  1. I used them and received my magnets last week. At first, they sent me an order but the website was wrong but they corrected the problem immediately. Other than that minor snag, they came out great and I am planning on sending them out as soon as possible. My advice, get the LARGE magnets and the way it looks in the proof is exactly how it will look on your fridge.
  2. OMG... I'm not even gonna go into the long end story of it all but I can definitely relate. My former MOH (who I've known since kindergarten and is my god sister) got engaged a couple of months after me last year and decided to have her wedding a month b4 mine. "Wow", I thought. I would have the same response if my wedding was in the states too. But recently she tried talking me out of a DW by "nicely" suggesting to do a wedding here... at another time. my FI and his family flipped out over that. It was also because of that, our families became more open to having the DW. lol. End of that story, she's not MOH anymore and I could care less if she comes at this point but I told her she's more than welcome to show up for the AHR. No hard feelings, seriously. She feels bad though...not my issue. Another BM said she may not be able to come because she's unemployed. Understandable. At least she asked if I had alternatives (like family that stays in JA that she could stay with). I appreciated that so I'm looking into that for her. My other BM says she's going but because of the whole MOH situation, I'm not holding my breath. Thank goodness I know these things now.
  3. Yeah Sungold will deal with the fee but it depends on the package you choose with them. I am using the Gold package.
  4. I'm using Sungold. No, they're not the official photographer for the resort. They're considered an outside vendor. I'm not sure who they use but I'm guessing it's probably a service similar to the one at Riu which I didn't want (meaning it could be just portrait type pictures not the photojournalistic style I like). I do know that Tia Flora is their official florist company. That works for me! In terms of the vendor fee, it's covered through my package with Sungold. I'm not sure what menu I'll choose yet. Most of my family is Jamaican so I think they'll enjoy the Jamaican Sunset menu with a hint of American food.
  5. August Rose Hall brides, how do you feel? JnM09, your day is coming close! Where is everyone planning on getting married at the resort? The beach, gazebos, etc? How about your receptions?
  6. Hey ladies... I've been MIA lately... but I wanted to sneak in a quick question! So... I've reached my year out mark today. I'm updating my timeline and want to make sure I'm in the right place (so far I booked the venue and photographer). What checks should be finished, accomplished, or even being considered with 12 months out? When do we normally pick details like flowers, music, etc. Any help would be appreciated!
  7. NegirlLB- I can understand how crazy the resort picking process can be. But it'll be alright. Rosehall Resort can be pricey, especially for 100 ppl. Just keep in mind it's not just the menu prices to worry about. Think about upgrades in photography, flowers, etc also.
  8. Hey... thanks for responding! I received a sample menu from the resort already and booked a few weeks back. But thanks again!
  9. Thanks JnM09! I would love to see pictures. My e-mail is pandab616 at aol dot com. You brought something up I had a question about. When do we pick the ceremony and reception site normally? Could we do it anytime or is there a specific time before the wedding?
  10. We'll see how things go... since I finally booked! The date is set June 5,2010 at Rose Hall Resort and Spa!!
  11. Thanks... that does help! I guess it also depends on how many people you have coming to your wedding. If it's a small wedding chances are you probably can't negotiate. I want to get an outside photographer but I want someone local. It maybe hard to say they're my cousin if they may have done a wedding there a week ago...lol.
  12. Hey ladies, Ok... so I'm leaning more toward Rose Hall Resort and am ready to book with them. However, I did want to know about negotiating. My last talk with the coordinator there, Yolandi, she mentioned there is a $450 fee per outside vendor we choose. There's also a $2,500 fee for a ceremony site not directly on the property (Aqueduct, etc.) Chances are I may not be able to negotiate bringing the ceremony site fee down since it's techincally a facility rental. But I was wondering if anyone choosing an outside vendor was able to talk the resort into waiving the fee. Or if you were able to negotiate something else with RHR, can you let me know how you did it?
  13. The guestlist is a MAJOR factor. My FI and I have to figure out who we're able to accomodate within our budget. Anyone extra (possibly people my parents want), they will have to accomodate. I'll keep you guys posted on which resort we choose. I know I've read this on other posts but it's true... I'm so glad I found this forum. Thanks ladies!
  14. Thanks so much for the pics Christina! Both resorts look great. I wasn't sure which pic showed the ceremony location for Iberostar? Do you know the size of weddings they can hold? I'm probably inviting about 75 people. I should definitely ask them if they could discount that day pass price. I have family that live in Jamaica and I think paying for that pass will be what puts us over budget. Knowing my parents, they would more likely stay with family then stay at the resort.
  15. Thanks for the advice! I'm interested in the Iberostar Suites more than the Grand or Beach. I did notice a couple of things... the brochere said the $18pp fee for any extra guests is only for guests at Iberostar. Do you know how much extra it would be for non-Iberostar guests. Also, I noticed the coordinator's services aren't included in the Suites package. Is that a given or is it extra? I was curious to see any pics of ceremony and reception locations, etc. If you have any pics you can share with me, please let me know. Sorry about the crazy questions. I'm just ready to book already... lol!
  16. Hey ladies, I'm between two resorts in Rose Hall. The Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Iberostar. After seeing the menu prices at RHR, I'm looking for a comparison between the two. Does anyone have any advice to give about why you ultimately chose Iberostar? Choosing a location can be so frustrating.
  17. Thanks! You can send it to PandaB616 at aol dot com. If you have any extra info that can help me formulate a budget would be great too.
  18. Hello ladies, I was wondering if anyone had a sample menu from RHR with prices on them that they can share. I am highly considering the resort for my wedding and would like more info on prices. Thanks!
  19. Hey ladies, I'm not recently engaged, but I'm finally getting down to seriously planning my DW in JA. I'm pretty stuck on Rose Hall Resort and Spa in MoBay. From reading some threads, I'm seeing that the menu can make things pricey. I emailed Yolandi for a sample menu, but I was wondering if anyone had one they could post. Also, if there's anything else you'd like to share about RHR that could help me figure out a decent budget for 50 or less ppl, please let me know! Thanks in advance!
  20. Hey guys, I'm not really a newbie (been engaged since last May)... and I'm not really new to planning a DW (my mind's changed so much) But to make a long story short, I'm planning on getting married in Jamaica! Good luck planning!
