Wow that is going to be amazing cruise!!!! Where do you leave from and how long is it? I just read that the weather forecasters are expecting an above average storm season in 2010. i am trying not to worry about my august wedding. if i let myself get preoccupied with weather it will only add to my other wedding planning stress. please send good luck vibes my way ladies!

i thought about getting a casita for our wedding night and the night after but i think we're going to stick with the normal room. we got a room upgrade from the jacuzzi jr suite b/c we participated in the lomas travel conference call. i definitely thought long and hard about the casita but we are going to paris for our honeymoon so felt that we'd make up for it there. :-) i'm sure your casita will be amazing!

Hi Laur13 - I also hired DJ Doremixx for the reception. I plan to work with him when we get a bit closer to develop the playlist. For the ceremony we will just have a processional song for the bridal party and my entrance and a recessional song. The great think about DJ Mannia and Doremixx is that they work with you to make sure what's played fits the tastes of you and your guests...which is awesome!

hi sara! congrats! a may wedding will be lovely. :-) here is our schedule (our wedding date is august 7th): ceremony: 6pm post ceremony cocktail hour: 645pm - 745pm reception: 8pm - 11pm we are doing all private events. we're having a welcome cocktail party with dessert, a rehearsal dinner at la isla and the reception in the salon with the mexican BBQ. we have 70 guests coming so thought private would be best so we could have our own space. i've heard amazing things about tucanes. we are having the welcome party there. i was considering tucanes for the reception but we have too many people. i think it can accommodate up to 50 folks so as long as you're under that number you should be fine to have your reception there. are you thinking of using el cocotal for your rehearsal dinner? planning with valeria has been great. we mostly communicate via email and she's very responsive. managing a grp of our size can be interesting and i appreciate that she's helped to make it easier for me.

ashscho - WELCOME TO THE EDR THREAD! i can only imagine all the details floating around your head since your wedding is 3 months away. i don't know much about the chapel b/c we chose gazebo 55, but i've been very happy with valeria (coordinator) so far and i'm sure she'll make things much easier for you. also ladies she just got back to me RE: liquor. looks like you can gave grey goose and bombay sapphire added to your private events at no charge. they also serve top shelf at all of the bars and restaurants. you just have to request it as they make the drinks.

In the new ones, the sink/counter face towards the room with the shower and toilet behind you. Little bit nicer if you ask me, but both are more than adequate! Hope that helps! We can't wait to get back there again soon for our 4th time! that's awesome! i'm glad to hear that whether old or new, the bathrooms are nice.

Rhonda's El Dorado Royale Review (Wedding 5.02.09)
BagLover21 replied to Rhonda's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Rhonda, Absolutely AWESOME review. I'm getting married at EDR on 8/7/10 so this was incredibly helpful. I know this is probably an odd request, but how were the bathrooms? I know you stayed in the Casitas but did you see the bathrooms in the Jr Jacuzzi suite? Did your guests say they were nice? I just think bathrooms are important so want to make sure my guests will be happy! -
Laur13 - I currently don't have table decorations for the Rehearsal Dinner. I may or may not add them. I am doing a lot for the reception (centerpieces, vases, 4 votive candles per table, tiffany chairs) so was thinking that low key for RD would work. My guests will go up and get their own food for the Mexican BBQ like dimplz said. I thought it would be cool to have it as our meal since it's so popular.

i just sent a note to valeria about it. i guess i'm not surprised b/c at an all inclusive place they rarely have top top shelf. i will definitely let you know what she says. does anyone know whether the symbolic ceremony is performed in english or spanish? i would of course prefer english. i think it could start to get laborious if there has to be a translater.

kathrat - i am biting the bullet and just paying for the bouquets. i'm using them for the centerpieces at the reception so it made me feel a bit better. getting in contact with valeria has been a bit more difficult lately but i think it's because she's managing a lot of us! she just responded this morning with answers to my questions so i think she's working her way down her to do list. :-)
