  1. alright ladies, are you ready for some very scary things? the very noticable run on the left breast part and needle stitches I tried every possible position to fold that pleat right so that it lies even.. no chance: have to fix that myself: the bust again: stitch holes everywhere: back of the dress with stitch line and lose part: I didnt pull it out or anything... it just doesnt stay inside... dont know what to do... I think I will try to see a seamstress next week and get some advice on that.... otherwise I just order a new dress...
  2. alright girls: I took some pics of my dress today... I could tie it up pretty tight and I hoped that all the crooked parts would disappear but it still looks weird on/to me... I will post some pics of the whole dress first and then show you some details that I think make the dress look really sh...y! I dont know if I can fix that all... my mother in law said its all just small things, but because there are so many small things I´ve noticed, it just gets a whole big unignorable thing... this is the sweetheart cleavage... totally crooked... the left side looks normal, the right side goes up too much looks weird, right: the back of the dress looks actually pretty nice: left side with beading:
  3. what a beautiful dress AJ Mitchell.. good luck with choosing the right material. if they offer you a better quality of satin then you should definitely think about spending a little more to get this flowy look... @peterpanpixie: did you get your dress yet or are they still working on your changes?
  4. I wouldnt recommend poly satin because it feels stiff and is not shiny. I regret that I didnt order tafetta. But I was afraid that it will look cheap. I already thought about writing gianinar and ask if they can make the same dress in taffetta maybe with a discount. So my mother in law was here yesterday and helped me with the dress. but she didnt really understand how to tie it up, so it even looked worse than when I did it myself. was definitely not worth taking pictures of that. so I will do it later again myself and post pics
  5. Hi girls, I got my dress yesterday from gianinarbridal and I tried to take it on myself but it didnt really work :-) my mother in law will come over tomorrow and help me, so I will post pictures tomorrow or on friday then. but here is my opinion about the first impression: First of all: it didnt WOW me. I dont know why but when I looked at it I didnt feel like I get a new dress which has been treated carefully. I found some staints which are maybe not visible at first sight but when you look at it more detailed it really made me upset. Second: I am not so impressed about the fabric. Like I mentioned before: I ordered thin satin and its not thin at all, not shiny and it feels a little weird. Not soft or pleasant. And indeed it is kinda stiff. But in my case it is nothing too bad because I didnt pick a dress that has to be so flowy although I really wanted it to be a little more mellow. But what annoys me the most are the little runs (one directly over the bust) and needle stitches that are visible all over my corset. they make my dress look used. I didnt look at it again since I unwrapped it yesterday. I hope when I look at it later, my first bad impression will be gone... I am even a little scared to show it to my mother in law. She was the one who asked me a few times if I really want to get a knock-off and if its the money issue I have and I said no, that I want to have a custom dress because I didnt find the perfect dress I want in a store...
  6. Hi peterpanpixiedust, I see what you mean. I have to admit it looks a little stiff. I really hope it is just the pictures. I ordered thin satin for my gown too and my dress looks a little stiff too.. what worries me too is that this thin satin doesnt look shiny... but maybe its the pictures too.. dont think you are picky. it is completely normal that you want you dress to be perfect. I sent at least 4 requests with changes to gianinar and they were always friendly with responding and fixing. I will receive my dress soon. I will let you know how the thin satin feels and if it is flowy, ok?
  7. Thank you all :-) I am so glad to hear that. @ pamphilla: yes it was the dress with the long frill :-) looks so much better now...
  8. omg, I just got proof pics for my bridesmaids dresses and they are absolutely gorgeous... I am so impressed... gianinarbridal is so great to deal with... they did exactly what I wanted... they are only $80 (shipping included)... so happy... :-) what do you think, ladies?
  9. I am soo excited. I received a tracking number today for my dress from gianinar. it should arrive some day next week... I cant wait to see it. I will post some pics as soon as I get it...

