  1. i am planning on getting married first in the U.s. i jsut think it'll be much easier that way. and way way cheaper
  2. I went through this exact same search a few months ago - i Looked everywhere. i settled on dreams tulum and am going through the pre-cana process right now. I loved Gran Caribe's glass chapel, though, that is far and away the most beautiful site. I just wasn't as crazy about getting married in Cancun or the actual resort itself, which is why I ultimately chose Dreams Tulum. Plus, the Gran Caribe people were not very responsive in terms of answering questions, etc.

A basic wedding here is anywhere between 10-20 grand, not including a honeymoon. A photography package alone costs more than what my DW is going to cost, plus you get a honeymoon out of it! and you get to get married in one of the most beautiful places on earth! Everytime I start to get stressed, I try to stop, breath, and imagine myself on the beach in my wedding dress and I get so pumped, nothing else matters at that point! Get pumped girl!!! Awesome. Love the dancing figures!!!

I wrote Aurora again, with some other questions- I'll post what she says. xo I am feeling that way too......hang in there. It'll work out - tons of brides here write really positive reviews about how everything turned out, so I don't think everyone's getting screwed over money-wise, or someone would have mentioned it, right?
  5. OK now I'm even more confused. What is going on?? I asked Aurora about this yesterday (I asked her about the free package and paying for the $750 private reception fee and then $20 per person for ordering off Seaside Grill menu) and she got back to me today and she said: "If you get the Wedding In Paradise is necessary to pay $750 usd+tax for private event and $35 usd+tax+service for set menu Seaside Grill subject availability and is possible to get it if you have 40 or more people. Remember that this package includes only the basic and you have to pay additional fee for the canopy, cocktail hour, pictures etc." So does this mean Seaside Grll is only available if I have more than 40 people? This is the first time I'm hearing anything about $35...... But yes, it definitely sounds like they just want me to get the package. ON the other hand, it is awesome that it sounds like i don't have to pay for the $800 dance floor fee.
  6. it almost makes more sense to just pick the package, then, if they are going to make us choose from the silver or gold dinners anyway, then. also - does anyone know what the $800 dance floor fee is for?? If i am getting one of the dreams of love package, but i also want dancing at my reception, do i have to pay for that?
  7. Hey Cheri, I feel you. I am trying to go over the whole budget thing, too. Do you have any paperwork or printed emails that you could bring with you on your trip? That way you could show the wedding coordinator that you were already expecting to pay for one thing, and it's not fair to change it.... Just an idea.
  8. Ugh, I agree with the $20 thing..I am going to ask about it right now. That seemed like a much better deal .

Hi tkolman! I have a quick question about your review, which was awesome and so helpful, by the way. How was alcohol handled during dinner? There aren't any extra costs for that over and above the $20 per person, correct? Did they serve it, or did guests go to the bar and get their own? Also, because you had the DJ, did DT charge you the dance floor fee of like $800 (Or whatever it is?) Thanks!!!
  10. This review was AWESOME!!!! Thank you so much for sharing - you included SO MUCH helpful info. And congrats on a beautiful wedding!!!!

  13. good luck in planning! the hardest part is figuring out the location and resort. once that's done, you can relax! (for the most part). i am getting married at dreams tulum (riviera maya) in december 2010.

I can't wait to get to know all of you! Hi Dannah! I'm in the same boat as you - getting married in the chapel, with Aurora as my planner. Though I'm getting married Dec. 4, 2010. I've heard the chapel can get quite hot in the summer months, as there is no AC - not sure what the weather's like in April. And it can't fit that many people. There's seating for 20; (10 on each side) and anyone over that will have to stand in the back.
  16. I just booked Claudia Rodriguez for photography and am soooo excited! Sweet; I have the date, place, resort, and photographer all secured!!! Now, I can just lay back and do nothing for the next few months. I have to say those decisions were by far the most difficult and stressful...should be smooth sailing from here on out...right?!
  17. riviera maya has the best beaches, from what i've heard....plus it's cheaper and more accessible (well, depending on where you're from) than, say, cabo...
  18. Congrats, and welcome to the forum. It is awesome in terms of helping to plan!
