  1. How fun and exciting!! Congrats... and have fun in Vegas!

All their attention is geared towards their brides that are there at the resort at the present time. If they replied to all their emails it would be taking away from the brides and grooms that are having their weddings within the week. So your time will come - I promise. As soon as you're there they will take care of EVERY request you have or are concerned about. That's why we're here to help you all out. So please if you have concerns or questions we can try to answer them as best as we can here. Thank you for that...it definately makes me feel better. My biggest concern is the bar. Are very young children (like 2 years old) allowed in the pool bar we rented for our reception? My future sister-in-law is very stressed about it. Also, since they booked me at a restaurant at the Jalisco instead of the Vallarta by accident, I'm worried they did the same for the bar.
  3. We went to Mexico years ago, not for a DW, just for fun. We went snorkling with a large group. Nothing was missing or stolen when we got back on the boat, but when a friend got home, he found multiple charges on his credit card from that day that he didn't make. The only thing we could figure was someone got his CC info out of his wallet while we were in the water and then put it back so we didn't notice. Luckily he was able to disput the claim. Unfortunately, you can take all the precautions you'd like, but if someone is sneaky enough they will get what they want. Very sad.
  4. Awww...that's wonderful. I read you're entire thread in hopes that this would turn out with a happy ending! This is going to be an incredible story to tell your grandchildren in 30 years and you'll look at this ring and it'll have so much more meaning...because it's the man you're marrying that matters in the long run. I'm very happy for you.
  5. Does anyone know if Erika is still there? A few months ago when I first signed up for the Riu Vallarta wedding, she was great with responding to my questions. Now I've sent 3 emails over 4 weeks and only got one response, but it was only partially answered and it was from a girl named Jessica. I'm getting worried. First, they booked my reception dinner at the Jalisco, even though we signed up for the Vallarta. My invites with the dinner info already went out. I realize it's not a HUGE deal that they're wrong...we'll just tell guests where to go once they get there...but it's pretty irritating. Then, I've tried to confirm that the ceremony and the bar we rented is at the correct hotel but it's been 2 weeks with no response. Lastly, we have some yound children (as young as 2 years old) coming to the wedding. I asked if they would be allowed in the bar or if there was an age limit. Still no answer. I'm very worried. I know I have a couple of months still (May 22nd) but I don't like being out of the loop. Has anyone else had these problems? Does anyone know if young kids are allowed at the pool bar?

We have 33 people attending, with a wide variety of age and interests, so here's out breakdown. I found different colored sand pails at Michaels for $0.50 in the summer, they each came with a little shovel-- they stack nicely and shouldn't be too hard to pack. Each bucket gets: Tums Starfish Wine Topper Little Beach themed magnet -- DIY will post in plan thread later Wish necklace for girls -- Colored thread (we chose purple) with a small shell that you make a wish on(bought in bulk for cheap) on it, tied into a knot and worn until the thread breaks from wear. When it breaks the wish is supposed to come true! (easy and cheap) Ceremony Bubbles "Just Married" Flip Flop keychains Individual Starbucks coffee packets-- for those that miss it while away. Two different sea scented candles with a match pack for each (dollar store) Individual Body Cream, Body wash sets Mini Hand Sanitizer -- really easy and really cheap from Superstore! Individual Scope Maps of Puerto Vallarta -- activities, excursions, attractions, shopping, etc. Itinerary Thank you postcard and nametag There's a few more goodies that I just can't remember, but that's pretty much the gist of it. Does anyone have any ideas for easy Men's additions? I have a lot of girly stuff, but am stumped for the guys. I was thinking some sort of inflatable sports toy... like a beach ball. I know it doesn't scream manly, but... Where did you find the PV Maps? I'd like to include them, but am not sure where to look. Thanks!!
  7. I am SOOOO excited about my latest addition to our OOT bag. I ordered postcards from VistaPrint.com with a beautiful sunset beach front that said: Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico A memory of our time with you on your wedding day May 22, 2009 Then on the back it had our address as the return address and on the bottom said: Please return to Allie & Jeremy in lieu of signing a guest book I love this idea and can't wait to build a collection of the cards when we get home!!
  8. You all are so wonderful!! This and my FI's outfit are the only things left on my to-do list and I've been struggling on what do to. My biggest concern is getting all of this down there. We're looking at 50-70 guests. How in the world do you transport all of this through customs, let alone packing it and carrying it all on the plane?? We had found Mishka Design, and LOVE their maracas, plus they're in PV, so we wouldn't have to worry about delivery and transport...but it would use up our entire gift budget. I'm torn.

I ordered it from Etsy for a really reasonable price and the designer will make the tutu dresses with any colours and accessories you want, sized exactly how you want too. I've seen them on babies and toddlers and they look adorable! The designers name on Etsy is Tiaratutu and here is her limk if you are interested: Etsy :: tiarastutus :: Creating unique gifts for your little princess! That is the cutest thing ever!!! Do you have it yet? Is it hot? We're going to be on a beach in Mexico at 1pm in late May. My niece will be 22 months and I'm worried she might get really hot.

I have found so much valuable information already! I've doubled my song list and am looking at the beautiful maracas by Mishka as guest gifts. I chose the Royal package, but may have to upgrade to the Caprice since it looks like we'll go over the 50 person limit. Luckily, we budgeted for the Caprice. I had no idea so many people would go! What upgrades did you go with? It seems like everything is covered and none are necessary, but it's hard to tell.
  11. My fiance and I did initially start chatting online (MySpace). I was very hesitant at first since I had never spoke w/ a stranger online before. I turned out he went to high school with a friend of mine. I spoke with her and she couldn't stop talking about what a great guy he was and what a great family he came from. She convinced me to go out with him (it didn't take too much convincing since I had REALLY enjoyed all of our online-chats for the past month). And the rest is history. It's been 2 1/2 years and I can't wait to marry my best friend.
  12. We are renting out the Bar at the Riu Vallarta for our reception (after the dinner) and have decided to use the provided sound system and just plug in our iPOD. I am hoping to get some ideas on play lists. I will have such a wide variety in our guest list...from 8 years old to 80 years old...and want a little bit for everyone. If anyone who's used the Puerto Vallarta Riu's DJ has an opinion about how they did, I'd love to hear it. Maybe it's worth paying them to take care of it for us. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  13. Luckily, having my wedding at the Riu means I don't have to do much. I have my dress already. We've picked out my fiance's ring and my wedding band, but haven't ordered either yet. We still need to get his clothes and the ringbear/flower girl outfits. We're not having attendants, so that's not a to-do for us. We already sent out invites and have gotten about 1/3rd of our replys. The Riu wedding coordinator is supposed to call us between March and April to finalize the flowers, cake and decorations. So, I'm pretty laid back and comfortable right now. We're going clothes shopping for my honey next weekend which will really get the big tickets done for me!
  14. My name is Allie. My fiance and I are getting married May 22nd, 2009 at the Riu Vallarta in Nuevo Vallarta (near Puerto Vallarta). Can't wait and am on this forum hoping to hear from people who have been married at the Riu Vallarta and get ideas on what additions are worth the money, and what's not.
