  1. Hey ladies! I'm going to be a doing a boudoir shoot with a really great photographer in Winnipeg sometime late Feb. She has really affordable pricing and offers the rental of some really neat downtown spaces and it gets cheaper if you go in with someone else. SO, if any of you are interested in doing a shoot give me a shout! I can send you a link to her site and we can work something out and save some money :
  2. futurejohnson - I checked out the website. Their work is beautiful!
  3. Well everyone's different... For example, I'd never spend upwards of $1000 on a dress I was wearing for one day (mine was just over $500)... for me, the pictures last a lifetime and are a lot more important. I'm also a graphic designer and an amateur photographer on the side so it's something that's really worth the money to me, perhaps not to some. Everyone has to find a thing or two that they want to splurge on for their wedding and be price cautious about the rest, that's my thinking at least. I know a few other ladies on the forum had really good luck with bringing someone along with them who was just starting out and wanted to get a good head start on their portfolio... it's worth asking around good luck.
  4. We're getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe in Runaway Bay... then we're moving to Sandals Ochos Rios for our honeymoon (complete with honeymoon suite) SOOO excited!
  5. Keriltz - Photography is the one thing I'm splurging on so the hotel photog wouldn't do... I'm getting Sungold Associates to do the photography for me. 8 hours with 2 shooters + a TTD the next day for $2500. But the best part is I get a DVD of all the edited print quality photos... so I won't have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for prints, I can just do it myself They had a lot of cheaper options too if you only wanted a few hours of coverage and Paula from Sungold is amazing. She gets back to you so quickly and is so personable.
  6. I'm a graphic designer. I work for a great company doing a lot of corporate branding & logo design... I also do some freelance design from home in my spare time doing wedding invitations ( comes in handy for us with the wedding)
  7. Marlena, Wow! That's a big group! We're less than 20... but it'll be perfect. Just close family and close friends. Neither of us are close with our extended families, save our grandparents, so no aunts and uncles or cousins, just parents, 3 grandparents, siblings & close friends. Good luck with the planning! I originally wanted 10/10/10 but the proposal took a little longer than expected, haha! SO after that our plan was May 2nd, then got pushed to April 28 because the flights were cheaper.
  8. Hey Marlena! Okay, I'll do my best to help you out here. 1) Yes, those are the only two restaurants. If you look at previous posts there are pictures. It sucks that you have to wait until closer to the day to book one, but what can you do. There is the option of renting out one of the restaurants JUST for your group and having your reception there (but it costs $2500) 2) I'm pretty sure you can get married on the beach if you so choose... but most people choose the gazebo because it's really private and one of the biggest appeals of the resort. 3) WELL. In the beginning I was told that they don't do a lot of weddings and that was a big reason for me booking there... little do I know... they do 2 a day at times but I think they try their best to stick 1 a day... either way, if you read earlier posts you see the drama I had with my date getting double booked. She offered me the 1:00 time (if there are 2 weddings in a day they'll be one at 1:00 and the other at 4:00), and I declined so we did some back and forth and she pulled some strings and we're getting married at sunset (6:00ish). From what I've heard from every bride here that's gotten married there is that they never felt like they or their day wasn't important and that the Beverly and her assistant were super attentive in making it special (that's what matters to me )
  9. I think it's possible... I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
  10. Ellabaja - She's doing pretty awful.... It sucks because he's a good friend of mine too, an old co-worker. They were great together and I really didn't see this coming. Now I don't know who she'll be sharing a room with, we may have to do a lot of switching around. I'm also really worried because we were at a bare minnimum with our travel agent to book... now we're under :S
  11. Wow, I can't believe so many of you ladies have SO many guests! I was hoping for around 25-30 but as of right now we are at us + 15 guests... we WERE at 17, but 2 people have since dropped out... the first was a close friend of mine who I actually paid the $200 deposit for and was going to pay him an additional $500 to do all of the videography for us... well, he dropped out and isn't paying me back. Great. The other is my sisters BF of over a year who just dumped her and will no longer be coming... at least he paid his own deposit.
  12. My sisters bf of over a year broke up with her yesterday... there's our second person to pay their deposit then bail on us. Great....
  13. Also, my Mom is wearing a gorgeous strapless beige/light gold dress from Le Chateau. I want her to look snazzy Oh, and in "wonderful" news... my little sisters boyfriend of over a year just broke up with her and now is not coming. So that makes 2 people who have paid their $200 deposit and then bailed. Great. I really don't want to tell my travel agent.
