  1. Yes, I will absolutely write a review when I return! Good luck in your decision making process!
  2. Not that you need any more chaos to your decision-making process, but if you are interested in Negril, I have been nothing but amazed with Moon Dance Cliffs. There is only one wedding per weekend, so you get 100% of the attention of the entire hotel staff... we went for a site visit last March, and the food and drink were unreal and it is just absolutely beautiful there. The wedding coordinator Kerry is amazing. I have so happy I chose them, and they get great reviews from past brides. Anyway, just another hotel to throw on your spread sheet if you have time. Congratulations!
  3. I am from the US, but I can tell you that in the US, notarized/certified is the same thing. Or so I have always understood. I hope you get an answer soon from a fellow Canadian!
  4. oh, i never thought about packing a wet dress... I am doing my TTD the day before we leave as well. Hmm.... but I am definitely doing it. I think so far it is the thing I am most excited for! People here think I am crazy, but all the pictures look so cool it is worth ruining my cheap $250 dress!
  5. Oops, I just figured out why I couldnt open the attachment, and apparently it is not allowed to ask for emails, so DMOB my apologies for making the request. Looks like I need to post more to get attachment access!
  6. I could not open the attachment, any way you could email it to me? Thanks in advance!
  7. Lisa- Your wedding is just right around the corner! Good luck getting through these last few weeks, and we will all be anxiously awaiting YOUR beautiful pictures and reviews!
  8. I think it depends on where you are booking, and how close to the holidays you are going to be. I know in Negril, everything is fairly easy to book close in time, EXCEPT the photographer... they book up quickly. And I know a lot of resorts that handle weddings on a regular basis have a lot of vendors on site/regularly work with, so I guess as long as you pick out a date that the resort has available, you will be fine...... But the issue with a December wedding and booking late, in my opinion, is how it affects your guests. They need time to ask off work, make travel arrangements, etc., which is further complicated in December because of the holidays. So long as you don't mind that some people may not be able to make a wedding with little notice, I think you can book as late as you can find resorts with openings. Good luck!
  9. Beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing!
  10. Dee, so glad you were able to switch to a new specialist. For those brides on here still stuck with a bad one, I highly recommend Camille Hutchison. She has been a rockstar so far and I am so happy with her.
  11. I want simple too... I already told Kerry I didnt want any gazebo decorations because it just looked so beautiful as is.... and to be honest I thought cutting costs there would be less noticeable... We booked with Floral Fantasies as well; they were super great when I met with them. I told them simple and modern, and I loved the orchid arrangement they came up with for the reception. We are doing mento band for rehearsal dinner, steel band for ceremony/cocktail hour, and Sound Illusion DJ for reception. What did you choose for entertainment, and were you happy? Kerry told me to pick my songs for the ceremony, and I am struggling to decide with what typical "wedding" music will sound good on a steel pan, or whether I just do something totally non-traditional with the music selections. I wish there was a playlist for them. Has anyone seen such a list?
  12. Thanks Amy! I saw your post on MDC's facebook page I believe.... are any of the photos on their FB page from your wedding? I love inspiration!
  13. Amy, Thanks for the post! I am so happy to see yet another happy bride post their review! I am so excited for my December wedding and have no doubt Kerry will plan details that I had not even thought about yet. She was more on top of things at my site visit than I was. Post pics when you can Amy!
  14. THANK YOU ROBIN! I just knew it was going to be amazing... they treated us like royalty on our site visit, so I knew it had to be better than royalty the actual day of the wedding. I cannot imagine getting married anywhere else. Thank you for confirming that for us all again!
  15. I am doing a resort takeover, and I was there for a site visit, and they never mentioned the tent. I booked last Aug/Sept, so maybe that is the reason, but it is definitely possible to not have the tent. Like I said, the tent has never even been mentioned to me and I am going to have 50-66 people there. I am getting married in December, and here are the time frames I was given (she did mention it gets darker earlier in December, so if you are having a spring/summer wedding, I imagine you can have your times later): Ceremony 4:30; cocktail hour until 6 pm; move to reception dinner area at 6 pm through 11 pm. As for other activities, she told me it was up to me when I wanted to have the welcome dinner and rehearsal dinner. For spa services the day of the ceremony, she suggested doing a lunchtime event-- where the bride and bridesmaids are all in the villa, and they cater in lunch for us and the stylist comes to the villa and do our hair/make up there. If you wanted more elebaroate spa treatments, I am not sure how much more time you would need. If I recall correctly from my site visit, there are 2 treatment rooms. The massages we got were INCREDIBLE, but I guess you need to account for the fact that there are only 2 treatment rooms when you are thinking about your timeframe and how many people you want to accommodate. Also, I have been told that there is only one person who does hair/makeup, so keep that in mind as well when you budget time for the day of the ceremony. For the day after the ceremony, she suggested a farewell brunch starting at 9 AM. I said that was too early for the hangovers I imagine my guests will have. So we are probably doing something around 10ish. Overall, Kerry pretty much told us they would accommodate us however we wanted. Do not take her lack of communication as lack of care. When we got to our site visit, I was surprised that she already had so much done for us without me having to ask about it (i.e., she had looked at welcome bag ideas like playing cards, rum bottles, etc. and offerred to run and get them herself to save us a trip, etc.). I know it is frustrating, but having been there and seen how organized Kerry is, I can tell you that you do not have anything to be worried about. It is just Jamaician culture I think. But I understand how frustrated you must be. Hopefully the timeline I was given at my site visit helps you somewhat!
  16. My "miracle" booking was I just told people we only had a certain number of rooms available (which is true, we are getting married at a very small resort that only has 33 rooms), and if they wanted to guarantee a room, they needed to book ASAP. I think my panicked emails about how everything was going to book up so quickly scared everyone. So now I just have 7 more rooms to book, which I hope I can do over the next few months!
  17. Has anyone used her for video? I booked Sungold for my photographer, but debating about getting a videographer as well.
  18. I also did a site visit, and had no issues with transfers between MDC and MDV... it was about 10 minutes.
  19. Irie-- Moon Dance is incredible! I did a site visit there, and I cannot imagine a better place for your honeymoon. We are doing a resort takeover, but most of our guests are checking out on the 11th, so there should be plenty of room for you to head over for your honeymoon.
  20. Robin I cannot wait to hear about your wedding! On pins and needles!
  21. I booked in September of last year. I agree, paying for the shuttle is no good when you are doing AI. That is kind of ridiculous.
