I tried the living proof med-thick and wore my hair curly on a damp-ish day. It did not frizz, but it did not give me any real curl definition either. I think you just need to put the product in and leave it or diffuse right away. I like to twist my hair, let it dry naturally, then use a dryer to fluff and style it. Can't do that with this product, there is not enough hold. It might work better if you put this in first, and then followed with a styling product.

Is what you sent to them the original divorce certifcate or a copy? It must be the original or a certified copy. If you sent a copy maybe they wanted to speak to your FI's counsel to verify it. That is really the only reason I can think of as to why they would need that information.

Does anyone know if there is a grocery store in the Blue Diamond Shopping Center in Mo Bay? A few guests have asked if there is a place for them to stop and get a few snacks (cookies, chips, etc.) before heading to the resort. Thanks in advance!

We are having 2 sets of steel pans set up. They are going to play at the ceremony and then head over to our cocktail hour location (where the 2nd set will be set up) and will play there for the duration of the cocktail hour. We have a full band for the reception.

We are thinking about having a steel pan trio for our ceremony. I am thinking Canon in D or Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring for the maids to walk in, and then One Love for the recessional. NO idea what I want to use for my processional song. Any ideas?? It can be traditional or not, we are kind of doing a mix.

Jamaica/Sandals & Fireworks
jenjoe08 replied to BakersGirl's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
We really wanted fireworks and looked into it at the Ritz Carlton. It is CRAZY expensive. $2400 a minute, minimum of 4 minutes. Not kidding. Something about having to have the fire department there on standby, etc. Not exactly as ecicting, but certainly more economical, I was told that people have used sparklers in liee of throw rice at sunset weddings. Maybe an option for you to get your fireworks on a smaller scale. -
Notarized birth certificate?
jenjoe08 replied to ashley173's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
They mean it needs to be certified copy of your birth certificate or the original. You need to get a copy from the gov't entity in your area that issues birth certificates. -
So, I did the banish fat, boost metabolism video yesterday morning. If anyone has done P90X, you will really like it. It is basically a combo of the moves from the P90X videos. It is a good, tough work-out. I am off to do it again!

I just got the banish fat/boost metsbolism dvd. It is at home sitting on the counter.... I am getting all geared up to do it tomorrow morning! Will report back.

Relastin Eye Silk is REALLY REALLY good. Amazing good. Downside though, is that it is pricey. On the other end of the spectrum is the fabulously recessionista chic Boots No. 7 lifiting and firming eye cream. It is also very good. : )

I have been keeping a pretty close eye on the press regarding Air Jamaica's financial health. They are still trying to privatize the airline and find a buyer or partner by the end of this month. Now, being an attorney who has worked on mergers, etc., I can tell you, they may find a partner, but it is highyl doubtful that a deal is going to close that quickly. For now, it looks like the business plan is to streamline ops as best they can. For un NY'ers, Jet Blue is (starting in May) nonstop service from JFK to MBJ at 755 am each day, so I am sure that is why the 730 am Air Jamacia flight got blended with the former 230 flight into a 12:45. UGH! I will just keep on checking every day to make sure I still have a flight!
-
I just found out that Air Jamaica has cut is flights between JFK and MBJ to once a day from twice a day. Mind you, I only found this out b/c I was online searching for specials for my guests. I booked my flight only this past Tuesday, and all of a sudden my 7:30 a.m. flight is now 12:45 p.m. NO ONE sent me any notification! Sooo... please double check your flights!!

Money Back From Fortunoff?
jenjoe08 replied to *Casey*'s topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Fortunoff maintains all of their records by name electronically. If you can get a hold of someone in a store, they will be able to find your transaction and see that it was not shipped, and hopefully refund your money. If that does not work, file a dispute with your credit card company. If you used AMEX, you will have no problem at all. -

Do you put a return address on invites?
jenjoe08 replied to meghanmbm's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
From an etiquette standpoint, it is proper to put the return address on the back flap, not the front. -
Hi. I have thin, but very curly hair that is a frizzy mess the second it hits humidity. About a year ago, I switched to the Curlisto line of products and they have made a HUGE difference. My hair is so much more manageable now! They are a little pricey, but even if you can get just one product... the weekly treatment masque is well worth the $. It will do wonders for the condition of your hair.

Rum Cake to Go
jenjoe08 replied to Myda77's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I saw small (4oz) traditional black rum cakes at a coffee store in the airport in Montego Bay. They were about $5 USD each. Pretty sure you'd be able to find them at Blue Diamond on your way in as well. -
I got one of the lipsticks (i forget the name, but it is the darkest one). It is my new favorite!

Shipping Wedding Items Before?
jenjoe08 replied to divadivine25's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I asked our WC about this when we were down last week. She said to ship one month before we are scheduled to arrive and to make sure to include an invoice for each item in the box. It is expensive to ship to the Caribbean. I was alos advised to use DHL. -
I met with Tai Flora's rep last week. She was very helpful and had loads of pictures to show us. We are going to use them for our wedding in June.

Did anyone by OOT bag stuff in Jamaica?

Plus you won't have to worry about haggling with vendors, and is a one stop shop for everything you could want. In the same plaza is a pharmacy that has a few other souvenier type items as well....again, a local store so very cheap. Good luck! Thank you!! That is really helpful information. We will be staying at the Ritz Carlton. Going down this weekend in fact (counting the seconds!), so we will be sure to check it out. -
Congrats! Have you done your pre-planning visit yet? We are going down in a few days!

The reason why it is improper from an etiquitte standpoint to say "no gifts" or even the cuter verison of "your presence is our gift," is that the focus is on gifts and it is considered impolite. That being said, we are in the middle of a terrible recession, money is on everyone's mind and maybe putting people at ease that they do not need to worry about the cost of the gift in addition to the expense of attending a destination wedding should trump etiquette depending on your individual situation. We have been trying to spread this through word of mouth, but I think that some people feel uncomfortable not giving a gift.
