  1. hmmmm, just putting it all together and there is a lot, maybe i do need to do a planning thread. anyone know where i'd put it? i can't seem to find the right sub-forum!
  2. i've got a few things, i might do a planning post in this thread rather than a whole 'lou's planning thread' as that seems a bit much! give me 10 to put it together
  3. roo66 (Sorry i don't know your name) that's a cute story and im so pleased you're getting things sorted. we leave the UK in 2 weeks and 4 days and im still about £700 short! gulp! but i'm sure something will work itself out. i might sell a kidney! haha! Josie - chin up on the job front, hopefully something FABULOUS will come along. where are you? Kent? what is it you do? i made my OOT bags last night, anyone wanna see?!

We were so worried that Hurricane Alex was going to hit during our stay that I was just happy to not have completely rainy days. It rained a little (never more than 30 minutes or so during the day) almost everyday, but it never interfered with our plans. It was very hot for our 11 am wedding, & I would say 4pm will be very hot as well. We had ours in a gazebo & I'm very glad we did. First of all it was nice to have shade & secondly, the seaweed was extraordinarily bad last week (I'm guessing from Hurricane Alex). They run the tractors all day to try and clean it, but it was never clean (they did run the tractor across the area of beach we were taking wedding pictures on a few extra times & were able to make the beach look pretty good for our pictures). At night after they stop running the tractors and up through the morning when they start running the tractors again, the smell of the seaweed gets pretty bad. I've been to MP before & the seaweed has never been that bad. Hopefully it will get better in the next couple of weeks. There will definitely be a sea breeze, but it will still be hot for your wedding. I had palm fans on all the chairs to help keep the guests a little cooler. The fans were definitely appreciated. My husband was wearing a seersucker suit & linen shirt (which are both pretty light weight) & he was sweating through the jacket. I was constantly wiping sweat from my brow & my chest. We had a cocktail hour on a terrace behind the gazebo (with umbrellas for shade), and then we moved inside for our reception. The whole thing was amazing & everything was perfect. I'll be writing a review soon & posting pictures, but feel free to post questions & I'll try to answer them. It might be a couple weeks before I get my review up because I still have my AHR to finalize. It's on July 17th. Good luck to all the rest of the July MP brides! Your wedding there will be an amazing experience! Thank you for this, i'm not sure what to do. I don't want everyone sweating to death, but i really want a beach wedding. I think i'll wait until i'm out there and go down to the beach ceremony location at 4pm and see how it is. if it's too hot we'll see if we can change to a gazebo. i'm sure it'll be fine! sounds like you had a great time, what was your dress like? did you have a veil? did you use the hairdressers? there are so many things to think about, but im just mega excited and not stressed at all! i want to be there now!! also, the seaweed doesn't bother me (the smell might though!!!) i quite like the idea of the beach being imperfect!

  6. that's the one! she can't afford Mexico, so she's booked two weeks all inclusive at a 5 star hotel in Dominican Republic.... go figure! haha! Michelle - i know, i think it's quite funny now, i've removed myself a bit so it doesn't hurt as much any more.
  7. awwwww they're gorgeous! i have mine thanks honey but they look so beautiful! what a bargain too!
  8. get em get em! my BM has just booked her holiday to a destination which isn't mexico!!!
  9. what on earth is a hair vine?! the parasols are a cute idea for the little ones, if you can transport them easily, then why not! do it! x
  10. Morning all Thats good advice! the more you do earlier, the less stress you'll have coming up to the day. i started planning in May 2009 and we get married 30th July 2010. there are still things to do (and in a way, being organised so far in advance free's up your time, so you then start thinking of what else you can do! ha ha!) but it's stress free. everything else that's 'left to do' isn't important, it'll be a nice touch, but if it doesn't happen it's no big deal. my WC has been in much more contact now, emails and questions, which is great! i am making luggage tags this week and i'm going to post them the week before the wedding, with just a note saying 'we can't wait to see you in Mexico' and the tag. x
  11. awww glad the fitting went well, shame about the wedding fair, but good on you for holding out until you find something you really love. what are you looking for? x
  12. have you asked if you'll get it refunded once you book with FC?
  13. So glad the party went well! any pics? i am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited! i can't believe it's so soon! ARGHHH!!
