  3. Bianca, Have a great time and I'm sure your wedding day will be beautiful and perfect!!! Thank you for all the hard work you've put into this thread, you have helped so many people.
  4. Dear Reluctant, I have been on this thread and have watched you plan this wedding from the beginning. I just feel horrible for you and all the other brides out there that are in the same situation. Your son is your number one priority. Good luck with all the new decisions that face you and keep us posted on the new changes. I know whatever happens you will have a beautiful wedding and everything will work out for the best. You and all the other brides in this situation are in my thoughts and in my prayers.
  5. I truly feel so bad for you and I am sorry that you are going through this. But you still have 10 percent of your guests coming right? Just remember it's all about you and your husband to be. You will have a beautiful wedding and everything will turn out. Good luck.
  6. Just wondering if anyone has heard about the drug wars going on in Mexico? I heard that they are telling Springbreakers not to travel to Mexico, particularly Cancun and surrounding areas. Then I heard it's the California side of Mexico close to the borders is where they are having problems? Any comments? Just another thing to be concerned about...I hope not!!
  7. Rory, it's so hard to tell if that would be enough tulle. The top pole is pretty wide. Are you ordering the tulle on line? I was thinking maybe you could print the picture and take it to a JoAnn Fabrics or Michael's and they could help you fugure it out. Have you priced it yet?
  8. You're right, i'm not too happy either. The chairs aren't even decorated and I counted less than twenty chairs, so I would've thought they could've at least put chair covers on them. I wonder if they just had the free wedding package and that's what they get. I don't know about that banquet room either! I'm am more confused than ever!!!
  9. Hi AlliMay, Since you are having your cocktail hour at the gazebo, what are you doing for the reception dinner and dancing? Are you picking a wedding package? If you are which one? I am still so confused. We are really running into money problems with this crazy economy and this wedding is becoming very stressful for my future hubby and I! I just don't know which is the best way to go as far as the reception. Would love to hear ideas!!!
  10. Allimay, It is so funny that you mentioned this. I was just on Trip Advisor and read the same review and flipped out!!! I called a friend of mine who does alot of travelling and asked if ever uses Trip Advisor. He said he's been on websites such as this, but does not pay any attention to them. He has been to Mexico and Riviera Maya several times and said the resorts there are all beautiful. He said Dreams have a great reputation and not to worry. You are going down with a group of people you love and you will have a great time no matter where you stay!!! I felt so much better after talking with him. My advice-stay off of Trip Advisor, it will drive you crazy!!! That's what i'm doing. Hope this helps. Kim
  11. I read somewhere in all my papers that the wedding needs to be paid 2 days prior to the wedding date, which sounds like no deposit is required. Did anyone else read this?
  12. That is such great news!!!! Please let us know where you think the best spot is to hold a recption. I'm trying to have a poolside reception but have not heard back yet from Jacy. Can't wait to see pics and also to see how the food is. Thanks so much and have a great time. Wish you could haul my OOT bags down!! Lol-Just kidding!! Seriously, I'm going to have 8 suitcases. You know gotta have room for my shoes!!
  13. Gosh Melissa the detail and planning you did was unbelievable!!! How many months did it take you to get all this together? I guess I better get started!!! Lol Also your dress is beautiful. Where did you get your OOT bags? Thank you for posting all your ideas. Kim
  14. Hi Trish, We booked our wedding for Dreams Puerto Aventuras for July 17.2009. We went through Apple Vacations. We originally booked an oceanview room for $1778.00 per person. But since we have over 20 people booked, the 21st person is free. We used that credit to upgrade to a Honeymoon suite aand the rest of the credit goes to our balance. This price includes airfare, hotel food, everything. Hope this info has been some help. Kim
  15. You got that right Rory! I have been up since 5:30 looking over the packages and the more I look the more questions I have. And I can't seem to get any info from Jacy. She used to get back with me within a couple of days. I sent her an email 2 weeks ago and still haven't heard back! I figured it up and since my fiance and I have been married before, it will cost us $660.00 for them just to do paperwork and bloodtests, etc. for us to have a civil ceremony there. I think we may just get married at home and then have a vow renewal there. Bianca from what I understand anything beyond 20 people is extra and that means chaircovers and bows. I have a question too. For the wedding package dinners do they charge $45.00-$55.00 per person beyond the twenty people for the buffet too? Or is that just for the sit down dinner? Also for anyone that needs to know there is a website under the "wedding" link for Dreams with all the packages. There are also bouqeuts and I think wedding cakes to choose from.
