I'm only going to wear it once so I don't want to spend a fortune on it.

I never considered that I would be taking more of their time...definitely something to think about. LOL...about your FMIL!!

We kept things simple by not taking suitcases full of OOT bag stuff. Instead we made small OOT bags and gave them out a couple of weeks before the wedding. We also didn't do a lot of DIY projects that we or our guests had to truck down to Jamaica. I made programs and that was it. Bottom line is that our wedding was simple and beautiful, and because we didn't have to worry about putting together OOT bags at the resort, delivering OOT bags at the resort, or making sure we didn't go over our baggage limit bc we packed DIY projects and wedding decorations, we were able to thoroughly enjoy every minute before AND after our wedding. Thanks! OOT bags was another thing I was worried about. I was thinking of not giving them out at all. I did not want to lug a whole bunch of stuff out of town with me. So I think it's a great idea to give them out before the wedding. I haven't gotten to the DIY stage, but I'm sure it will be fun. I'm looking forward to trying some crafty projects, especially if it can save me $$ in the long run.

  5. I'm nervous about this as well. I have not sent out STD cards yet, but I may just send them to people that I know will come regardless of the cost.

  7. Did anyone see last night's episode when the bride tore up her veil? So crazy that show is!!
  8. I'm sure some brides have had or are planning a small wedding for 10 or less. Are you planning to keep things simple since you have less people? I believe the bulk of my expenses will be travel and possibly photograpy. I'm having a hard time settling on a budget amount since I'm planning a smaller gathering. What are some of the things that you are doing to keep it simple?

  11. I love my job...mostly because A. It's what I love to do and have been doing for the past 8 years AND B. I can work from home 5 days a week if I like. I really love the flexibility and the pay is nice too!

  14. Hi Wenna, It's my understanding that the extra $200 is for an outside photographer only if he/she is from the Jamaica area. Any photog outside of Jamaica can take your pics as long as they staying at the Riu.

    Welcome, and congrats! Happy planning!
  16. Ms Wenna, since you, me and KHarrod will be at ROR during the same time you should seriously consider splitting photog's airfare/hotel 3 ways! She has a really good deal on DW, splitting that 3 ways is such a steal! I'm thinking of going with the same photog that KHarrod is using, it saves sooo much $$. Plus her pics are beautiful!! She's done at least one other BDW bride's photos @ ROR and they came out really nicely!
  17. The National Arboretum. There is an area at the Tidal Basin that allow weddings also.
  18. Me e ring is a cathedral set, similar to the one in your photo and I absolutely love it!
