  1. Happy Anniversary SunBride! I was wondering if anyone used the resort's DJ services and thoughts about that. I don't know whether to hire an outside DJ or not... Thanks Girlies!
  2. Yay for October Brides! I love it! I know it seems far away, but it will be here before you know it!
  3. cyntherella your wedding was beautiful! LOVE the colors! I am doing yellows and blues so your pictures offered some great inspiration! Thanks for sharing- you make a beautiful bride!
  4. Sorry Mccrary, I haven't been on here in awhile! We are arriving on the 5th and leaving on the 15th so if your date ends up falling in that time frame I'd love to meet you! My photographer will only be at the resort on the 9th & 10th unless someone else books her. I wanted our 10/09 wedding to be at 4pm, but only the 2pm was available. After reading these posts I think the 2pm is best because it give you plenty of time if anything is running late and you have time to take your pictures at sunset. We are going to have a cocktail hour and reception following, but I'm sure it will be perfect timing because people will mingle. Also, that way guests can go freshen up before dinner (after the cocktail party) if they want.
  6. I like the navy option but both are gorgeous! My fiance is Swedish so we are doing various shades of blues and yellows. I haven't decided which color to use for BM dress though. I was going to go with yellow, but all of my BM are blonde and I'm worried the color will wash them out. Any thoughts?
  7. About the invites, I am printing the envelopes. It's easy and it turns out nice. I don't care about having it hand written. I will probably use a scriptina font (the font in my monogram) or something close to it. I will def hand write my thank you notes though. As far as RSVP, I am going to rely on my TA for the most accurate number. Between people booking their rooms through her, the wedding website and invitations I think we'll have an almost perfect head count. I am really encouraging my guests to book their rooms through my TA because she got us the best rates AND that way I know who is committed to going and who isn't. To book a room through the TA requires a deposit and people tend to be serious about going if they put $ toward travel. Hopes this helps! I have to say I wouldn't be half as organized if it weren't for my TA. She is amazing!
  8. Thanks for the heads up Lori! I am waiting on our room contract before listing the pricing. I haven't sent out our STDs yet because I have to add that part. I just got it all ready to go- lol. I'm interested to know the pricing differences too! For 4 nights our guests will pay between $416-$600 per person depending on the room they choose. From what my travel agent says we are getting great incentives too like a free welcome dinner and our room for free! One thing I noticed was that you mentioned the great rates you were able to secure but I didn't see the rate actually posted anywhere. So just a heads up. I was mostly just curious what the rates were for the same month compared to Dreams Cabo. Wasn't stalking you or anything!
  9. Just got our save the dates in the mail. I LOVE them! So exciting! I definitely recommend Save the Date Magnets, Wedding Announcements, Custom Wedding Invitations and Baby Announcements - Pioneer Color. They did a great job. We ordered the magnets - 50 for $75!
  10. I completely agree. Picking the resort was the hardest part. At times I wanted to cry. There are so many amazing options. When I finally booked I felt a weigh lift off my shoulders. I am very confident in my choice too. Good luck hon! Quote: Originally Posted by Danyelle Not yet. 11. I booked my session today. I decided to try and do it at the resort and on the beach Sport Illustrated style with my wedding photographer. I will just assign a friend to keep the groom occupied. I won't be able to give him the book at the wedding, but I plan on getting a large print to hang in his closet to surprise him.
  12. In the most recent Martha Stewart Wedding Magazine (Destination wedding edition) there are some great ideas for helping your guests get to know one another. One suggestion is to give them these cute little buttons when they check in. The buttons say F.O.B. or F.O.G. (Friend of Bride/Groom) so they can see and talk to other people at the resort that are your guests.
  13. Yay! Love it. Have you picked a resort? Quote: Originally Posted by Danyelle I think we've (finally) decided on 10/9/10 in Riviera Maya!! Glad to see some date twins! Darn Kace, I wish I could share that photog but our dates are the same.
  14. Hi Ladies! Any brides in the Riviera Maya on 10/10/10? I have a great photographer I am flying down for my wedding on 10/09/10- just thought I would let you know in case you are searching for a photographer! You can see her work through the website in my signature. 1 year to go!!!
  15. My fiance really wanted to do a site visit. I told him that I didn't want to go to the same place twice. I wanted to get married somewhere where I'd never been before. Makes it very exciting. I relied on the forum, the internet, reviews and my TA to choose the right place. I am confident in the resort.

  17. Any other brides out there getting married at DT on October 8,9 or 10th? I want to know so we can work and plan together!
  18. Yay for October 2010 brides! I love it! We are getting married 10/09/10 at Dreams Tulum. I hoping to find some other brides that will there for that weekend. So far I have booked the resort and started the wedding website. We are having a photo shoot at the end of the month for pictures to include with our save the dates. I am hoping to send them out no later than end of November. Congrats to all of you ladies~ one year and counting!
  19. WHAT AN AWESOME IDEA!!! I didn't realize you could do that. Quote: Originally Posted by SunBride If I were you, I would cut back by going with the regular restaurant menu, rather than the silver or gold menu, that way you only pay 20$ per guest.
  20. Yeah I've heard good and bad about Sensatori. Everyone seems to love Beaches though. I was really debating on booking an AZUL resort but I finally decided to book with Dreams instead. 21. It's official! I'm a Dreams Tulum bride!!! YAY! October 9, 2010 at 2 PM. I am so excited to join this group. You all have such great input and the weddings turn out beautifully!!!
  22. I inquired about the resort's availability & I heard back from the Azul Wedding planners. I asked about Azul Fives and she told me they are not accepting reservations at this time. I don't think they have a definite opening plan with economy being the way it is. I do know that Azul is willing to match/beat any other prices or deals out there. They really want the business. Quote: Originally Posted by Jenna20 Curious to know if anyone has their wedding booked at Azul Fives, from what I have read they do not sound as though they are opening until 2010? 23. I would take money away from your flowers and/or decorations. Flowers are sooo expensive. I am thinking about taking my own silk flowers because of the bouquet costs. You can also take your own table linen, chair decorations etc. Those are my thoughts for keeping the costs down I have a question about costs too. Has anyone talked to their WC about negotiating prices/haggling? I ask because we want to book the ultimate package but we aren't having a legal ceremony so I want to replace those costs with a few upgrades. I want to haggle my way through all the costs! hehehehe.... If anyone has had an experience with this I would love to hear it! Quote: Originally Posted by Tisha316 Girls...i need some help!! We might want to include that in some of our reception entertainment...any suggestions, thoughts or rebuttles? Thanks ladies...this has been so helpful!!
