  1. I still can't believe you have 300+ guests invited and will possibly have 150 there! Yeah high ceilings are nice. When I asked Deco Cancun for the quote for the draping for the Star Ballroom, it was crazy. Do you know what kind of chairs you're doing? I asked about chairs and it was $7/piece! That's too much. I am thinking of bringing my own sashes and table cloths since I doubt they will have hot pink. Since we have the same colors maybe we can coordinate part of the order since I don't have nearly as many guests as you. Also did you miami coordinator tell you that the Star Ballroom is really far from the chapel? She was like your chapel is on the Nizuic side and the chapel is on the sunrise side . . .Not sure if she was trying to warn me or sway me from the Star Ballroom. I am also thinking of just doing cocktail hour in the chapel gardens so my guests can just go right to the cocktail from the ceremony. I really hope I get the unlimited events b/c my budget is banking on it!
  2. So for the photographer, I have no idea what to do. I think I am just going to just use the resort photographer. I heard mixed reviews as well but I can't afford too much. I really only want to spend only $3K or less and I doubt I'll find anyone that cheap outside the resort. I guess I better do some more research . . . Yeah, I think we read the same review for the flowers. I think she used cancun florists. One tip my cousin told me was to singe the bottom of the roses to seal the moisture in so they don't wilt. She said they used a curling iron. Don't take my word for it but she did the flowers for her best friend's wedding and said it really worked and she got married in July heat.
  3. OMG, you are so lucky JennW818 for winning the wedding dress and the BM dresses! I just bought my girls their dresses from Jcrew. I was really lucky b/c they were on sale for $50 and were the perfect color. I decided to pay for them since they were spending so much to come to the wedding. I have 8 girls so sometimes I wish I had 3 or 4 but I love them all so I had to have 8. I got the girls the silk tricotine dress in sophia and allegra in the color deep rose which actually is coral like. I should be getting them this week. Wish me luck they look good!
  4. JennW818, I asked my miami coordinator about the reception time and she said as long as you're in a ballroom there is no set amount of time for the reception. I hope she understood my question though, lol. I actually asked for the Star Ballroom but since my wedding will be about 100 guests or less, they suggested the Carey Ballroom. I was like fine, whatever b/c the pic they sent me looked the same as the other ballrooms. Plus I don't want to mich open space in the room, I want that intimate feel. As for my previous post about flowers, I know I am crazy but I am still thinking of making the bouquets myself. I watched the youtube video and it looked pretty easy. I am just worried about getting the flowers onsite. Between my mom and some of my bms, we should be able to get the flowers done. I know sometimes my time is worth more than money spent but I rather take that $120 and give my girls a really nice present. I am going to do the freeze dried petals for the walkway though. I am not really interested in the real touch flowers since I don't know what they are like and don't want to lug them with me!
  5. Hey Ladies, So I had just booked my wedding at the Moon Palace for May 29th and asked to hold 30 rooms. I was required to put a deposit down of $3000, so $100/room. Anyways, it wasn't that big of a deal because I was able reserve my room under that deposit and in February when my room block expires, I'll get a refund for any deposit not spent. CynLovesLuis, I think we talked and because your family are Palace members you were able to get around the deposit for your room block. Pretty cruddy they are trying to change rules now. So about outside vendors. I plan on using Zuniga for centerpieces and draping in the ballroom. But for BM flowers, there is no way I am paying $120/bouquet esp since I have 8 bms. My aunt used to be a florist and a friend of mine does flowers too so we'll probabaly do them ourselves. I am planning on ordering the flowers and have them delivered the day before to the resort. Do you think there will be an issue? I heard brides do it in the past . . .If anyone has any tips to say or do, let me know b/c i am a horrible liar! haha
  6. How much is Deco Cancun quoting you? Depending on my exact number of guests for centerpieces, I might just do tealights and then ask my BMs to put their flowers in vases on the tables to get 2 uses out of the flowers! I want to use an outside vendor too but I heard it's prohibited and even if you lets say get them a day pass, they might have a hard time getting into the resort with the flowers.
  7. I finally got my contract sent and I am getting married May 29th! I did ask for Kalena as my WC and they got her but when I asked Miami to give me her email address, they wouldn't give it to me since they said she will contact me 3 months before my wedding. I am nervous b/c I want an indoor reception . . . . I wonder if I should bug them more?!?!?! What's everyone doing about flowers? I have 8 BMs and that can get really expensive for flowers . . .
  8. Hey Ladies, I just submitted my wedding request for Sunday, May 29th at the Moon Palace! I hope to get confirmation soon. Is anyone else getting married that day? Also, how do they determine your deposit amount?
  9. Thanks Alison! I sent the group booking an email yesterday. Hopefully I will hear from them soon. I started looking at airfare too and it wasn't that bad, I hope prices don't go up:-/
  10. Thanks for posting the rates ladies. I actually was playing around with dates on Expedia and for 7 days and 6 nights including airfare and tax it came to $1183 for the 2nd to last week in May. However the rates you guys posted + airfare would be much more. If my guests book through Expedia, does it still count towards the group perks? Â I am from Washington DC, can anyone recommend a travel agent? Thanks! Happy Planning everyone!
  11. Does anyone mind posting the group rate information? I am torn between booking through the resort or going through a travel agent for everything. I am not even sure how many rooms to block! My guest list keeps growing and I know not everyone is going to go but a large majority will. Is having 50+ ppl too big for a destination wedding? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!
  12. Â Hi May 28th, My fi and I are still discussing dates but we're thinking of the same week as you. So is it really that busy on the 28th and why are they only planning with you 30 days out? That woudl totally stress me out too. Was it easy to book your date and block rooms? What TA are you using? I am thinking of using Destinationweddings.com to book everything. Â
  13. Hey ladies, I am a lurker right now and haven't booked my wedding yet but I am totally in love with the MP already. I am looking to book for the end of May 2011. If someone has a rate sheet or some tips, can you send me a personal message or post on here! Good luck to all you ladies! Also I saw the $1500 promotion, I wonder how long it will last, need to get FH on the ball so we don't miss out on a good deal. Also any good TA recs? My friends had some horror stories with Destinationweddings.com so I am nervous but I don't know if I want to book directly with the hotel yet.
  14. Veronica! Your wedding was amazing! You totally got me hooked and I want to have my wedding at the MP too! I hope you don't mind but I am sending you a personal email to ask some questions! Congrats!