  14. Hey Ladies, just thought I'd share my latest from Beverly, Hello there Beverly, I sent this email to you a month ago and you replied saying you'd get back to me the next morning. I still haven't heard from you so I thought I'd resend it in case it was misplaced. I really want to get started soon on making our programs & menu's.The Wedding Ceremony Musical Prelude Seating of the Guests Entrance of the Groom Procession of the Bridal Party Procession of the Bride Giving away of the Bride Words of Greeting by the Minister Opening Prayer Ephesians 5 vs 22-33 Exchange of Wedding Vows Blessing of the rings Exchange of Rings Signing of Marriage Certificate Presentation of Husband and Wife Recessional Champangne reception I wondering if you have a general time line of our wedding day so I can get a head start? We are reserved for Thursday, April 28th @ Sunset (6:00pm). What is the order of the ceremony so I have details for the program. Also, you had mentioned that the first dance, bouquet toss & garter throw took place @ the champagne toast after the ceremony, yes? That is correct. We would like to have the steel drum band for our ceremony. Also in regards to the rehearsal. I've spoken to other girls who've gotten married there and they said it was generally the day before? Would we be able to book a time now so I can include it in the invitations that I send out to our guests? We can schedule your rehearsal on April 27, 2011 at 5:30p.m. We are bringing our own photographer, as confirmed in an earlier conversation, and are going to do most of our pictures before and do a few sunset shots & family shots after the ceremony. So for dinner we're thinking would be 8:00ish? What do you suggest?I would commence dinner at 7:30p.m. Also what are the choices for dinner so we can make some descions and start on the menu. Menu selections will be made closer to the wedding as the menu may be subject to changes. Finally, what are our restaurant options for the dinner?Your restaurant options will be either the Grill Steak house or the Dolce Vita Italian. However please be advised that the decisions of the restaurant is made by our F & B team, as a schedule is sent out on a monthly basis. We can request a restaurant, but will not be able to confirm until closer to the wedding. Also I had requested information about renting the gazebo after but you had mentioned that the other couple had booked it. You had mentioned the disco as another option? We were still waiting on images of the disco. If we were to rent that would we do the first dance, garter & bouquet toss at that time instead? I have the pictures but the images are very large and are not going through. I was trying to acquire a simpler version. If you rent the disco for the night you are able to do the above requested at the disco. Thank-you so much for the information!
  15. Sorry, I was opening it with another program and they weren't coming through.. I'd like the 28 turquoise wrapped fans, but it depends on shipping. Would you be able to let me know how much shipping would be to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada? If it's reasonable I'll totally take them all off of your hands.
  16. Would you happen to have a picture of the raffia fans with the turquoise ribbon?
  17. Hey Winnipeg ladies, Any of you doing a boudoir shoot? I mentioned it to my FI and he LOVES the idea... the only issue is I can't seem to find a photographer. I checked out Coco Boudoir and their work is amazing, but their pricing is, well, way out of my budget for this. It's $200 for the session that you end up with 20 pictures... but that doesn't include print or the digital files. I wanted to do my own photo album with them, so I checked what it would cost for the 20 digital files and they'd charge $1000!! Help.
  18. Hey, just a question to throw out there. Anyone actually getting emails from Beverly lately? The last email I got from her was over a month ago and I've sent her two since then...
  19. Kai said the exact same thing! I came home from work and he's already wearing it, haha! He asked if he could just wear it "sometimes". Haha. He said from the beginning that he wanted a black band... I'm not arguing, it was cheap! haha.
  20. These are so cute Brandy! I love the saying. Adorable!
  21. Lua, I love the rings together! We just got FI's ring in the mail today! YAY! I was sooo lucky that exactly what he wanted we found for $99. No lies. Fits him perfectly and he loves it. http://www.titaniumkay.com/Black-Titanium-Band-with-Grey-Titanium-Edge-P103657.html Now for my ring... we've found 1 we like but I don't really want to spend more than $300 on it... I know, I know, but we are planning on buying a house in the new year and spending more than that one a ring seems like a bad idea to me.
  22. Hey ladies, I got crafty this weekend and made myself my flower/hair piece. I was going to buy one off of etsy but they were all charging upwards of $50 for something I knew I could do myself... I love how it turned out so much that I ended up making 6 more (that I'll probably end up selling on my etsy I have for my wedding invites). I'm planning on wearing it very low on the base of the back of my head behind my ear and having all my hair off to the other side. Yay!!
  23. Brandy - LOVE them both but I'm leaning towards the 2nd one... it's so beachy & romantic but at the same time super elegant! FI & I have lived together for 5 years or so now so we do have *most* things, but a lot of it is still hand me downs from our parents & family... we slowly buy new stuff but the registry will be nice so we can upgrade a lot of the hand me down items... like the mixer we got from my mom that was her and my dads wedding gift (and evidently just stopped working, haha). Plus we registered for a few silly things that we'd love but don't expect (like a romba vaccum cleaner!!). Plus... it's fun running around the store with the gun "window shopping" haha.
  24. The reason you ladies can't open it is you're still "NOOB" to the site. You have to be a least a Junior Member to open documents (have made 150 posts or more). I wonder if she'd be nice enough to email it to you if you PM'd her your email address
  25. The BM things sucks... same thing happened to me... before it happened we were uneven though. 2 guys and 3 girls. FI wanted to ask his 2 brothers to be GM aswell, but with only 20 people at the wedding it seemed silly having such a big wedding party, and him and his brothers aren't really that close. In the end we're down to 2 and 2, but 3rd BM still "may" find a way to come and in that case we'd be uneven. Really, I don't think an uneven bridal party is that big of deal. Someone is sure to have a husband, boyfriend, girlfriend or wife to dance with if need be Good luck
