  1. Punta Cana sounds awesome! Congrats, and happy planning!
  2. Thank you guys, all your advice has really helped!! I sometimes worry too much about how good of a time our guests will have - but at some point, I just have to leave it up to them to have fun for themselves.
  3. Congrats and happy planning! I am getting married in Tulum next December!
  4. Hi and welcome! this place has helped me so much. Congrats on your upcoming wedding!
  5. Thank you everyone for your encouragement. This forum has been extremely helpful!!
  6. Hi ladies, I just wanted to share a concern, even though it's probably silly. I'm a little worried at how remote and far away from everything this resort is. i know most people do the swimming/laying around/water sports thing here, but there are a few people in my group (my mom) who may get bored of that after a day or two. she'll want to go shopping, etc. i know playa del carmen has great nightlife, golf, shopping, etc. would i just plan day trips for people to go there? how have others handled this and is it inconvenient? sorry again if this is a silly concern, but just wanted to get feedback from others...
  7. i feel the same way. i'm stalling on a photographer because i'm nervous about the deposit!

Like you, I am planning WAY ahead...I already have ideas of most everything I need/want. I know it's still early, but the sooner I do/think about now, the less stress it will be later! (At least that's the hope.)
  9. Hi everyone: Just wanted to share a potential money-saver tip with you all. I am having about 40 guests at DT in December. We are getting the silver package, and dessert is included. Though I want cake as well, I didn't want to pay for cake for 20 extra people (the first 20 is included in the Dreams package), because I know they all won't eat it (having just eaten dessert). So I emailed Aurora and asked her if it'd be OK to not pay any extra for cake; and just get the original cake for 20 people included in the package. She said that was OK. The savings aren't that huge (about $100) but it is something, and more importantly, all that extra food won't go to waste.
  10. Not doing a site visit, either. Hey RR, i was actually planning on doing the same things as you - catholic ceremony in a church and then staying at/doing the reception at gran porto. i ultimately decided on dreams tulum, partly because they do have a chapel on resort grounds. has it been difficult making reservations at the church on fifth ave? i've heard response time is not great, esp. if you don't speak spanish.

I've seen a lot of posts about this from 1-2 years ago, but in the wedding guide it doesn't say anything about this. Also, in the wedding guide, it says for Dreams Ultimate or Dreams of Love, there is a honeymoon package - what is that? Sorry for the questions, but I've tried emailing Aurora twice in the last 3 weeks, and she hasn't responded. Thanks for your help! Hi Krista: I think they only do room upgrades if they are available. Also, I believe the honeymoon package is like turndown service: fruit basket, champagne and rose petals in your room.
  12. Hi ladies! I am confirmed for Dec. 4, 2010!!! I am so excited!! I have a bunch of questions and I am going to just throw them out there. Thank you in advance for your help!! 1. For a religious ceremony (not civil), how many days do we need to be down there prior to the wedding day? 2. Has anyone on here gotten married in the chapel? I know it's small, but how many people were you able to fit comfortably and did you enjoy the chapel? 3. Does Dreams Tulum handle finding the Catholic priest for our ceremony? Will he speak in English? 4. What specific decorations are included in that package for the reception (white linens, bows on the chair, etc.?) 5. If there are other weddings on my day, do I have to reserve the reception spot I want in advance? 6. Is early December a slow time at the resort? I’ve heard some restaurants/bars are closed in slow times. Anyone have this experience? 7. What time do the bars/restaurants at DT close? 8. If the reception ends around 10 or so, any suggestions for post-party? Thanks ladies. I really appreciate al your help.

I think it's because we're newer. Once you accumulate a certain amount of points, or posts, then you get access to other links, documents, etc. Strange, huh? I guess it's to encourage people to continue posting. I think I have to post 150 times before I can download documents. That means I hae like 147 more posts to go.....
  14. Congrats, Tisha! I just sent in my info to reserve on Dec. 4, 2010.... Far away, I know, but I can't wait! I am so glad I found this forum....!!
  15. THanks! I think I am going with Dreams Tulum....let me know if you've heard anything about that. Thanks.
  16. Hi you guys....i had posted earlier about looking into gran caribe. I actually think I have changed my mind about the chapel, based in part on the comments here. I am sorry it's been so much trouble to get answers!! it shouldn't be that hard. still trying to figure out another place with a catholic chapel....
  17. Help! Am looking for an all-inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya that's family-friendly and has a Catholic chapel on the grounds. Any ideas?? I've heard Grand Pallidium and Moon Palace, but can't find pics of their chapels on the sites. Am I missing anything? Has anyone gotten married at either of these places?? THANKS!!
  18. Yes, if anyone knows of any other ideas for a Catholic ceremony in Riv. Maya, that'd really be my first choice. It has to be all-inclusive, family-friendly and have a Catholic chapel on the grounds. AND be willing to combine the Civil and religious ceremonies at the same time (or at least do one right after the other.) I'm thinking Moon Palace and Grand Pallidium...do any other all-inclusives have Catholic chapels THANKS YOU GUYS!!!!
  19. Anyone gotten married here? The Catholic waterfront Chapel looks AMAZING!!! I'm not crazy about getting married in Cancun, but this may just be the decision-maker!
  20. trying to revive what appears to be an old post...i need info on this! hoping to get married there in the new waterfront chapel, in late 2010!
  21. I am looking to do this! It is beautiful!! I haven't booked yet, but have the same question. I've looked EVERYWHERE and can't find anything like it. I may have to suck it up and have my wedding in Cancun, even though it's not my first choice, just BECAUSE of this chapel!
  22. Hi everyone! I got engaged in late August, and am just starting to plan for my wedding. We're hoping to having it in Cancun or Playa del Carmen, in late 2010. (Probably early Dec.) We're both from the Chicago area. My fiance wants a Catholic ceremony AND for it to be legal, as well. (Picky, picky .. I am much more laid-back!.. Ha.) So this will result in some complications. We are leaning toward Cancun at the moment, because I found this awesome Catholic waterfront chapel at Real Gran Caribe... there is absolutely nothing else like it. However, I'm not crazy about getting married in Cancun... I'd prefer Riv. Maya. I may just have to get over it. Secondly, we are looking to combine both the civil AND religious ceremony into one, knowing we'll have to pay a bit more for a judge. I'd prefer to get married in the States beforehand, but he wants it to be real and authentic. Anyway, any advice or tips, feel free to share! Thanks, Amy
