  1. Ladies! We are so close. We are almost done with our wedding preparation... Now we need to finish our music list and start printing all the documents to make sure there is no issue when we get to Mexico. Â Congrats to all and can't wait till we can share our experience once we are back!!! Â Chong

    October Bride

Hi... I am getting married on October 10, 2010 at Azul Sensatori. I got 14 days till the wedding and 9 days till we leave for Mexico. Few more things to do and we will be ready for our wedding!!! How exciting Chong
  3. Thanks! We got 14 days till the wedding and 9 days till we leave to Mexico!!! Yeah...my FI is from Baltimore. He is ready for his party I already had mine at Philadelphia. Â I sent you both free sweet wedding package and Erik Rodriguez pricing information. Let me know if you have any questions! Â
  4. I am almost ready with our play list. For the music, we've rented "Amplifier for private events IPOD & Microphone connections. (No CD). 4 hours." for $250. Thanks! I really wanted to be less than 1 min. I am playing "dream a little dream" as I am walking down the aisle and wanted to fade out the song before Louis Armstrong starts to sing. Â Did you say hostesses lay the pedals for you? We don't have a flower girl and I didn't want anyone to step on the pedals except for me... What to mean by hostesses? Can you elaborate on that little bit more? Â I have 4 playlists - 1) first dance & father/daugther - mother/son dance music 2) cocktail music 3) dinner music 4) dance music. Even though we are not having an official cocktail hour, we decided to open the bar for 30 mins after the ceremony (as a part of the private dinner package) for us to take some pictures and then we will enter the reception area to do our first dance and with the parents. We have about 30 min for cocktail hr, 1 hr for dinner and 2 hrs for dance. I need another 30 mins... just to fill 4 hr window for the reception. It wasn't too easy to find wedding appropriate and CLEAN music. I highly recommend everyone to start little early... Thanks for the info! Â I think the best way is to find a TA. As long as you are sure about having a destination wedding, you should have one who does all the work for you. If you don't have one, I recommend my TA (who is also a GI consultant) Gayle Hirsch from destinationweddings.com. If you need more information, let me know. Good luck! Â
  5. For those you got married on the beach... how long does it take to walk down the "aisle". I have a song that's too long but just wanted to know when where it would get cut off. Does it take about a minute to walk? Any thoughts?
  6. I just have to say...my TA is the best. I just got my travel package yesterday in the mail. She sent me a JUST MARRIED flip flop and GI Promotional Gift Certificates - Private Dinner on the Beach and Spa package for both us. She is so thoughtful!!! She's been the best TA to work with. Her name is Gayle Hirsch with Destination Weddings. I highly recommend her if you are looking for a TA!
  7. Amanda! Yes, it is so close. I am definitely stress out. I've been soooo busy at work I have not had the time to really work on wedding stuff. I am actually traveling for work on Monday and not returning till Thursday night. I have a final dress fitting on Thursday night and my FI leave to Baltimore for his bachelor party. We have 2-1/2 cases filed with just wedding stuff. My parents are bringing reception decorations for us so that saved us some suite cases. Â I need to schedule a meeting with an onsite WC. We have the free sweet wedding package. I think I read somewhere that you have the same package. I also got the GI promotion through my TA like you did but decided to spend on the spa package rather than the private cocktail. I was planning to pay for hair/make up anyway so it worked out great for me. My mom and I are doing to pedicure and manicure together - FREE! can't beat that. Â We still have to put together the music list and make the lights for the lanterns. Â Few more things to do and I think I will call it a QUIT!!! We are flying into Mexico on Wed Oct 6. How about you? It would be nice to finally meet you and have a drink together! Amanda and I are both getting married on Oct 10 (not to each other...but on the same day ) and I will be using iPOD and Amanda is having a DJ. I will let you know how the iPOD worked out at our wedding! Â Quote: Originally Posted by beaz2be Anyone care to share again what they're doing DJ-wise? Even with the $500 outside vendor fee?!?! Â I'm still debating DJ stuff. I would do the IPOD myself but FI feels that a DJ might be better (music is important for him). We also have a friend who may be coming who's a DJ but I don't think I really want to ask him to work at our wedding.... Â Looking for opinions. We are using Erik Rodriguez for 5 hours at cost of $2850. It's pricey but I do love his work and didn't have to bring a photographer with us to Mexico or pay outside vendor fee. I have the wedding photo package with all the costs. If you would like, please send me your email address and I will send it to you.
