  1. Hey guys, Well I just recently got back from Dreams where we had our wedding.........I am writting my review soon but I just wanted to let you guys know, that Dreams is absolutely beautiful...Gaby is wonderful to work with in person......... #1 tip - dont stress the small stuff, at least until you get there...don't worry about pricing and switching things unitl you get there because they say different things to everyone.... But, wow, the gazebo is 1000000 times better in person..its like a fairy tale =)
  2. Thats actually a really good idea! Having a longer cocktail hour instead of a dinner. I am having twenty guests and the club terrace will be perfect for a more intimate dinner... i figured having the coctail hour will give the guests a little variety while the wedding party is taking photos...
  3. Yeah I think it is embedded in us as brides to worry and know every little tiny detail of what is going to happen. But with a destination wedding NOTHING happens until you get there anyways. We will all have a few days to be with and talk to Gaby/Claudia and it will all fall into place. I love this forum because it has given me so many ideas and answered so many questions that I didnt even bother with Gaby! haha.. But yea, I think we will all have our own unique weddings and when we actually get there we will change our own minds from what we planned to have a year ago over email.
  4. HEY, this is good I'm glad to read I wasn't an odd ball. We got married last week and we're going to have our wedding at Dreams Cancun in two weeks. We legally got married on our 6 yr ann. I guess we say we're half married now haha..I am not changing my last name until we get back from mexico because of all the documents..and our ticket is in my maiden name. When I was deciding whether to do it before or after my WC at dreams said we could do a Renewal of Vows before.. so yeah you can For us, we're living in Canada and we heard theres often a lot of issues with weddings in MX and that we could possibly come back not married. I didnt want to do my blood work either down there.........and it saves us lots of $$.
  5. I am getting married in less then two weeks at Dreams Cancun. To tell you guys the truth, I have only picked out the locations of the ceremony/coctail hour/ and the reception. Everything else I'm going to do down there. I think its a lot better to bargain for deals and discounts when you get there because Gaby and Claudia will forget what you want and what you bargained for if you do it over email a few months before. They deal with so many girls that I doubt they even know what they say to all of us. So for whoever is getting married later on this year or next year - hold off on lots of details. Dont worry. Its such a beautiful resort, we've all heard and seen so many beautiful photos come out of it from all sorts of photographers.......I am just going to take picutres of what I want everything to look like...from cakes to hair&makeup to table arrangements.... Hopefully it all works out. *cross my fingers*
  6. Thanks JCOOP, hopefully she gets back to me soon. I hope she can do it for 2:00pm because a couple of weeks ago she said that was the only other time they have available. I think they should limit the weddings to max two per day not 3 or 4. I think that's insane.
  7. I am freaking out. My wedding is in two weeks and I have my ceremony booked for 5:00pm... I wanted to have it during sunset but I heard from some of you that the photos won't turn out nice because it gets dark so quickly. I need Gaby to respond ASAP and I hope she can switch out time for sooner. Has anyone heard from her in the last couple of days?
  8. We used ewedding.com It is super super easy..Its free, but you can get extra options if you choose to pay after. I highly recommend it! LanaAndStephen.com
  9. I LOVE IT. I talked to her too, but im still so unsure..I just can't picture it looking as beautiful and glamourous with only 30 people though?.. We'll see, it would be a nice thing to have after the reception..just for drinks and dancing. I'm thinking of using that DJ with the glowing dance floor so I think that would look nice with the lounge set. CANCUNBRIDE, thanks so much for the tips! LanaAndStephen.com
  10. I am planning on giving my guests little welcome bags when they arive and I just wanted to grab a poll of who is doing that & if that is common for destination weddings? I also dont know if I should give them to guests directly when they arrive or? Would you put it on their doorhandle the next morning?..For a guest list of about 30, how much would someone spend on each bag? And would favors still be given during the reception? LanaAndStephen.com
  11. WELCOME!. You'll love it here..Everyone is so helpful!! LanaAndStephen.com
  12. Thanks Jodey, I just emailed Gabi. I asked for a better rate on a weekday ..hopefully that can save us some money. LanaAndStephen.com
  13. OooooOOO I love that idea. Oh My God, I love this site so much. It's so exciting! =) Would you do that on the beach, and would Dreams make the beach area secluded to only you and your guests though?? LanaAndStephen.com
  14. I agree, I wish you could just switch things you don't want with other things you do..Or put it towards what you want.. And for a service of 30 how many tables would that be for the reception?? LanaAndStephen.com
  15. Yeah I wouldn't mind just a plain cake with some sage coloured ribbon on it.. Do we just tell them before-hand or when I get there?? ---- Thanks for the centerpieces idea..I figured they would have something but now I know to bring my own! www.LanaAndStephen.com
  16. OH! I deffinetly would like to know that too. What are you planning on using the lounge set up for? The cocktail hour www.LanaAndStephen.com
  17. Thanks a lot. It's great that you actually have photos. I just find it so irritating getting in touch with the WC at Dreams it gets discouraging.
  18. WOW... That is so outrageous!... I can't understand why they won't allow you to bring you own?? I am planning on bringing my own napkins... His and her flutes... Cake knife set... and the petals... I don't know if there is anything else I need though... Do we need to bring our own cake toppers? Since I haven't been able to get any photos of the cakes, I don't know if they just decorate them with flowers?
  19. So, I booked the Ultimate Package at Dreams Cancun.......but I am not quite sure what I need to bring from home to make it more personal and/or cheaper.? .. On their website it says that they charge you for each napkin if you want one! From napkins, to flower petals.. etc. So if there is any ladies that have gotten married there recently...what do you suggest we bring from home ? And what is a good add-on to purchase down at Dreams?? Thanks!!
  20. OH MY GOD. thats beautiful...How does someone go about getting that? Is it for the coctail hour or??
  21. Wow I would have never known there was a new menu without you guys! THANK YOU SOO SOOO SOO MUCH!
