Hi girls, I am so glad that most of you had such a great experience. If you girls go back a couple pages (maybe 100 :-)) you will see my postings. I ordered from gianinarbridal as well and my experience was just "OK". First I thought I will keep the dress and wear it as my main dress but now that I am so close to my wedding (Dec. 4th) I ran to David's Bridal and bought a second dress. And to be honest: most of the bridal stores are maybe annoying and the sales persons try to push you to purchase a dress but I felt so comfortable at David's Bridal because nobody tried hard to sell me a dress, I was honest from the beginning that I actually have a dress already and that I am just so unhappy with all the alterations I would have to make so that I would be "satisfied". The girls from David's bridal took care of me from A to Z. I would not recommend ordering from abroad anymore. I know it is more expensive to go with a store but don't forget, ladies that there is so much service included, all the dress fittings, trying it on with the bra and shoes you will end up wearing, etc. and not to forget the drycleaning/pressing before you can take it home. I was lucky to be able to purchase a second dress so close to my wedding day but they promised me to be done with all the alterations 2 weeks before so I could have a 3rd dressfitting in case the 2nd is not perfect yet. anyways, good luck everyone finding the perfect dress. I just fell in love with this one: and thats my first dress from gianinar:

Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica
christinak82 replied to tim-juleswed's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
akua: we got our room upgrade through our travel agent who automatically did it because we have 50 guests booking through her. and dont worry about it, yes you are right, you can pick everything as far as decorations, flowers, location, etc. when you get there. no need to worry about it now :-) I get very quick responses from Beverly's assistent Chandlyn, she is very reliable and usually gets back to me in 48 hours. this is her email address: [email protected] good luck everyone... my wedding is on December 4th... coming up soon :-) -
Hi girls,  good and bad news.  Good news is that the assistant of Beverly finally got back to me (after 1 month). She also sent me pictures of two restaurants:  1. This is the italian restaurant    2. Thats the garden grill restaurant   both restaurants are for semi-private receptions and she also told me that we would need 100 people to get the private reception. that made us a little sad because we really considered to book a whole restaurant for ourselves but we have only 60 people attending our wedding.  here is also some other information, in case you are interested (blue are my questions, red are the answers)  1. At what time should we plan the reception dinner? Dinner is 6:30pm -8:30pm 2. What reception locations are available (both private & semi-private) for about 50-70 persons? It would be great if you could include one picture for each location or recommend a room for this number of persons (from what I found online, I liked the restaurant with the columns and the huge ceiling with windows, don’t know the name though) We offer the Italian and the Grill for semi-private dinner. Please see attached photos. For private dinner we offer both restaurants. Private is for a minimum of 100 persons and this requires the closure of the restaurant at a cost of US2500 which includes set up, music, mic and podium. Menu is at an additional cost. 3. I was reading online that Gran Bahia has a Piano Bar. Would it be possible that one of my friends would play our first dance song on the piano and another friend of ours would sing? Is there a microphone available? Please note that this is not usually permitted so I would therefore need authorization from my manager. You however do have the option of having the dance at the gazebo with the rental of a keyboard with speaker and mic 4. After the reception dinner we would like to reserve the DJ for the Gazebo from 8.30 to 11.30pm on December 4th, 2010. This can be arranged at a cost of US500 and includes the DJ. please note however that the latest time is 10:45pm 5. We would also like to have a steel drum band playing during our ceremony and the cocktail hour while our guests are waiting for us to come back from the photo session. Can you reserve the band for us?Steel band is confirmed. 6. In the reception locations, will there be music/a microphone available for speeches and dances? You may do speeches at the semi-private dinner. Dancing is however not permitted. 7. When we arrive in Jamaica and meet with you the first time, do you offer/show us a selection of centerpieces that we can choose from for our reception tables or do we have to bring or own. You may decide at our meeting on your selection or you may bring your own. 8. Same question for chair ties/covers: are there any available at the resort or do we have to bring our own?We offer chair covers at a cost of US5 each and ties at S2.50 each. You may also purchase just the covers and bring your own ties. 9. Do you maybe know a German-English interpreter who could translate our ceremony? 10. Will you be there for the wedding to guide the guests where to go and what to do?Yes we will be there   I didnt think they have so many restrictions but whatever... I hope everything will work out... Hi Kerrij, Â when did you find out about the final cost of your wedding and how did it work with the payment? Did you pay anything upfront except for the deposit/the wedding package you chose? How did you estimate the cost of your wedding. My fiance and I are having a hard time to get in touch with Beverly and we are so clueless about how to calculate how much we will be spending in the end. I hope you can help us. Â Thanks Â

thanks girls for your posts again.... I think I will write gianinar and tell them that I have so many issues with that dress and that I tried it over and over again to see if I will change my mind but I didnt. I think about ordering another one (hopefully gianinar will give me a discount/refund or something, I mean I ordered 5 dresses already!). But this time I will request poly or silk tafetta and make it much more simple. I can still use that one as my ttd (even though we didnt plan a ttd session :-D but thats a good reason to do it). Now I just wait for my bridesmaids dresses to arrive cause I dont want to complain before I havent received them.

thanks so much for all the posts. I guess I have to wait and see what a seamstress can do. The only thing I am worried about is that I will think about all those little things on my wedding day and because of that I will feel uncomfortable. And this is the last thing I want... another question: do you get you dress pressed/steamed/ironed before the wedding? How do you plan on bringing it to your wedding destination?

I hope you can get it fixed to your liking. It really is a beautiful dress, not to mention it fits you very, very, well. thank you for your encouragement... I know I shouldnt go crazy because its all only small (and hopefully fixable) things... but I am such a perfectionist and sometimes I wonder how people can do their jobs so "half-hearted" :-D jeeez... maybe I should go see a therapist ;-)

The parts where the edges of the material comes out is pretty unacceptable! In the end I knew that NOBODY would be analyzing my dress so closely on that big day. And honestly, for under $200, I knew it wasn't going to be perfect and accepted these tiny little flaws. I'm sorry it's not what you wanted it to be and hope you can figure out what to do with it!! HUGS! haha... thats pretty funny :-) you really cheered me up... but it was your ttd, right?