  8. Meghan, I LOVE your pictures. I am so excited for Erik to take our pictures on October 10!!! Â Congratulations! He really surprised you with the proposal from a big screen TV!!! Â We are getting a cake. It's expensive...but we really LOVE sweets. We also have a great selection of desserts but still wanted to have a cake.
  9. Ladies, I have 19 days till the wedding and 14 days till we leave to Mexico. The time is going fast!!! We still have few things to take care of... My FI doesn't seem to be in a panic mode since I am doing everything!!! Ahhhhhhh... we are sooo close
  10. i LOVE it. Looks great!!! Where are you putting the monograms? Wow.. Have a great time! I will pray for sun shining day for you guys!!! I know.. isn't this crazy. it's almost time to pack and ready to go!!! Â
  11. CJ - This is a tough situation. I am sorry to hear that this happened to you both. It's just not fair sometimes. Just take a deep breath and attach one at a time...we have so much to do before our wedding!!! Try to stay positive Wow!!! Congrats on gaining the weight. (this sounds kind weird since everyone is trying to lose weight). I have my last dress fitting this weekend. We are leaving Oct 6 so I have two more weeks to go. I am sooo excited!!!
  12. I am sorry to hear that. I had a similar situation... my FI's parent got divorced few years ago. my soon to be father-in-law has a girlfriend and wanted to bring her to the wedding but my soon to be mother-in-law really didn't like the idea. We were really worried about potential arguments or even fights! FIL's girlfriend decided not to come to the wedding... so we kinda avoid that issue. Â Did you already invited her? It's hard to UN-INVITE someone...but if she could potentially ruin your wedding, I am not sure if it's a good idea to have her there. NO DRAMA on your wedding day. that is a MUST!!! I am sorry to hear that she put you in this situation. I hope you can figure out what's best for YOU and YOUR FI.
  13. Thanks! I spent numerous hours looking for my bouquet. I think this is the hardest part about having a wedding so far away - trying to find a picture of everything you want. There is NO such a picture exists!!! I think your combo sounds great! I didn't want to have all white flowers since my FI is also wearing all white. You can make your just bigger to differentiate from bridesmaids bouquet. My bridesmaids dress has 2 shades of blue and light green. Then they are carrying something white & pink flowers. I am all over the place with my colors. But who cares!!! I do think pink and blue go together I heard that WC at the resort act as a MC and ipod controller. I am counting on that so we don't have to ask someone to announce us. 20 Days till our wedding!!! I will let you know once I am back We have 27 people coming to our wedding. What time is your ceremony? We definitely wanted to have the sit down dinner. Even though it's more money than we wanted to pay for (we are doing the $39 per person family style dinner), this is something we didn't want to skip on. I heard that many people changed their clothes and hang out at the pool all night. We didn't want to go out too far since we do want to go back to our room at some point and enjoy the moments together  We are also having the rehearsal dinner night before the wedding to have a chance to introduce everyone. Not everyone knows everyone...  You got plenty of time to think about what you want to do!!!  FYI - This is my preliminary schedule:  1pm: start to get ready (hair, makeup, etc) 4pm: private pictures (we decided to meet each other before the ceremony to take some pictures) 5:30pm: ceremony 6:00pm: open bar (we decided to have the bar open first and start the dinner around 7pm) 7:00pm: first dance & cake cutting (we only have the photographers for 5 hrs so decided to cut the cake in the beginning so we can have pictures of it) 7:30pm: dinner  Haha.. my FI is not into dancing at all. We debated on the dance floor (maybe use the yoga platform area?) but decided to just have it.
  14. Maggie, Lucky you! I am still looking for the music. I am almost in a panic mode trying to put together the music for the ceremony and reception. I do agree that bagpipes music sounds bit out of place for mexico wedding but who cares! It's your day I am getting married on October 10. 22 days till our wedding!!! I am nervous since I've never been to the resort but I heard so many good things about. Â Oh my gosh... no USD? I need to do little more investigation. Thanks for the tip! Â
  15. Trish, My bouquet is $200 (see the picture below) and bridesmaids bouquets are $60 each. Mine has orchids but not in the bridesmaids bouquets... it's going to be all roses so it can be cheaper  Â
  16. TLGnhci Your daughter is so pretty. The dress look pretty too but it is definitely big on her. How much is it for alteration? It might be worth it. And the Invitations look awesome!
