  1. Haha well i like to do my best! Seriously I am having major doubts now. I know it's a bit late but I didn´t realise how many people I have to say goodbye to, until I started saying goodbye!!!!! Haven't even said goodbye to my mum and dad yet! That is gonna be a killer, I´m a wreck, I¨m filling up as I type!!! I´m just looking at it as an extended holiday in the uk now, and if i don´t like it i can come home to spain, it´s the only way i´m staying sane(ish). I feel like the worst parent in the world, taking Mia out of spanish school where she's happy and she has so much freedom, and plonking her in Sheffield where it's freezing and she doesn´t know anyone her own age..... Ok this isn´t helping anyone! I'm off to roar for a bit and do a spot of packing! xxxxxxxxx Quote: Originally Posted by Nicyx Yeah, shame i havent had it in my town yet but it its been in the city where i work and surrounding areas x I just cant believe your moving already!!! 2. Thanks Nic, seriously, snow? the kids will love it! I got hammered last night, didn´t get in til half 3 this morning, we leave tomorrow morning at 9am, i've got so much to do, but can't seem to stop shaking!
  3. Oh dear Char! You are so funny, I feel like I was in your flat with you! I think you're doing a cracking job, she is probably trying to push you into confrontation, so the more you smile sweetly on the outside and think BOLLOCKS on the inside, the more you will wind her up. I have learned the plus side of not slating OH's family, if they do something to wind me up, I say nothing and wait for OH to say it. If I go in first slagging them off, he feels obliged to defend them. Silence is golden. (up to a point, then shouting and swearing work better!) I do think it's really nice of you to take her in, you will defo go to heaven for this!
  4. It's true Michelle, things got a lot easier after the wedding. They've got 100 times harder in the last 10 days since we got a date on our house. We had to pack up and get all our stuff shipped off with about 5 days notice. We leave on Sunday morning to come back to your cold cold country and OMG we cannot agree on anything at the moment!
  5. Don't worry, CHILLAX!!!!! They didn´t contact me until about 5 weeks before the wedding, they probably could have left it later and it wouldn´t have mattered, as nothing gets formalised until your meeting anyway. Maybe fire off an email to nancy and the spa just to remind them that you're alive, but don´t worry, they will be on top of everything. This is what they do!
  6. Nicy you´ve done amazing, well done.... i just checked that website out, if i can ever find the motivation i'm going to have a go myself. best of luck for tomorrow. michelle, "on the larger side"????? you make me laugh, good on you for taking the higher ground, and you too char, your mil's sound like fucking lunatics to me. well it´s official, we are on our way home. found a house (hopefully). one of my best friends is going to view it this week, and if it´s ok we've just gotta give em 6months rent up front, cos we've been here for so long we´ve got no references or credit rating.... hey ho, i'm sure i´ve got 4grand tucked away somewhere..... must be in my other jeans.....
  7. I had my face and hair and nails done at the Renova. She did a great job on all of them although i would say that the eye makeup was a bit on the heavy side..... i'm thinking tranny here. i would still recommend her though, cos after i wiped a bit off it still looked heaps better than could have done it. she put false eyelashes on for me too which i cannot do myself. they use MAC cosmetics, but it was kind of dark in the salon when she did me, so when i got out in the natural light i was a wee bit orange, but then i don´t really wear makeup most of the time anyway. These were minor things, nothing that a cotton bud couldn´t put right. My make up stayed put all day, and looking at the photos i think i scrubbed up a treat! .
  8. defo worth having in that case! pop some in yer bra for the interview too!
  9. well they looked cracking in the picture you posted of when you tried your dress on!
  10. i like! how many bikini's am i likely to need in Sheffield??????????
  11. well i think i made it to midnight... apparently antony took me home, i got half my hair out and stripped off. ants says he came out of the bathroom, found me facedown naked on the bed.... thought whe-he-hey!!!!!! then i said "get me a bucket, i´m going to puke". classy.
  12. didn´t see this post yesterday, glad it got back to you safe and sound! thanks for lending it to me! haha you will def be steaming by the reception, i got married at 3 and was shitfaced by 6! but the adrenalin will keep you going! normally i´d have passed out wi a bucket at that level of drunken-ness! when i went to the renova spa at our side of the resort they had a cut out of your 'hair style in their wedding book, someone had already taken it! so they are used to doing that kind of thing....... definitely take it with you, but be prepared that it might end up a tiny bit more formal than what you excpect. mine did but i loved it anyway. they will spray the life out of it, i have got a big curly frizzy wafro and it didn´t move all day, plus it took abou 4 washes to get the clumps out the next day so take LOADS of shampoo and conditioner!