  14. Hey all! it's THIS MONTH!!! WAHOOOOOOO! how's everyone doing? x
  15. Fingers crossed it won't effect you at all, i haven't heard that it's reached that part of mexico x
  16. I emailed Marvin from Maya Diseno Floral ([email protected]) and he's been GREAT! he said we won't have problems with delivery (I'm only ordering four button holes and two corsages) as they will say that it was a gift paid for from someone in England and he's delivering them. They can't stop that apparently! so happy! and it's saving me more than 70%!!!
  17. Hi Ladies your help is invaluable! I'm getting married in just over three weeks and im sooooooooo excited! girls - what has the weather out there been like recently? also - does anyone have any idea 'roughly' how hot it would be for a beach ceremony at 4pm? is there a sea breeze? I am just worried about my guests sweating to death!
  18. Morning Ladies did you all have good weekends? How gorgeous was the weather? Sat and Sun morning i got up early, put a bikini on and laid in the garden on my sun lounger! it was heaven! in 3 weeks i'll be doing that EVERY DAY! wahoooooooo! so excited!!! Had a great weekend, had my final big hen night Sat night which was fab, they dressed me as a Mexican riding a Donkey! hahaha! it was great! we played lots of games and got drunk and danced all night! there were 53 of us! so nice! we also made our Aloe Vera bottles for the OOT bags, that wasn't as easy as i thought!!! distilling Aloe Vera was hard work and we were covered! but they came out well! i'll try and post a pic tonight/tomorrow. 19. yeah exactly my thoughts. i've emailed a florist and i'll wait to see what they say. I have a couple of guests staying at other hotels so i will see if they can deliver to them instead and they can bring them with them. i don't need much, but it MUST be cheaper. MP quoted me $30 per buttonhole!! that is ridiculous! i'd rather go and pick my own that morning and pin them on!
  20. i am considering this. i only need four buttonholes and two corsages for our mum's, but MP are quoting a FORTUNE ($30 per buttonhole! that is ridiculous!!) i am not a 'huge' fan of real touch flowers, so i am thinking of a local vendor and sending someone to pick them up. anyone know of a florist NEAR the MP? x
  21. i think you're being silly and you shouldn't worry. have you read all the reveiws on here? who cares about tripadvisor, it's the real brides you need to listen to and i haven't seen ONE bad review! I get married on the beach at the MP four weeks today (YAY!) so when i'm back i'll tell you all about it and give you my honest opinion. but i really think you have nothing to be worried about, it'll be fabulous!! x
  22. Morning all! it's FRIDAY!!!!! YEEEEEEEEEHA! also, four weeks today, i'll be walking down the aisle! WAHOO! very happy/excited today!! My mum woke up this morn with a gutt feeling... went to the travel agent tonight after work and booked... YIPEE, they finally booked, My dad can give me away after all.... Im so so so happy.... My mum and dad will be at our wedding!!!!!!!!! My mum said she just woke up today and thought i cant miss my daughters wedding, and that was it!!! ARGH!!!!!!! As you can probably guess im so excited xoxo that's WONDERFUL news! i bet you're over the moon! YAY! Nicy....Thats fantastic news about your Mum and Dad so pleased for you it must be sooo exciting when people start booking up, carnt wait for that. I went in to first choice yesterday to find out when we can book for November 2011 and the TA said it looks to be like late November 2010, this only gives us less than a year to book and pay for everything as they like the full balance 6-8 weeks before departure which doesnt seem very long so i am getting a bit worried now and also that we wont be able to get the date we want, i feel like i have hit a brick wall and carnt see what i can get done before we can book. Vicki x Where are you getting married? have you thought about emailing the hotel wedding planners direct and asking them? you could book the date in and start saving now, putting money away from now. then when you book with your TA your flights/hotel you'll already be ahead on planning. I booked mine in June 2009 for a July 2010 wedding and to be honest, it was PLENTY of time! don't threat about the planning, just start saving (we didn't do that, paying for it now! doh!) Im wondering about ikea? i've just been having a pm convo with MrsCtobe about this very subject. it's proving a pain. i bought a 'sealable' bottle from ebay, but they cancelled the order because the product is out of stock. so i'm looking again today. i refuse to pay so much postage from the US! i'll let you know what i find x