  17. Welcome!!! 1. I don't think Spoon is big enough to handle 50-60 guests. Something you should talk to your WC about... 2. You should ask about the FREE Sweet Wedding Package. I know some brides were able to get the FREE wedding package and have a sky deck wedding for maybe additional cost(?). 3. I am using Destination Weddings TA - Gayle Hirsch. She is AWESOME and FREE. She is also GIWC so we were able to qualify for some additional free stuff. Then the resort WC is free. 4. I was told that we can't get dinner reservation for such a big group. If you get the FREE sweet wedding package or silver wedding package, you should be able to make a private dinner reservation at SPOON. Though this reservation was for max 40 or 50 people. You need to check that with WC. 5. The cost of decoration and flowers varies depend on what you want. I have to say they are expensive. We are bringing all the reception decorations with us. My bridesmaids bouquets are $60 each and boutonnieres are $30 each. 6. You should use TA to contact the resort. Â I hope this helps. Many of your questions will be answers once you have TA and WC for your wedding.
  18. Congrats!!! Where are you having the ceremony at? I was told 3pm might be too hot outside and was recommended to have some kind of shade. I changed my wedding time to 530pm instead. You might want to check it out. Â
  19. HeHe... I boss my FI around all the time...though it doesn't work every time. It's always better for you to boss him around then the other way Amanda, we are having mojitos as our signature drinks and it's FREE. I guess it's already available at the resort so no special liquor is required... Â I was told NO. I also wanted to ship some boxes in advance but it is HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED. The resort is not responsible if the boxes get lost. I don't want to take that chance... Â Thanks. We are so excited about our mojito!!! Â That is expensive... $25 per bottle? Luckily we are pretty flexible Â
  20. Is anyone having drinks at the ceremony site? I saw some pictures of everyone toasting after the ceremony... how much is it? My WC sent me the wine and champagne list and that's not what I am looking for. Any suggestions? Should I just have everyone go to the reception area to get the drinks? What do you think? Â
  21. I am sorry to hear about your house. It's always something. I hope everything works out soon  We are paying $1410 per person for 9 nights/10 days in the lowest level suite. Though we are getting upgraded so I am super excited about that.  It is stressful. I got less than 30 days to go and have to say it wasn't as easy as I thought. Why is the destination wedding so much harder? I am happy to hear that you are being positive about everything. It will work out. But everyone is having one of those moments... money is definitely one thing I am super stressed about but my mom keep reminding me is that half of the money we are spending is really for US not for the guest...like the hotel and flight, etc. And she is right. Half of my budget is actually being spent on US. Â
  22. we are doing family style dinner. it's the most expensive option but we thought it will give the most options for our guests. we have some picky eaters we initially looked at having the BBQ but we didn't like the idea that some were pre-cooked and some were just getting reheated on the grill. Also, it's not as nice... it is a wedding and didn't want people to lick fingers and be all messy. Â That's a great idea! I hate DIY projects.... Â Amanda, the bags look great! I am sure your guests will love it. LOVE your menu design. we opted to just have the menu put together by the resort as part of the free wedding package. Â weclome bags.docx
  23. You can vent all your want here. We are here to listen. So funny that your FI is all over you about the wedding stuff. Don't let him boss you around since he is paying for the wedding I do agree with everyone that you got a DEAL for your extra week of honeymoon. Â Amanda, We are sooooo close. Less than 30 days We are still taking care of little things. I am soooo nervous that we are not going to have everything. I am so glad to hear that OOT bags came in and look great. We bought Whole Foods bag as our OOT bags. They were $0.87 per bag, looks pretty and something everyone can use later. Â Yes, we should talk. We are also taking some pictures before our ceremony but should not be no where near the sky deck but you just never know. I don't have my detail sheet finalized yet. Carolina and I are planning to talk on Monday to go over the details before we pay for it. Let's setup a time... not sure when I am actually available since my work has been crazy. Let me know
  24. Jamie, Thanks. I am so excited about the beach BBQ area after seeing your pictures. I am not sure which beach gazebo we will be using but we will figure it out once we are there Hope you are feeling better!!! Â