I would love to see more... it gets me so excited...
  11. there are two other threads that are pretty helpful to this resort: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...t-there-51518/ http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...jamaica-50712/ maybe this will help her

AHHHH it was a risk I took..... back to the drawing board! :-) are you sure the original dress on your picture is really ivory? It looks pretty dark. I ordered ivory too. but if my dress would turn out that dark I would be very disappointed. but of course if you wanted this exact color and the bridal store told you that this is the color, its pretty annoying..

  14. Hi Jamk, I actually think that the skirt looks very nice, nicer than the original... BUT: I understand what you mean about the bodice, I think it is just the doll though, which is a little too skinny for that dress, thats why it looks like it is visible, I think it will be fine as soon as you get it and its tight on you... the dress looks like its a kind of diamond-white... some designers have this yellowish ivory, some have the more white ivory... I dont think it is white-white though... you see the reflections pretty good, which is a good sign for off-white... about the flowers: hmm... I think they are cute but of course if you wanted beading I can understand that you are not so happy about it.. All in all I would say, its a gorgeous dress, I LOVE LOVE the skirt from the front and from the back...
  15. oh and of course I am very excited to see some pics, kerri... :-)
  16. oh and one more question: did beverly say something about the fact that you brought your own photographer? did you get your wedding pics done already? maybe you can post some here... that would be great
  17. @ jenny: did you subscribe in that other thread about gran bahia? there is a girl (I think from canada too), she recommends a fotographer who would pay his/her own stay and flight and charge for the pictures only... this girl (name: tim-jules) was very happy with her choice.... maybe its really a good deal, you should look at it: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...12/index4.html @ kerri: thanks again for the info... now I only need to convince my fiancé to begin with the ceremony a little earlier... I dont want to regret later that this special day was over too fast because we chose a later time :-(
  18. Thanks girls, yeah I agree with you pamphilla, it looks very short on that picture but somehow photobucket stretched it so much that it looks very "disadvantageous" (looks like its made for a heavy midget girl :-D). But I have to admit, even the original picture looks like the dress seems to be a little short... I just hope that the picture is misleading... in fact, one of my bridesmaids is only 5.2 feet tall.... maybe thats her dress they sent me...
  19. yeah it is pretty interesting that all the bad reviews appear now about gianinarbridal... I am actually really happy about my dress. I got my proof pics today... I just requested a small change of the shoulderstrap which I wanted to be closer to the tie up in the back. but other than that I am pretty happy with the result... now I just hope it will fit me... I am less happy about my bridesmaids dresses though... everything seems a little crooked... I sent the pics to my bridesmaids, so they can decide what they want to change before receiving the dress.. I dont really get why they made that frill so long... it should be tea-length too... I just cannot decide if I should like it or hate it... Looking forward to hear some opinions..
  20. Thank you for all the information. The total cost of your wedding is really low... I am very relieved... Yes, we booked December 4th at Gran Bahia... So excited to see girls being so happy with this resort.
  21. @ kerri: thanks again for all the info. you said that because of your ceremony time, you were in a rush, right? I try to convince my fiance to move our ceremony to an earlier time but he says he doesnt want to sweat his @ss of if its that early in the afternoon... how was it for you kerri? was it that hot?
  22. @ mekanabr: I have the exact same package prices, so nothing changed since october last year. we chose the cheapest package because we will be getting married in New York before we go there and I try to discuss with Beverly if we can get a discount because we dont need all the official paperwork, etc. what package did you chose? do you plan on renting the gazebo for dancing and do you want to have a private reception or just what kerri did?
  23. congratulations, jules!! makes me very excited to hear that you had such a fantastic experience. thank you so much for sharing that info with us... so did you pay the $2500 for the private reception? and what package did you chose? did you have to pay a certain amount per additional guest?
  24. Gianinarbridal sent me pictures of my moms dress today... I think its very well made... so ladies, what do you think about it: and thats the original:
