I think the one thing I am most confused about having a destination wedding is the legalities of the marriage. I am catholic and would like to have a catholic ceremony. I was thinking of going to the JP here in ny beforehand to get married and not telling anyone and then having the catholic ceremony in Mexico. But I'm not sure how this would work, would we have to go to a church? or can it be done at the resort? would it be recognized in the church here in the states? SO MANY QUESTIONS!!! and this is only the beginning. Thanks for your responses!

Thanks everyone! I had not realized how hard it actually is to pick a location, I think I dream about resorts! Right now, I love the Paradissus but I know I have alot more to look at especially since we're on a budget. I noticed most of the hotels only have packages for 20 people but I'm planning on having around 50. Any suggestions on resorts that will accomodate a reception for 50 people and it won't break my bank?

I'm Asenet and I am new to this forum. I'm getting married in June of 2010, long way to go, I know but the bright side is I have more time to Plan.
