Question - Cecilia sent me the payment options document. It says you can either pay with certified check or wire transfer. Does wire transfer mean sending them your credit card information? How did you all make your deposit payment? The only option i got for payment of my deposit was CC. Claudia sent me a form asking for all of my credit card information and a copy of my id and i sent it back to my travel agent who sent it to her. While this doesn't seem the safest.. it was very easy. There have been brides on here that have nothing but issues with the wire transfers, it is possible that they have made the process easier since then but who knows. I am hoping to pay the final payment at the resort on CC as well, i will indeed have to call my credit card company first so they are aware of the transaction but hopefully it wont be a problem, i am certainly not taking that much cash. I have not heard anything about paying 50% before the wedding, as far as i know all i have to pay is the deposit now, and then the remainder at the resort. Has anyone else heard anything about this??

I was asked to sign my contract and once changes are made i will sign it, you can still make any changes you want after you have signed it, i was told it just saves your date. There have been other brides who have had their date or time changed on them, if you have a contract signed saying your date and time they cant move you!!

I'll see if i can find the breakdown, its in this thread somewhere, It was something like $25per person extra for cocktail hour and 65? extra for dinner. I am not sure exactly on the numbers but it was quite rediculous. If you opt to not have the cocktail hour then your per person charge is less for the extra people because you only have to pay the extra for dinner.

Thanks for your help =) I received my contract form Claudia a few days ago, and my wedding is not until August, with a request to sign it and send a $500 deposit. I did not sign the contract as there are several things on the contract i wanted to change or choose and said that i will sign it when it is changeed. As far as number of guests I am not sure when you need to commit by. As far as i understand you can make as many changes to your contract as you want even when you get to your meeting with the WC when you arrive at the resort.

I know we would rent the sound equiment for the reception for music, but I hadn't thought about for the ceremony. Is it possible to do the ceremony on the beach, but literally on the beach not in the gazebo thing they talk about? My other question is people, all the packages say 20 people, I'm wondering if we can have more at a per person charge. thanks again! Sound system for the ceremony is very important as it can be very windy at dreams and no one will be able to hear you ceremony. It really should be part of the wedding package. I believe its $180 for the ceremony. Depending on how big your group is, some ladies (myself included) are opting to an ipod and speakers for the receptions instead of hiring a DJ. Or you can again rent the sound system for i believe 180/hr for your reception and it comes with a guy to run your ipod or you can hire a dj, i believe the approved DJ for the resort is DJMannia. It is possible to do the ceremony on the beach, there are some pictures on the website of some beach setups that are really nice. We have chosen the gazebo because it is gorgeous! I fell in love instantly. Packages do come with 20pp but you can pay a per person charge for every extra person you have, the last i heard.. its about $98 a person (I may be wrong). The other thing to think about is that if you choose not to have a cocktail hour, many ladies have traded it for extra people at their reception (it think 10 extra). We are not using the cocktail hour because we want pictures with everyone coming (only 12 of us) so we are using ti as a welcome cocktail hour on the day after we arrive. Lots fo things to think about!

I would love any information ( I have read through some of these posts) that you would like to offer. I'm somehwat concerned about price- all the "extra"s are alot, but I think some are included in the package? Has the photography over there? I am very excited about Dreams Canucn, everything that i have heard about it is amazing. There is alot included in the packages which makes them really nice. We are going with the ultimate package as it includes quite a bit, photography, videography, massages, mexican trio etc. and it is not that much more than the other package. There a lot of extras available, and depending on your group size some of them are important. We are getting the sound system for the ceremony (otherwise no one will hear you or the officiant in the wind) but we are not doing any extra decorations, or music or anything. We are going with the resort photographer, included in the package. I have heard good things about him and seen some good pictures. that being said, if photography is very important to you and you have the budget, alot of the ladies on here have hired claudia rodriguez (sp?) and have been very pleased. Do you have any specific questions about the resort that we can answer for you?? There is alot of information in this thread, i know it is super long but it is deffinatley worth a read if you have the time! It took me a while but i am very glad i read every post in the thread, so many ideas and answers to questions i wouldn't even of thought of. Anyways, let me know if there is any questions i can answer for you!!

OOT bags ate "out of town" bags. The are kind of a tradition with destination weddings. They may be used in stead of traditional wedding favors or on top of. Usually they are beach bags and then you add stuff in them for your guests and hand them out as the guests arrive. Things such as a welcome letter to your guests, travel stuff such as tylenol, immodium, sunscreen etc, many put spanish for dummies books, or fun spanish phrase books in them, and anything else fun you want to give your guests. Sometime mugs to keep drinks cold though the consensus about dreams cancun is that they provide big enough cups already so mugs would just be another thing to lug around... there is a section on the main page for OOT bags and people have listed the things that they have put in them and what worked and what didn't. You should deffinatley check out that thread!! I am probly missing some of the best things to put in them.

Congrats and Welcome to the forum!! I am also a dreams cancun bride though not until august 2010. You should check out the dreams cancun thread, sorry i have no idea how to link to it. I believe it is called dreams cancun questions for those married there. It has tons of info!!!! The photographer for the ultimate package is Juan Navarro and his website is juanphotos.com i believe. From the reviews i have read there have been alot of good review and some bad reviews for the spa as far as hair and makeup, the thing to keep in mind seems to be that the stylists do not speak engligh very well if at all so deffinatley bring pictures of what you would like done. If you have any more questions let me know!

When is your wedding date? We'll probably get to know each other on here pretty well over the next year or so It seems like a great place to get some of your questions answered and to get ideas Anyway, another couple questions to anybody who can answer them for me....we want to get married on Oct 10, 2010---but that seems to be a Sunday. Does anyone know if they perform ceremonies on Sundays? If they do, is anything open...bars, etc...? Also, are most people getting legally married before they actually go away? Is it a requirement? Why?? Thanks all and Congratulations to everyone!!!! My wedding date is on August 10th, 2010. I am super excited even though its so far away. We too are getting legally married here before leaving as FI is not a needle person (by any scope of the imangination) and I'm pretty sure he would totally chicken out, and it saves alot of paperwork and translating. You can't get married at city hall in Calgary as you can in many other cities though, you have to choose a justice of the peace and have a small ceremony with, usually in their home as far as I know. It seems like it will be a fairly smooth process so we are deffinatley going that route. If you do have a legal ceremony in mexico then you can't have it on a Sunday but if you get maried first you can do it any day of the week! Ours is going to be on a tuesday night. If you have the time, I know it takes forever as i did it, there is some great info in this thread if you read all 340 pages.... That being said if you have any specific questions I am happy to help you with anything. I'd love to hear some details if you have made any decisions yet such as colors or ceremony/reception locations etc. Congrats Again!

Welcome Medal101010, its nice to have another Calgarian on here! I deffinatley agree that a travel agent is the way to go to get some good pricing. If it helps you a little, the quote that I receved from calgary at the beginning of August 2010 was $1908 a person for flight, hotel and transfers. These rates are through Air Canada Vacations and include an early booking bonus of $460/person. This quote did not become available until the beginning of september so it might be a little while to get october pricing is out but it is deffinatley worth keeping your eyes open for the early booking bonuses, deffinatley made this trip more affordable for our guests. You may be able to get a better gorup rate than i did as i only have 15 people but i am not sure. Dreams Cancun is an amzing resort and I cant wait to be married there. Let me know if I can help you with anything!
