  2. I used Eric and Wendy from L'Amour. They are out of this world amazing!!! They are very talented and super nice. http://www.lmprophoto.com/
  3. I highly recommend buzz's catering. The food is amazing, and Marla the manager is so responsive, and very sweet. I love her. I am in the middle of writing us my reviews, and let me know if you have more questions.
  4. I ended up using Cherise from the perfect maui wedding. She charges a flat fee $700 and allowed me to book my own vendors. She gives me great advice when I needed it, and she is so awesome. I am in the middle of writing up my reviews. Let me know if you have more questions.
  5. klfeuerstein, sorry I didn't post any sooner. I just got back from traveling yesterday. Mira is great. She did such a great job, I cannot say enough good things about her. She is very accommodating. For my trial, I had to be an hour late due to some family emergency, and I felt terrible, but she made it very comfortable for me. Btw, she's got a great personality. I just love her. As far as her skill goes, she is everything that I was looking for. I had something in mind, but I didn't tell her. I asked her for her option, and she suggested everything that I was looking for without telling her. Also, she is very detail-orientated. I showed her a picture of my wedding dress during trail and the earring that I plan to wear, and she incorporated those elements with my hair style. My dress had rushing, and she layered my hair on the side to resemble that. All in all, I highly recommend her. Quoting my husband, she made me look a better version of me, but it is still me. I hope this helps. Let me know if I can help answer more questions.
  6. yeah, i booked her for 2/8/11. I'll let you know my experience afterwards.
  7. My boy wants to wear a light colored linen jacket, and I am not sure if we should buy it or rent it. Since there is no Men's warehouse on the island, could someone please share their experience if they had rented on the island? Or what you have done? I am seriously freaking out, wedding is one month away, so any ideas/suggestions/help that you ladies can give will be greatly appreciated.
  8. I am 37 days away from my wedding, and I still haven't figured out what the boys will be wearing. I am ready to tear my hair out!! I want the more casual look, and bought some banana republic khakis from the outlet at a reasonable price Now, it is really hard to find a non-dressy blue short sleeved shirt at a reasonable price. the closest that I've found is this one right here, http://www.islandimporter.com/product.php?productid=11&cat=3&page=1 but since we are buying everyone's outfit, $44 a piece for 4 people add up really quickly. For shoes, http://www.zappos.com/olukai-ohana-leather-black-black?zlfid=111 looks really good, and comfy but at $89 a pair. 10. we are getting married there next Feb. cannot wait
  11. we are renting condos. and this one is a great deal, although it is a two bedroom. http://www.vrbo.com/40374 their pictures are better on their own website http://rentonmaui.com/See%20our%20unit.htm we rent it for our parents, and family, and we rent it for $150, and it seems the price is $125 now and we'll be staying in another condo in the same building. http://www.vrbo.com/205628 Generally this area has lots of condos for rent, and prices is very good, view is very nice too. If you want hotel, then this one Maui coast hotel seem to have very reasonable price, and the pictures look very nice too. http://www.mauicoasthotel.com/ hope this help.
  12. I understand the concept of "Maui Time", and I have to say that we chose to have the wedding in Maui partly because of the lay back, relaxing feeling that we get from reading about Maui. We've never been to Hawaii. Several times now where one of the vendor that I've contacted say she or he will get back to me on a certain time and just didn't hear from she or he in days. Well, being the type A and control freak (I say this in the most loving way) that I am, it is making it very hard for me. So would someone please shred some light on the question, what's the standard time that I should wait before contact the vendors again after they said they'll get back to me on a certain day? two days? a week?
  13. Congras renstar. What you said really holds true for us as well. We were thinking of having the wedding in Seattle first, and then realized that it'd have to be a really big wedding. So we decided to go to Maui instead, however, it turns out that most of our friends just like us had never been there either, so they are all coming! With our family and relatives who are aching to make a vacation out of it. So long story short, now we are doubled in size that we had anticipated for.... So just watch out... don't invite people 'cause you think they'll never come 'cause it's far or what not, they might just surprise you by showing up Quote: Originally Posted by renstar Thanks fallfromgrace! But since we're within our 1 year mark already, I've been desperately trying to find a venue asap so we can give an official date to our friends and family.
