so gabriela at del mar emailed my TA back saying no penalty fee for using outside vendors such as dj or florist or makeup (except photographer that is $300) but you do have to get them a daypass at $50 a head, it's confirmed... Although I figured she would say this!!! but funny how I asked her this a month ago if there was ANY CHARGE AT ALL and her reply was no charge! ERRRRRRRRR can't even express how bananas I am gonna go on the iberostar.

Gail, ask dj bob if he recommends anyone for you?? It's worth a shot... I did this with my photographer and she recommend my makeup artist! So worth a try at least!!! Stina- I found that email regaurding the fee for an outside florist charges... Gabriela told my TA in that email no charges for outside florist but we never asked about a daypass charge (I am hoping gabriela meant 'no charges what so ever'... Because I will fight them to the death if they say a daypass charge because my florist is bringing a TEAM of people with him to setup)! But my TA has an email into the iberostar wedding coordinator now asking for the specifics about the outside vendor charges (florist, makeup, dj, etc)including daypasses! So I can let you know for sure! Yep, and I just sent all the information to your email regarding the florist with some pics!

As far as a hairstylist pricing and information she can get that for you to she works with alot of hairstylist. Her sister Katia Monforte owns a salon in closer so it might be cheaper but she doesn't speak english but Ilka is willing to do all the cross comunication if you are interested in Katia. Ilka is very very very skilled you can see some of her credientials but feel free to ask about them like I did, it's kinda impressive! She speaks fluent english and she loves to give refrences of past brides feel free to email them (they are super helpful and love to give pictures - well the ones I talked to at least)!

Did you here does he play good dance music or should we still bring ipod/cd I for surely will let ya'll know how the wedding went when I get back! It's coming up quick - WOW! I decided on outside everything to be honest with you such as: photagraphy, makeup/hair stylist, florist, and now I think I am gonna do that DJ bob! Basically, I am extremely picky and I seen the iberostar's flower book that they let you pick from (well almost 50% of it at least) AND I didn't like anything...AND they couldn't get the flowers I wanted (orchids)... AND THEY WERE CHARGING ME MORE THAN DOUBLE what my florist is charging me (and he's giving me way way way more flowers)... AND I wanted alot of flowers and decorations that they just couldn't accomodate because they only have 6 VASES. So that's it in a nut shell! Told ya I am picky! Yep, they (iberostar) can definetly decorate anything you want cake table, sign in table, with flowers etc... but remember they don't have that many vases so ideas are limited along with their flower selection I think it's like roses, stargazers, lillies, daises and some orchids (but they are $5 a stem)! Good Advice: ALWAYS ALWAYS ask gabriela/reyna everything 2 times they love to say 'yes' the first time and than when you ask them again to put something in writting their answers always change (or maybe that's just my unfortunate luck)! I emailed that DJ bob and he sent me a reply saying this: "Hi Danielle First of all Congratulations. I would love to DJ/MC your wedding. I already am booked for 11 weddings that month and fortunately I still have your date available at this time. Let me tell you a little about myself and try to answer all your questions.I moved down here to the Mexican Riviera Maya 8 years ago from New Jersey so I do speak English. We'll some people would dispute that. My web site is weddingdjrivieramaya.com. I am a professional DJ/MC and have performed for over 450 shows and weddings. I have a wide range of music. 4000 of the most played/danced wedding songs including everything you listed. I am also able to down load a song should you request something I do not have in my library prior to the reception. I have worked at one of the Iberostars before I believe. My fee for four hours of music, (no breaks, includes everything, my equipment, lighting, mic's too) is $475 US. Very reasonable price hey?If you are interested all you need to do in order to lock in your reception date is make a $100 US deposit into my Pay Pal account at [email protected]. Also make sure the hotel knows you are bringing in an outside vendor and don't be afraid to dispute any outrageous charge they might try to add. Please let me know if you have any other questions. My US satellite # is 732-812-4521.Looking forward to hearing from you. DJ Bob" So I am gonna see if he can do $450 like he is doing for the other wedding on here and go from there... My TA has an email into gabriela to see if there are any charges for using an outside dj besides a possible daypass thing. I can let you know what she says if you like?!?

Seriously, I don't know what Gabriela thinks sometimes And the cost is high because the hotel takes there cut as does the DJ... That's ridicoulos though!!! I had my TA reply to Gabriela's emails about are concerns being the same about the DJ. If she replies about the ballons and glowstick DJ i will just laugh and call her retarded myself! Let me know when she does answer ya question what she says (they seem to only answer the questions they want too)... Stina168, I will soooo have to look into him that sounds great! Thanks for the information!!! BBtoB, I don't think it works like that at the DEL MAR as far as I know... I definetly know that the prices are way different bewteen the Del mar and lindo/grand/etc. The photoshop penalty fee is $300 at the del mar and guest passes are only $50 per person. As far as I know the wedding package information states the only penalty fee you would be charged is if you went with a different photographer all the rest is at your own discretion and risk (hence you just need to pay for a daypass for them to come to the resort). I know I don't have to pay a penalty for my florist coming to the resort to decorate but I don't know about the daypass thing... I am sure they will try to whack me for that!

And Gabriela told my TA they do not rent the equipment and the cost is $200 for a DJ with his equipment... Let me know what Gabriela tells you to make sure we both get the same answer!!!

Has anyone (that has already been married at the Iberostar) just used the dj equipment and not the DJ? Do they set up the equipment and your ipod or do they just drop the equipment off at the restaurant and say good luck? Just wondering how difficult it could possibly be to get your ipod hooked up I didn't know you could just rent the equipment! Or have you used the dj and did everything go smoothly?

I was under the impression all you really purchase the DJ for is the speakers and stuff... I don't know if you are bringing your own speakers/bose/cd player but otherwise if you are using an Ipod it's kinda a scam but you gotta go with the DJ?!?! So on that thought... We are doing the DJ and there is an awsome thread on here: "Post your "Must Have" wedding songs" and they list everyone's different playlists for your ipod that you can search through and get ideas! So we are setting up different playlists on our Ipod and giving it to the supposed "DJ" to plug into his equipment and having someone else do announcements like you were thinking... Hope that helps!

Hey ladies, I have a quick question for those of you getting hitched at the Del Mar... Our ceremony is may 16 Saturday at 4pm in the gazebo and the reception starts at 630p at the brazilian steakhouse... what are ya'll doing for a cocktail hour (we need one to go take pics at the beach and keep are guests entertained before the reception)? So we need our cocktail hour to be like 530-630pm and we had the aqua bar but ran into complications... So I was wondering what other options Gabriela or Reyna gave you guys! Let me know if any... Thanks!

Mac's prices I am assuming work as they do in the USA. For a makeup consultation you just need to spend $40 on products and they will apply the makuep for you. The number and contact info is listed on mac cosmetics website under store information (just search international and you will find/see it) maccosmetics.com. I contacted mac's new york headquarters and they do not set up consultations you have to call mexico directly to set up a consultation. Mac does take walk in consults but that's as far as I got because I decided against traveling to the mac counter!!! I am sure you can talk to one of the makeup artists there at the mac counter in playa and have them come to you, makeup artists love to do side jobs (well that's how I found my makeup mac artists here in the usa). Instead of all that I got a recommendation for and decided to go with ilkamonforte.com her prices are on the website they are just in pesos, so you have to convert. She is over 4 hrs away and just to travel to the riviera maya she charges $180usd so this is still expensive but I think she is worth it! She does alot of LA photo shoots and you can view her portfolio which I loved!!! Let me know if that helped! Thanks, Danielle -
