And everything I ever wanted it to be.
  3. We live in Boston too and got married in DR. We went to Excellence Resort and Spa. This forum is a great resource you just have to do a little digging.
  4. Mlabbe, I completely forgot to write that the photographer was a suprise for Benny. He had no idea that I had flown her in. She did our engagement pictures and we just loved her. We thought there was no way we could afford her in DR and I made it happen for him!!! I think the suprise was one of the best parts of the week. Benny is very fashionable so he didn't want to miss out of the outfit change. Plus it was super super hot and he sweat through his shirt from the ceremony...you'll notice my brother changed too for the same reason. And honestly I had two dresses for that reason. I was dying in my wedding dress it was so hot.
  5. I finally have our professional pictures. Here is the thread http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...aznikov-53554/
  6. Well the silver verses gold is really up to you...the gold includes upgraded food and cake. I think it includes a few other things as well (don't remember). I just suggest a package in general. No, there is not a fee for an outside photographer. You do have to buy an $80 day pass if they are not staying at the resort. If you are feeding any of your vendors it counts as a guest just an FYI. We just paid for our two photographers to eat. If the vendor is there for less than an hour you will not need a day pass (i.e. Rick York).
  7. We had 26 ppl We had the silver package (which I would recommend the package if you do the math it's worth it) Rick York (I don't think he's a pastor he is a christian missionary) $300 DJ-$750 (2009 rate not sure 2010) Videographer-$350 (this will probably be more now) plus $20/video plus $80 day pass We did not do excursions so not sure My timeline was probably very different than most brides because we had a photographer all day verses what the resort provides.
  8. It's $45 for the silver package as well for each person over the 20 included. The reason they charge you is that you have a private event with your own waitstaff and set menu. It is absolutely worth having a private reception in my opinion. Just an FYI you can't have a dj or music in any of the restaraunts.
  9. This is a link to the dress Wtoo | Bridesmaid Gown Collection | Style 130 | Chiffon knee-length dress with draped v-neck bodice and waist with streamers at back. Available in knee length, floor length or extra length.
  10. Girls I have the sneak peak photos from our photographer. This is the thread I just posted. There is a link in my sig to the photos as well.
  11. I am sooooo excited to have gotten our sneak peak pictures from our photographer. There are 324 photos in the sneak peak so I can't even imagine what the other 2,000 are like. Corinna Raznikov is WONDERFUL and EXTREMELY talented. This was our wedding splurge and it was worth every penny. Debbie & Benny
  12. I did have a private reception and it was hot as Sh** and I had on a cocktail dress. Just know that you will sweat A LOT if you have a more traditional dress on. I know I would have DIED if I kept my wedding dress on for the reception.
  13. This dress is stunning and fashion forward. I love it and I love the veil!!!
  14. I think DJ Mannia is new to PC originally started in Mexico. We paid $750 for 3 hours.
  15. I love all the details. The BM's dresses are gorgeous I am looking on Etsy now for one.
  16. I got a manicure/pedicure the afternoon before. I used OPI funny bunny which is my favorite. It's an opaque white that is very natural.
  17. I read a lot about this before we left and then just did what we felt was right. We were married in DR as well. Here is what we tipped Rehersal Dinner-$40 for waitstaff WC-$160 for WC and her assistant. Plus I gave our WC all of our centerpieces, candles, and left over stuff because she was starting a busines. They were AMAZING and nothing I could pay them would equal what they gave me on my wedding day. DJ-$20 Waitstaff for reception-$40 but I feel like I should have given them more Spa-tipped as I do at home 15-20% The videogrpaher owned the business so we didn't feel it necessary to give him more. The photog we flew from home so that was enough. Rick York was our "Pastor" we paid him $300 for the ceremony so that was more than enough. The musicians were paid directly $200 for a half an hour so again that was enough. I think it really depends on what you are comfortable with and the service you are given.
  18. Our outside vendors were the photographer, the videographer and Rick York. DJ Mannia is actually a hotel vendor. When we first asked about the DJ they gave us someone else and then closer to our date this is who they sent us. I wrote a lot about DJ Mannia on the thread someone else started as a review. Carlos was the last person we met with and we were over sitting in meetings so we literally spent 10 minutes with him. We gave a CD of music for entrance, dance, cake, last dance. We told him we wanted top 40, a little hip hop, some house, meregue and salsa. We told a few artists and that was it. He did the rest. It did stink that we had to end at 10 but it was so hot and we were drenched that everyone showered and met at the Disco at 11 and danced until 1 there. We had about 2 hours of dancing at the reception because we asked them to move through dinner quickly. Happy to answer other questions
  19. Love your hair. Love your dress. Love your pictures. Just stunning.