  14. I just found her website randomly through some other vendor link, and her profile seem impressive. Anyone had personal experience?
  15. Thank you ladies for your response. I'll pay attention to the contact wording then
  16. Try food for the soul. Food For The Soul Maui Catering Tina is great, and the price she quote me on the phone is exact same as when I received the written quote.
  17. Hello, follow brides I have a question regarding to the privacy of the wedding photos. Do the photographer post the pictures by default unless you told them not to? Could we ask the photographers not to post our pictures on their blog? or password protect it at least? or use fake names? The idea of someone is able to google me with my name and see all my wedding pictures is kinda... I am not sure how to feel about that, although I do realize that's how a photographer will show case his or her work. Any ideas? Thanks, Vicki

  19. I've sign the contact, and found out the details about those questions and figure i'd share it here in case others might find it useful. Insurance, yes, need to get it, depending on the number of people, and alcohol or not, etc, it runs about 100-200 dollars for the day. Guests can use the house, just not the bathroom in the main house, there is a separate bathhouse that has a mens and womens with 2 stalls in each for guests. Reason being the house is over 90 years old hence the plumbing might not support large number of guests. The guests can use the house, but just to be sure they don't break anything or we'll end up paying for it. Yes, IPod Players are allowed but must be supervised by an approved Sound Technician, and most of the DJ's will provide this service or try Gus at Take 3 808-874-7083. How much would that be anyone knows? Also, it says on the website that Does that mean the guests cannot go into the house i.e. living room etc? Or does that only apply to bedrooms and baths? We'll not have a DJ, we plan to play music from our ipod, and the website says Anyone has done this before? Any approved sound technician to recommend? 20. So I am doing something similar for my wedding on 2/8/2011. I am planning it myself. Although if you read Tovaqt's past posts, she recommends a flat fee coordinator which sounds like a great option. As far as reception goes, you probably will pay about $70 per person everything included for the food. (no drinks) And to hire 3 hula dancers+musician+fire drummer for 2 hours entertainment will be around $1000 according to my research which put you a bit over $5000 for 60 people. If your budget is $10000 for the whole thing, that leave you less than $5000 for the rest, officiant, venue rental, rentals including tent, outdoor lighting (if venue doesn't provide it), floral, photography, musician/dj or you can opt to do ipod yourself, which might be doable depending on what you look for. Hope this helps. Quote: Originally Posted by renstar Hi! Just starting our planning for our DW for May 2011. We were hoping to have our ceremony and reception on a lawn near a beach. Anyone have any ideas which wedding planners or places may be able to provide such services?
  21. alright apparently I cannot edit previous message the system told me I can only edit it within 60 minutes? what's up with that? anyway, I just double checked her website, and I think she goes by Bata Plavsic. The previous name was taken from her email. Hope this help ring a bell. Looking forward to hear from you ladies. Bata Plavsic
  22. Hello, follow maui brides has anyone used Nebojsa Plavsic service before? Her price seems very reasonable, compare to Jessica+Dan combo with their separate travel fees.
  23. Hello, all could someone who had their wedding or going to have their wedding help me out with this? I saw that on there website there is a this part under terms and conditions Quote: Insurance Requirement As stated in the "Site Use Agreement" OEA requires a One million dollar insurance policy naming Olowalu Elua Associates as addition insured and provides the date and name of the event being covered. Failure to receive this insurance will result in the cancellation of the event. What does this mean exactly? That I need to take out a one million dollar insurance policy on the house for one day? How much would that be anyone knows? Also, it says on the website that Quote: The bedrooms and baths are limited to the bridal parties use only. Does that mean the guests cannot go into the house i.e. living room etc? Or does that only apply to bedrooms and baths? We'll not have a DJ, we plan to play music from our ipod, and the website says Quote: IPod Players are allowed but must be supervised by an approved Sound Technician. Anyone has done this before?
