Hey Ladies - Is anyone planning a group excursion? Where to? And are you planning to pay a % for your guests? I am thinking about doing a group excursion to Xel-ha / (and / or Tulum). I want to do this two days after our wedding but I have mixed fillings since one of my MOH's (yep, I have 2!) is leaving the day after our wedding. Any suggestions?

Hey Ladies - I am a Royal PDC bride, but I am hoping that my message is helpful for you March and April 2011 brides as well since the Gran Porto is our sister resort. See below: The Gran Porto and the Royal are SELLING OUT!!!! My TA called me today and let me know that she is unable to book any more standard rooms for the Gran Porto or the Royal. All that is left for the weekend of my wedding (April 1st) are the $700+ a night rooms (yowsa!) For my guests that didn't book, they are now scrounging around. Please let your guests know that April is a very popular time to visit the resorts and you don't want them to miss out. I must add, I don't know if the selling out thing is exclusive to my TA. I am assuming that she wouldn't book anyone else for the Royal because she didn't want to risk them being "bumped" to another resort so check with your TA's. I am a little disappointed with my TA becasue I feel like she should have warned us that the Royal and the Gran Porto were reaching max capacity.

Lisa - You too were a beautiful bride!! How was the cake? Also, did you do the cake cutting and then the Royal sliced it up? Or did they leave the cake out? I am a wedding rookie so I am not sure what proper etiquette is. I am trying to figure out if it makes sense to upgrade to a larger cake for such a small party that I will be having. My motivation is mainly for pictures. Any suggestions?

Weird If I Walk Myself Down the Aisle?
diahr replied to rosieposie's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Hey Ladies & Rosie (My fellow Royal PDC bride) My father and I are not close at all so there is no way that he is walking me down the aisle. I don't care what anyone thinks, I am not going to play "make believe" on my wedding day. I want it to be genuine and beautiful. I was either going to walk myself down the aisle or I got an idea from a magazine about my FI meeting me half way. He thinks its too mushy (and a little corny) but the bridal magazine suggested that it would be romantic and sweet for your groom to see you walking down the aisle and come to meet you half way.. Picture it ladies - you are a vision on your day, everyone is looking at you. Your FI sees you walking and he comes to get you to walk you the rest of the way to the alter. Maybe he even gives you a hug in the middle the aisle (no kisses). Yup, I am a wack job romantic. (ok so maybe this is not genuine b/c its planned, but it seems beautiful enough!!) -

Does anyone know how the legal courtroom wedding process works in NJ? NJ does not have JPs. Thanks! -

Ok Ladies...I need to give you an update / vent on the wedding drama that started on Thanksgiving (below is refresher for the noobies). I haven't spoke to my soon to be in laws since the day that they backed out (over 31 days and counting). No..this was not intentional, but I have had no reason speak to them and I stopped making them a top priority in my life since clearly, the wedding of their son and I is not a top priority in their life. I am super busy anyway. I work long hours, I volunteer just about every Saturday, I work out and I have a wedding to plan, so I haven't had the time/energy/desire to go out of my way to see/talk to them. I have in no way hindered my FI's relationship with his father. He has been to see them since this fiasco numerous times and has spoken to his father on the phone...so you'll understand my shock when his father calls him and says "why are you alienating me?" Seriously, WTF... (I didn't know a guilty conscious could make you so dramatic) My FI had a 30 min long conversation with his father about why I was pissed (and justifiably so) and that he was not alienating his father. Long story short..My FIL's wife sends me a text message that we need to sit down and talk... I can't imagine what these people have to say to me. I'm shocked that they have time to talk to me in between getting ready for the move that's 6 mos away or estimating the cost of jeep shocks or the trailor...I am really so done with this, however my FI told me to be a good sport and hear them out so guess how I am spending my Friday night?! WooHoo!! Give you ladies an update soon. (I guarantee they haven't even checked the prices for a 2 night stay)

Any 2011 Brides out there?
diahr replied to Nicyx's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I know..But I am happy to advise that my aunt & uncle booked yesterday so now the count is up to 12!!!! Yaaay!!!! On a separate note..Bonnie remember the situation with my soon to be inlaws over them not coming because of the shocks & struts on their car, the move to TX, yada yada yada? Well, I haven't spoken to them since Thanksgiving, and now I have been summoned to a meeting at their house tonight! Seriously, I have no idea what they have to say to me that can't be done over the phone.. I am so over this! I have gotten used to the idea that they are not coming so I am done with the matter... ugh! I am heading the PDC thread to give the girls an update. I am going to need some serious prayer for tonight. -

Congrats January brides!!! Try not to stress too much. -
Hi Speedy, I am actually in the process of booking Norma now. Fernando was out of my budget. It seems like his cost vary based on how many people you have in your party. This morning he quoted me $120 for the trial, $200 for the wedding makeup, and $100 for each of my bridesmaids (I have only 2). These prices do not include hair, just makeup. Norma quoted me $120 for wedding makeup and $60 for each bridesmaid. Again, hair is not included. I told her I would go to a MAC counter in NJ for my trial and she said that was fine. Norma just said to take a picture of what the MAC counter does. The counter will write down the items and colors for you anyway. I think they also draw some kind of picture as well. My girls are finding out now how much we have to spend to get our makeup done there. I am going to book Norma asap. She doesn't require a depost, so I am just waiting for an agreement of some sort. Fyi..A few other brides got away without spendng the vendor fee for makeup artists. Also, Lady Di used Norma and while her makeup looked great, Norma ran behind. Thus I told her my wedding started an hour earlier than it actually does (hope she's ot on the forum lol!). Quote: Originally Posted by speedy130 I originally wasn't going to pay to get my make-up done, but I am beginning to change my mind. I am thinking about the MAC counter idea. If I go here (the US) first to get an idea of the right products, and then go down there...how much would that cost? How much is Norma from Cancun, or Fernando? We decided to go for the DJ so I need to budget in other areas now! Thanks Ladies!! Raveyn, you look amazing and so happy

Hey Kelly, Try not to worry. I didn't know there was a Sam's club in Mexico. What time is your wedding? That might be a lot of travel for you on the day of your wedding unless the wedding is late. Have you tried reaching out to Marvin from Mayan Diseno Floral? He's an outside vendor and his prices are way cheaper than the Royal's. A lot of girls on here have used him. Also, you can have someone meet him in the lobby of the Royal to pick up the flowers and avoid the vendor fee. The only catch is that you have to pay him in cash. PM me and I will send you his contact info or you may be able to find it by doing a search for "Marvin" in this thread. DJ - A lot people use DOREMIXX. He is also a Royal vendor you don't have to pay the vendor fee. That's like $800 and out of my budget, so I think we will be using an Ipod. The Royal will provide the sound system but you have to pay someone there to operate it. I think that cost is $80. Decorations - The royal does provide chair sashes for rentals in a variety of colors but they're expensive at $3 USD each. I bought 50 for half of that from Raza linens (I got them on sale). PM me if you need the sash colors that the Royal provides. Are you doing an aisle runner? The Royal provides one in red and burlap I think. I am doing just rose petals (got those from Marvin to at $10/bag. Also - if you go to the Royal weddings website, you can click on downloads under Packages & Services and it will show you an itemized list of what's available. Are you on basecamp? That's the site where I email my WC - Andrea. She's very responsive. WeddingChannel.com has some great checklists for you to look at so you know what's missing and what questions you should be asking. Ask as many questios as you need to here. Everyone is very helpful!
