    Hello

Welcome to the forum. I stayed at the Riu Negril earlier this year. Nice resort and in a good stop on the beach. It's on the end of the cove inlet so there is so much beach you can walk if you want.
  2. Congrats and welcome to the forum!
  3. I noticed a lot of the brides to be are doing legal ceremonies at home. Is that because you don't want to have to worry about getting everything translated and wait the 2-4 months back home to get your marriage license? I thought about doing that but my FH said what's the point in going away to get married if we're going to do it here as well. I've read so many different things about getting the marriage legalized in the US. Some say you just have to pay like $60 to get it translated and wait 2-4 months and then I've also read that you have to pay like $600 to get everything translated. I'm so confused with all this. For those of you doing the legal ceremony at home before you go do you still have to do the blood tests and everything? Are you still married in the US and Mexico or is it just a vow renewal in Mexico? If we just get married in Jamaica can we come home and get it legalized right away or is there still that waiting period.
  4. Congrats! I know everyone has already commented about them but those shoes are awesome! Way to go!
  5. The dress is beautiful. I think it's amazing how you can get a dress altered and it looks just perfect for your body and style. A sweatheart neckline will be amazing on this dress.
  6. That dress looks amazing on you! I just recently got engaged and we're not having the wedding until next November so I'm still in the thinking stage of what I want my dress to look like. I really like the traditional wedding dresses but for the beach I personally don't want a train and all that extra tooling and stuff. I'm hoping to find something without a train and that is light and flowy but still has the wedding dress look.
  7. Wow I could not imagine what you ladies are going through. I have been looking into Dreams Tulum but haven't made anything official because we just got engaged this past Saturday and decided on November 14th, 2009 as our wedding date. Our TA says to wait until January to start trying to book our date and location. So right now we're still deciding on a resort. I feel so bad that some of you might have to make other arrangements and have so many other people to worry about as well with family and friends joining you. Hopefully you have good TA's and they will take care of all that stuff for you.
  8. I would say talk to a TA first. They will be able to give you different ideas of resorts you might like and pricing. You can then narrow it down from there and check out the different threads on here to get more information about specific resorts and which one you like best. I think the TA will help you the best if you have a certain price range in mind for the airfare and resort. We were originally thinking about having our wedding New Years Eve but when we looked into pricing we realized it was not going to work because we don't want our friends and family to have to pay a lot of money to attend our destination wedding.
  9. Too bad your BM wouldn't understand the story if you told them about it. I think my friends would laugh about the whole thing and hopefully realize that I was just trying to buy something nice and not a Tiffany knockoff.
  10. My sister danced to I loved her first with my dad and it was great. Definetely will bring tears to your eyes but a great father daughter dance song.
  11. Forget about her and ask one of your parents to do the reading. You mentioned everyone else has gotten over the fact that you're not getting married in church so I would imagine one of them would be thrilled to do the reading for you and your future husband.
  12. I am looking at possibly booking my wedding at the Grand Palladium in Riviera Maya as well. When I was looking over their packages it seems like they do not have the free wedding options as many other resorts have. Does anyone have any information on this? We don't want to add a lot of additional expenses onto the trip itself since we will also be having a reception at home.

    Newbie

I'm still working on the engagement part. My boyfriend and I have discussed everything and know that we want to get married on the beach in Mexico. We picked out a ring together because he said he was not paying that much money for something I didn't pick out and I was going to have to wear it forever. I didn't agree at first but found looking at rings a lot of fun and changed my mind several times. The ring I finally decided on did not have a stone set in the middle so I don't know exactly what it will look like as a finished product so that is very exciting to me. Right now my boyfriend keeps telling me he's still saving up enough money for the ring I was but I know he's full of it and just pushing me off so I am not expecting it. So I'm pretty sure we will be engaged by the end of this year with a potential wedding planned for October or November 2009.
