Wow thanks so much for all the input! I could go the STD route now and invites later or invites at the end of the summer like KimmyG said and a reminder as it gets closer.... all great ideas. I have another issue..... I KNOW that a small group of people will be attending, but my fiance has a HUGE family. We were going to invite EVERYONE to the destination wedding but now my mom is saying to invite it to the family we are closest to and see and who 'may' consider going. But this may cause an uproar...i don't know! I guess its a personal decision but I didn't know if anyone else ran into this kind of issue. Like I'm thinking why send out over 150 invites to invite 300 people when maybe 30 people may actually come. Then...send out the invites to everyone for the reception at home. I just don't know!

I just confirmed my wedding at the Iberostar Maya for July 2010. Many people in my fiance's family think I should send out the wedding invites at the end of this summer so everyone who wants to make the trip can start planning ahead. I want to know how early did everyone send invites? If I do invites that early I don't think STD's are necessary. Or do I do STD's first? Everyone's already debating this so I want to figure out how everyone else did it. I love the boarding pass invites. I am wondering how much people have spent for these? So many things to figure out! I have so much time but I want to do things 'right'!

I am offically an iberostar bride!!!!!!!! Our wedding is july 9th, 2010 at the paraiso maya!!! Let the planning begin!

oh wow! great news! I am going to the travel agent today I hope to fax my info and request my date for July 2010 for the Maya!!!

HI! I just got back from the Riu Palace Riviera maya. It was gorgeous. I am thinking of chosing the Iberostar paraiso for my wedding. The Riu is my second choice, but i want you to know that the main reason for that is that the Riu was a bit more relaxed and quiet. My fiance has siblings who are teenagers, and I want them to be able to be involved in the activities that the Iberostar has. I've stayed at Iberostar Paraiso beach, and it was a little more active than the Riu. More pool games, activities, more participation at the night shows, etc. The Riu's packages are cheaper though...and I will tell you that I saw 3 weddings there and they were great. I totally would go back there in a heartbeat, and if the Iberostar falls through, I will be going back to RPRM!

I am planning my wedding for July 2010, and my first choice as of now is the Maya. I have not yet faxed my information to see if the date I've chosen will be 'mine'. I have been trying to read reviews, and it seems like the Iberostar's prices are very high. I have stayed at the Paraiso beach right next door, and I liked it a lot. I'm not concerned about the resort, but I just don't want unexpected financial surprises when I get there..... Now that I'm looking into all this, I'm getting a little worried. My second choice is the Riu palace mayan riviera. I just got engaged there 2 weeks ago. I loved it there, but it was smaller and more quiet, which is not a bad thing! so that is my second choice! i am anxious to see how the brides whose weddings are coming up at the Lindo/Maya go!

HI! I have stayed at the Paraiso beach and it was great. I was there in 2006 so it was a few years ago. I just got engaged and I'm thinking of choosing the Paraiso Maya for my wedding. I'm trying to figure everything out and I'm a little confused myself! I need to fax a bunch of stuff to the wedding coordinator before I find out if the date I want is 'mine'. I think I have a lot to learn about planning a destination wedding!

Thanks so much everyone!!! The date in mind right now is the first week of July in 2010! To 'shellk'- The Riu PRM is awesome. The lobby area is gorgeous. The resort is clean- the food is fantastic. I saw 2 beach weddings and a gazebo wedding,and they were great! We had no problems there. I am thinking of the IBerostar instead of the Riu because my fiance's brother and sister are teenagers and I think there are more activities and things to do there for kids. I am a little torn because it was much easier to navigate around the Riu because its a lot smaller. But I'm thinking if both of our families are going to be down, it can't hurt to have some space!

I am looking into getting married at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya. I am looking forward to hearing about all of your upcoming weddings. I'm looking at the dates in the beginning of July in 2010. I've stayed at the Paraiso beach, and it was great.

Hi!! I just got engaged on April 12th while on vacation at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen, Mexico! My fiance and I are definitely doing a destination wedding, and we are planning to get married in July, 2010. We are leaning towards the Iberostar Maya, playa del carmen. Has anyone gotten married there? I 've stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso beach right next door. the Maya is a bit newer. I also loved the Riu, so that is our second choice. Any advice is appreciated!
