Excellence Punta Cana Resort and Spa I went to Tripadvisor.com and got a lot of great reviews. Some aren't so good, but most are Wonderful. I think some people just can't be pleased. Lori Thank you! If you are trying to keep travel costs low you want to look at AI resorts in the Dominican Republic, Yucatan Peninsula, and Jamaica. They will be the least expensive and the easiest to get to from NY. You should look at resorts that offer free wedding packages so there is no cost there and ones that offer free semi-private reception dinners such as Riu Resorts. Then check out the DIY section and see if you think any of those things are doable for you because that is a great way to keep costs down but still appear to have a very elaborate wedding. Thanks, you provided me with some good ideas! Quote: Originally Posted by hunniebee724 We're doing a cruise wedding. Our wedding package is about $2200 which includes tax, ceremony and open bar/buffet reception for 1 hour for up to 20 people and photographer. Each additional person we add is $22 per person but that gets paid a few weeks before the cruise. Picture packages are also additional, up to $3,000. Our cruise starts at $859 per person plus tax, so for our room and the ceremony/reception, it will be less than $5,000. We decided on a cruise rather than an AI resort because we have 3 teenage brothers between us, and there will be more for them to do on a cruise. My husband and I love cruises. This is a great idea! My wedding is $6000 at a non resort in Akumal for 35 people, welcome dinner is included along w/ all wedding stuff in that $6000. I think you should first determine your budget, then talk to one of our ta's and find out where you can go w/ that money. the travel agents on here do DW so they are better choice to talk to. then you can determine if AI is what you want, or private non resort. Do you want beach, do you want jungle, do you want gazebo. make of list of things you'd like and go from there. our ta's can find a place that has the things you want around your budget. I will pay for their accomodations, but the airfare is up to them. We would like something with the beach in the background under a gazebo. Thank you so much sweetie!

I've seen everything in it from 3K to 30K, and truth be told? It's not always obvious where the difference is by the list of things that were paid for. Some people just spend more/less on things that have both expensive AND inexpensive options. I've seen wedding albums where the total was fairly "low cost" that looked like the wedding was every bit as nice/elaborate as the expensive ones! I have no idea how it happens:) Oh! I see MegaShay found the thread I was thinking of--that may be helpful to you. There are individual threads in each forum by destination. For the Riviera Maya, for Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, etc. Once you nail down just what part of the Caribbean you want to be in, you can go into that forum and look around at the accomodations others have gathered info on. Welcome aboard! Thanks hon! BTW, your kids are tooooooooooooo adorable!!!

  5. Hey, I'm from Queens too! I do not think you are being selfish. Give it some time and talk to him again and state how you feel calmy and politely. I am sure he will see your point and it will all work out.
  6. Hello! I searched the entire site and cannot find a thread pertaining to the total co$t of a DW. Can you please give me an idea on how much this sort of wedding costs? I know a DW could cost anywhere from $1,000 - $1,000,000+ and that a nice wedding (is relative) varies from couple to couple, but I don't know where to look. Also, is there a list of all-inclusive resorts? I want the guests only to pay for airfare. Thank you and I apologize in advance if this thread has been done 50-11 times. ETA: DH and I want to come up with a budget tonight and I have an idea of what it will cost but want more information first in case we need to adjust it.

I hope DH likes it as well, since I want to make sure he loves it too.

  9. OMG, I saw this dress on the Internet!!! It's the dress I chose!!! This dress is just perfect for the beach.
  10. I wonder why some brides are trying to reinstate slavery. I know it is an emotional time and they want everything to be just perfect (I know I do), but treating people like crap ain't cute or necessary. I would like to give your friend the benefit of the doubt that she doesn't know any better, but with all the examples you listed, I really can't see how that can possibly be. (((( HUGS )))))

At least you have an idea of the country you want to be. I don't yet. This board is awesome and the posters are very sweet. Look in the Review section for ideas. Do you know any brides IRL that did a destination wedding? Talk to them as well. Good luck!!!

  13. Awww....... I am sorry sweetie and NO you are NOT stupid. I know it sounds cliche, but stuff happens. I know that you had a high monetary of what was taken from you, but I am happy you weren't taken. Except for your precious photo it can all be replaced. Is there anything that any of us can do to help? ((( HUGS )))
  14. I don't even know where I am getting married, LOL. My BFF wants to do a salamander/burnt orange color. I love pink, but it can be pretty sketchy with that color. I don't want a Pepto-Bismal theme.
  15. I am going to subscribe to this thread!!!!!!!!!! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Did I miss anything? Gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure Royal Caribbean would be great... especially considering the name!! I've honestly never been on a cruise! Cruising is so much fun! We went on Explorer of the Seas for 9 nights to Saint Maarten, Bermuda, St. Thomas and San Juan. The ship is like an entire neighborhood on water. You can eat all night long!! The drinks are awesome (as per what my husband told me, I don't like alcohol) but can add up, so be mindful sweetie. Yeah, California is pretty far because most cruises dock on the east coast. Nonetheless, I am happy you found something. DH, told me anywhere in the Caribbean is fine. LOL!
