  1. Thanks for all of the compliments everyone! Elizabeth Medina is THE BEST! My husband and I absolutely loved working with her.. she is an absolute darling! We're no pro's at being "models" so we were nervous at first about getting so many pics taken of us, but Elizabeth really made us feel so comfortable. I would recommend her in a heart beat to anyone getting married in Mexico!
  2. Ladies, if anyone is interested in seeing our full slide show - Elizabeth Medina just posted on the below link! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-carmen-53050/
  3. Thanks Jesmcan! Sorry i've been MIA lately on the board ladies! After we got back from Mexico, we had our at-home reception 2 weeks later.. so it's been a very busy November! Everyone that are getting married at Royal soon, trust me you won't be disappointed! Even hurricane Ida couldn't ruin my wedding. The Royal grounds were beautiful and the staff was beyond accommodating. We will be returning to the hotel again soon! P.S. Elizabeth Medina is sooo amazing at what she does and is such a sweet heart! My husband and I really enjoyed working with her. I highly recommend her to anyone that is still in search of a photographer!
  4. We're getting married at the Royal Playa del Carmen on November 7th and would like to have a rehearsal dinner off premises the night before. Our party is about 20 people. Ideally looking for a place with preset group menus. Any recommendations anyone?
  5. I'm getting married at the Royal next month. It took me awhile to decide but ultimately, I didn't want my guests to feel stranded on the hotel, so with the Royal being right in town it sounded perfect. Also, all reviews on the hotel are positive from food to service. That also helped!
  6. Hey ladies! I've been MIA on this forum for awhile. Our wedding is only 27 days away! It's crazy how fast time flies! How many of you ladies are doing the legal ceremony in Mexico? We picked symbolic, and were planning on legalizing before we get to Playa, but now i'm thinking civil just so it feels more real on our wedding day. Any thoughts?

Probably my only option!
  9. Hello ladies! It's been awhile since i've been on here - just catching up on postings. Tightwhitey and Kriswim - congrats on your wedding! Tightywhitey, your photos are so amazing! We also booked Elizabeth Medina. She is just awsome! Also - welcome to all the noobies on the board - the 2010 ladies! Question - is anyone planning on shipping down items for the wedding? I heard it's not recommended because shipments sometimes get lost - but i'm just trying to figure out how I am going to manage all of the favors and my dress! argh!
  10. Thanks for sharing your pictures Shay - i'm so glad everything worked out for you. You looked beautiful on your wedding day - Congrats!
  11. Hoping you ladies can provide some advice: I'm planning on sending out my invitations for my November 7th wedding this week. I guess I need some reassurance that it'll go over fine despite all this Swine flu mess. I know it's dying down but I just hope my guests will also realize that. Good idea to send now or hold off for a little longer? My RSVP deadline is August 1st. Also - should I post updates on my wedding homepage regarding the Swine flu or should I just not even mention it?

It really sounds like the media is blowing this whole Swine flu thing so out of proportion. I just got a call from a friend asking if i'm thinking about changing the location of my November wedding because of this. Her mom is already starting a fuss about it. Ridiculous. I do not think it's a cause for concern. Like the article said.. a typical flu season kills 40,000 people in the U.S. each year. Does that mean we should all not leave our houses or wear gas masks during flu season?
  13. Everything looks perfect Shay! I'm sure your wedding day will be absolutely perfect!
  14. Steph - I'm sure it's just because he's a guy hence the STD being on his coffee table. I'm sure half of our guy friends have already lost their STDs.. even though it's a freaking magnet. To the other ladies, I honestly think some people haven't gone onto your websites to RSVP because maybe many guests are probably older and are not that computer literate. You'd be surprised! That being said i'm sure everything will work out as the wedding get's closer.
  15. Congrats Athena - thanks for sharing your slideshow. Your wedding looked perfect! Melia122 - I still can't believe we're sharing the same day! We'll have to chat. I actually didn't know Royal could do 2 events on the same day.

  17. Ok - i just saw on Meli122 is having her wedding the same day as me? Is this at the Royal? I was wondering how the garden was already booked for cocktail hour.. could this be her?!
  18. Is everyone booking the DJ offered by the hotel? The rate is currently $1K - that's just crazy! Anyone know of any cheaper options?
  19. Weird.. Paty still hasn't mentioned to me that I have to put down a deposit. Last i contacted her, she said "don't worry, your date is reserved"... should i be worried?
  20. "Is this love" by Bob Marley is such a beautiful song - I've been thinking of using it for my slideshow too - it's so beachy! The Bright eyes song is perfect for a first dance.. it's so touching. I too have began been putting together a collection of songs I'd like to use for the wedding (haven't really categorized most of them yet).. here's a list I started in case any of you ladies need ideas. We like a mix of old school 40's/50's music for our reception. Go to SeeqPod Playable Search - Find. Discover. Watch. Listen. Share. to listen to them - you can even search for a bunch of songs you like and save as a playlist to share with others. A kiss to build a dream on - Louis Armstrong (Likely our first dance song) Such great heights - Iron & Wine (baby pictures slide show if end up doing one..) Look after you - The Fray (possible wedding video song) Love Song - 311 Gimme Love - Collie Buddz (probably using this for our TTD photo slideshow) The way I Am - Ingrid Michaelson Love is you - Chrisette Michele Just like a star - Corinne Bailey Rae Love me tender - Norah Jones Don't know why - Norah Jones The way you look tonight - Frank Sinatra LOVE - Natalie Cole Breathe in - Frou Frou Unforgettable - Natalie Cole (A classic) Sway - Michael Buble (Reception song) Moondance - Michael Buble (Reception/Cocktail hour song?)
  21. Shay - your wedding plans sound great! I'm sure everything will be wonderful. I was also thinking of purchasing maraccas as favors for the reception tables. Are you waiting to purchase them in Mexico or bringing them down with you? I think it's such a cool idea to add touches of the Mexican culture to the wedding.