  16. I think it is a really neat idea. And if you have children there they won't miss the trick or treating, they'll be having too much fun!! You'll have an extra hour of partying too, clocks will be turned back that night from daylight savings! Go for it!!!
  17. Hi Alli, I was looking through my info last night and in what I have they said if you rent out the restaurant you also have a $18.00 set up fee per person. I don't have anything saying the hotel has to be below 60% occupied. You are so lucky that your travel agent is corresponding with Jacy. Mine hasn't done anything except book the rooms. Also are you thinking about a DJ? And how about a photographer? Well have a great day and I will talk to you later. Kim
  18. Thanks Morgan for taking so many pics. The place really looks deserted. Looks like they have alot of work to get done. How was the weather when you got married there? We're getting married July 17,2009 right in the rainy season!! Didn't even think of that when planning, was thinking the most convenient month for everyone with children!! Anyway hope your wedding day was awesome will check out your thread after I get home from work. Congratulations to you and your new hubby!!! Kim
  19. Welcome AlliMay! My wedding date is July 17, 2009 at Dreams. We'll be down there the same time!!!! I'm just wondering have you picked your wedding package yet? I am having a hard time getting a response from Jacy. I know they must be very busy, but I've written to her a couple of weeks ago and have not heard from her. I wanted to know if we could have a poolside reception or if there is a restaurant with a terrace overlooking the water. It is very hard to plan a wedding without knowing what anything is going to look like. We are also checking out other options for the wedding reception such as maybe having it at a restaurant in Playa Del Carmen, but I think they are going to be too expensive. Oh well I'm so excited for you. And really excited that we'll get to see you the same week we're getting married!! We are arriving July 12 and staying till July 19, 2009. Talk to you soon. Email me if you would like my phone number and we can talk. I'm still not good with getting around in this forum!!! Lol Talk to you soon. Kim Here is my email: [email protected]
  20. I am also checking out other options for a wedding reception outside the Dreams Resort. So far I've looked at Xcaret, the ecological park. They have some gorgeous area to have a reception, but they are a bit pricey. In my search I have met a girl who's mom owns a home in Playa Del Carmen, (I think). Anyway she sounds really nice. She has emailed me some places that would be great for a wedding reception. We are still probably get married a the resrt, but depending what we find out we may go into Playa Del Carmen for the reception. I think it would be fun too for the guests since they will be eatin at the resorts restaurants all week. It all depends on money! (Yuk). Anyway the restaurant I am checking out now is Yaxche, pronounced Jag-Shey. They have beautiful garden terrace. Their website is: Playa del Carmen Restaurant Serving Mayan, Mexican, Seafood, and Vegetarian Dishes - Yaxche Maya Cuisine Restaurant Playa del Carmen Mexico. One thing I have noticed is very slow communication with alot of these places so be patient. This rest. was the girl I've been emailing her favorite restaurant in that area. She also seems to know the area very well. She also said Hemingway's is really excellent, but I had trouble getting to their website. Well I will keep everyone posted as to my findings. Good Luck!!! Kim
  21. Boy Michelle, I just read this and I feel so bad for you. My girlfriend just had colon surgery and she had to have the bag also. But she didn't have it that long. She complained of the same things as you. You have gotten some great ideas and just try and remember this is temporary. I think your nurse can give you something for the burning. Keep us posted and good luck. Hope you fell better soon!
  22. You look stunning!!! Can't wait to see the wedding pics!! It will be here before you know it. Congrats
  23. I got on line last night and there are alot of really neat restaurants in PA and Playa Del Carmen that cater weddings. I asked for some quotes and what they have to offer just to compare with the wedding packages from the resort. I think also they are so busy with trying to open and dealing with issues with Dreams Tulum that things will change after they open. I also got into a local newspaper and they are also closing down some hotels in Cancun. Apparently these hotels are operating without the proper permits and the government is cracking down. I'm thinking maybe just having the reception at the restaurant, hopefully there is a pretty terrace, that's what I really had my heart set on. I just want it to be elegant and fun for everyone. I am just too confused! Well have a great day and I will keep in touch.