  13. we got married at 3, it was roasting in the chapel, but fine outside.... but then again it was january and it was a cloudy raining day. what month are you getting married?
  14. Wowsers Char, everything is gorgeous, love the bm dresses and the flowergirl dress.. and the table runners.... and pretty much everything! And i think purple is an excellent choice.... yeah ok i had purple too!
  15. Welcome back Char! Have you got photos of all your purchases to show us????? Who is going to be best man now, I think you behaved so well, it's clear who is the arsehole!
  16. This is the reply from my friend who got married in Mexico Yeah we had a Civil service, I have updated my bank, work, and electro roll, doctors and stuff like that but I phoned about updating my passport and they wont accept the Spanish cert. Need to get it translated first which is annoying. You can register your marriage cert too. I’ve not done any of this yet, I have 8 years left on my passport so wont be spending out on updating that for a bit, I haven’t tried to update my driving licence yet. We’ve only been married a year next Friday lol, maybe I should get my ass in gear and get it sorted. These are sum links that should tell you what you need to do ) xxHiya, Yeah we had a Civil service, I have updated my bank, work, and electro roll, doctors and stuff like that but I phoned about updating my passport and they wont accept the Spanish cert. I´m not changing my name so i guess it doesn´t really matter that much, i just wondered about when i write my status down as being married on mortgage applications, child benefit applications etc. oh well i'll deal with it and let you all know!
  17. Phenergan is available over the counter and it´s normally used for travel sickness or as an antihistamine, but the marvellous benefit of it is that it makes you fall asleep ( no operating heavy machinery now!) I felt a bit guilty about the thought of using it at first, but i've got two nurse friends with kids and they told me it is exactly what they use. Just make sure you test them with it first to check it doesn´t have the opposite effect, and work with the dosage! Oh really? Well i'm in two minds. I hate the thought of taking all our personal stuff out there, passports, birth certs etc.... plus if i do take them and they dont have the apostile stamp legalising them would they be any good anyway? We the WC out there said we only need passports and visa cards i checked with Caribbean Warehouse and they said that Cosmos had confirmed that was the correct info they had at the time too.... i'm sure if it changed they would let me know wouldn't they.... ? <michelle they would totally let you know. don´t stress about it they know what they´re doing!
  18. Riu Palace Mexico was where we had the ceremony and photos, but we were actually staying at the cheapy Tequila over the road! It was raining that day so they moved us across the road to the Palace, I was well chuffed cos i got a posh wedding at a cheap price!
  19. that is a very good question! and i wish i knew the answer.... we didn´t even look into it cos we live in spain so assumed it would be fine as it is, but now we´re moving back to the sunny UK we will have to look at it. I'm friends with a girl on facebook who got married at my resort, so i'll fb her and see what she did!
  20. Michelle we didn´t bother taking our birth certificates with us, cos we were told most definitely we didn´t need them, but then again they don´t weigh anything so maybe slip them in if it gives you peace of mind. nothing needed apostiling, translating etc. about a month before the wedding the wc sent us a form to fill out by email with details of our parents, and witnesses (and us too!), then when we had the meeting once we were in mexico, we took our two passports and travel cards, and those of our witnesses with us and she toddled off and photocopied them and that was it! 21. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/55734/amy-s-personalized-travel-mugs-shot-glasses try that. honestly though i think michelles look better
  22. wow michelle i think they look great, i wouldn´t even bother with vistaprint tbh! nic will go and have a dig around and see if i can find the link
  23. You're on fire! Did you know as well as getting the shot glasses engraved you can get them painted with some stuff, or you can get teeny-tiny stickers off vista print that you can stick on them and personalise as much as you want? they´re dishwasher resistant too. i´ve got a link knocking about somewhere if you're interested. Gorgeous gorgeous shoes!
  24. In a word? NIGHTMARE Mia was fine, she just ate and played on the games on the tv thingy, we tried drugging jacob, gave him some fenergán, but only gave him half a dose so he just got a bit grumpy and was really hard work, we gave him the other half and it knocked him out within ten minutes. Then stupidly after an hour or so we decided to straighten him out and he woke up and spent the next 8 hours whinging and running up and down the plane looking for his grandparents. (while antony had disappeared up the back of the plane with his dad and 8 cans of stella!) on the way back we gave him a bigger dose, he whinged for a bit, then made himself a little bed on the floor at our feet and slept for at least 5 hours. result. so honestly, if you can get fenergán i´d dose scarlett up! (test it on her first tho cos it sends a small percentage of kids the other way and they go a bit hyperactive and mentall!!!! and you don´t want that on a 10 hour flight.)
