circuit. If you can get through a month one workout, by month two you will be able to do that as well!! However, now that I know how hard the second month workout is, I'm worried about over doing it with still adding running into my workout. I love to run and push myself as well, but I only have one month to my wedding so I don't want to get off track of Insanity. Has anyone had any experience with doing month 2 and still going to the gym? Shoudl I eat more calories or something?
  21. You can only have one type of free item per order. If you added a free t or bag it shouldn't go up too much. The bigger or heavier the item, the more theyll charge. I could usually get sticky notes, a pen, a bag, and one other thing without raising it
  22. Thanks! It is true that with the nature of a destination wedding, the view itself can be all you need to make for a beautiful wedding, so if I forgot all my DIY stuff at home and forgot to do something that I haven't even thought of, everything will come together. The food is taken care of, I'd never forget my dress or the groom and his suit...so it will be great!!
