I thought about paper lanterns but wasnt sure where to hang them, our reception is on the patio, it doesnt seem to be that many trees, maybe its just how I saw it, I did see star lanterns that I absolutely loved, so if there is a way would love to get those!! Not doing chair sashes, table overlay already decided on and will be rented from the resort. Table numbers is a DIY with our pictures and telavera inspired numbers... man 4 months to go and still a ton to do!

Anyhow, I was actually dying to go to Kleinfeld's to get my dress with my Mom, but after shopping locally and really not being into the experience I just bought my dress here in Calgary. I did end up going to NY recently but I didnt drop in, again thought I would be too tempted, and I already spent CAD 3K on the first dress - well Mom bought it, but you get what I mean.
  4. Its tough. For us we made the decision to stay at a 'family friendly' resort to accommodate the couples who have kids, but love the set up at an 'adults only resort' better. As a result we have split up the ceremony is at one resort and the ceremony is at the other. We are picking up the USD 100 per guest for their day pass for the ceremony resort as that was our decision, tough decision to make as it will end up costing us USD 5K+ I don’t think I would have paid for a guest pass if it was all in one resort and some guests simply chose to stay else where, then its their decision. Good luck.

Now according to the contract any additional guests for cocktail hour is $ 26 usd + 10 % + 15 % per person which is about $33.00 and for the reception its $ 48 USD + 15 % + 10 % per person which is about $61.00 per person. SO that’s a TOTAL OF $94.00 per person!!! And that doesn't even included the additional bottles of Champagne which is $ 38 usd + 15% service +10% tax per bottle!!! Now am I reading this wrong or is it really $94 a per person for any additional guest over the 20 included?!?! There is such a language barrier, lack of response and I have a hard time getting straight answers. If it is it is, but I just want to try and understand. And I will definitely be negotiating for we have 95 people already booked with another 15-20 still anticipated to book. And wedding is November 13, 2010. ANYONE WHO KNOWS PLEASE JUST LET ME KNOW.......MUCH APPRECIATE!!! :-) we are paying that ball park for our cocktail hour and buffet reception, sorry couldnt be of help and yes there is the added decor, centre peices, signature drinks etc. really I think we hit around USD 200 per guest, but then we will only have 50-60, so yikes. We are flying in November 13, 2010, good luck and see ya there!
  9. As far as nightlife I didnt even bother checking pre-making our decision, in my experience the entertainment at most resorts is just average. Last time my FH and I stayed south of Playa del Carmen and did two nights in Playa partying it up and did a dinner and party boat in Cancun on another night. DRC is way more central, really its not a big deal at all, I still plan to do atleast one night in each (Playa and Cancun with our guests), no resort will be able to match the vibe of going to a hopping bar on the beach, your true partiers will leave the resort regardless, and once you split the cab fare 4 or 5 ways, its only like 5 bucks they wont even blink at that. My two cents.
