Hi Heather, Yes the cost structure can be really frustrating at times. Mainly with reception costs, and adding on people after the initial package, and knowing this far in advance how many are coming! El Dorado Royal would be my choice of the two! Good Luck!

Welcome and Congrats! We've got several of the same requirements and after much deliberation we chose Dreams Riviera Cancun on 11/27/2010, mainly because we didn't want a super huge resort. But there are a lot of other good resorts in the Riviera Maya that will suite your needs as well. GOOD LUCK!

Welcome to the forum! Making the decision on the resort is a time consuming but fun process. Figure out your list of must haves and that will help you widdle the list. The first divider is Adults Only, allows Children, or Children friendly. Size of resort, price, beach wait staff service, sites for weddings, type of beach, how many weddings they have a day, cost of receptions, are all things that weighed in on my decision. GOOD LUCK!
