  1. Yup..its happened to me many times (aka birth cert convo). The booking and securing the wedding was the stressful part for me. Hopefully its smooth sailing for you.
  2. Here is what I did. I booked my wedding date as soon as I could (I believe it was march). You fill in all the info (names, parents, witness names and secure with credit card). You pay the minister fee when you meet with Chandlyn ($350.00). You then have a three month grace period to have your room booked. We decided to do a group rate as well so that required me to get 10 people booked all at once to secure the rate (we did this end of may). Everyone needed to put down a 200.00 (with Sunquest) to secure it and the remaining is due in Dec. Hope this helps.

We just pay $190 each for taxes!! WOOHOO!!! I couldn't believe it...I didn't even know they had a promo going on!!! So needless to say I'm pretty excited!!! That's great. I am sure you will enjoy the cruise. I've heard they are a lot of fun and for only 200, you really can't beat that! Sure sounds you have a lot going on a big move then a wedding. busy busy girl.

You need a night out with the girls and away from the wedding crap. Have you done your bachelorette yet??
  6. It's great that you all match. Very nice pic of the three of you. Great dresses ladies.
  7. Sorry you are having to deal with all this :)Planning a wedding is not easy and everyone should be happy you are involving them. I don't think you are wrong at all. It really does sound like your sister likes to be the center of attention and this is your day!! Don't forget that. Talk to your mom. She has only one side of the story. Maybe take a week or so to let everything pass and then make a decision as to what you want to do with the MOH position. Making decisions when you are upset sometimes isn't the best decision.
  8. You'll be fine...this is suppost to be a stress free process. What's going on?

(as will all of you...although I know it's going to be hard without me there!! ) I have 29 guests booked, but I just found out from a friend that she cannot make it due to medical reasons (or possible med reasons). She has to cancel now in order to not to penalized...too bad it has to be so far away from the actual date!! She could be feeling better by then, but doesn't want to chance that she's not! Anyway...point being I will now have 28, but there are still some right on the fence! I only have 8 flying from TO...the rest are scattered; Edmonton, Ottawa & the majority out of Halifax (FI and I are both displaced Newfies!!). Oh...what fun we will have looking at each others pics & reading each others reviews when we get back! When do you leave for Jamaica?? We're leaving Jan 17th and not returning till Feb 1. I will have a review and try and figure out how to put pics on here. It's too bad about your friend. Our deposits aren't due till Dec 1 so I am surprised she would get penalized if she waited. Sounds like you have a pretty good group going though.
  10. Just a heads up ladies. Michael emailed me the new pricing for 2009 today. It is a different cost totally if you want to use him (included in bottom portion of sheet). It appears as though pricing has gone up a bit since last year. I am not sure how to attach it here but if you would like to see, I will send it to those that want it.
  11. It's too bad you're not coming to Jamaica Mon. You seem like a super person. The more the merrier...the day would be one big party forsure if they were three of us there (which may happened if there is a bride we don't know about). My plan it to enjoy my day, my new husband and party like i've never partied before. One last hurrah..*Lol* How many do you have going with you? when is your flight?
  12. Whew hoo..your wedding is a day after mine:) and its not far away now Your dress is absolutely gorgeous. Have fun at your fitting..You have the whole bridal shop watching you which was a bit weird at first. Its great to prance around in front of the big mirror though. I did mine today.

  14. This one thing I have had a lot of trouble with. I thought I would have tons of money with 10,000but am now struggling to make that work. I bet ours ends up being closer to 11,000 or 12,000.
  15. Yup, we travel lots and he always borrows his dad's luggage. Most of that is trivial anyway. Its the wedding day that matters.
  16. you pay when you have your meeting with chandlyn along with anything else you choose to upgrade.
  17. We are doing wedding gifts but scrapped christmas this year. None of our family including our parents on both sides aren't doing gifts. Jamaica is enough!! I think I may buy Brad luggage as a wedding gift..*lol* that way I can cram more wedding stuff in
  18. Christine - I sent mine on Oct via registered mail (cost 16 something)and it has already arrive in Jamaica. Send it the slower way. I would of waited till mid Nov if I knew it was gonna get there that fast. Now on to my fitting ..which is tues.
  19. Ellipse - it does say either. I copied info right off the Riu site and posted it in this thread. I think Jamaican's are just really laid back. Dinzers -i just sent mine last week and my wedding is Jan 22/09 but I was also taking into consideration the christmas season. They need to arrive in Jamaica one month prior (these r the requirements from Riu).
  20. Well, is it getting hard to sleep yet? Sounds like you have everything in order . Just the waiting... A question for you, we were having a discussion about our birth certificates being notorized. Which one did you send? short copy or long copy? We didn't see anything in posts saying which one and for some reason I got it in my head we needed the long one. If you could post the answer in "3month and paperwork sent" that would be great
  21. Thanks ladies. You guys made me laugh and have given me some good suggestions. I have a fitting for my dress on tues (she lives an hour and a half away) but I think I will invite her just so she knows I would like her involved. She's got lots going on and I think she just needs to feel that we want her around.
  22. *lol* well, when i hear someone being rowdy on the plane..i'll know who it is *lol*just don't get kicked off..i'm looking forward to sharing 22 with ya
  23. I checked on the riu site and it just said birth certificate. I sent the long one..I am hoping that works cause I don't see anyone else saying they used a long one. This is from Riu site Jamaica: Notarized copies of Birth Certificate Notarized copies of Passports or driver’s license Notarized copies of divorce papers (if applicable) Notarized copies of death certificate (if applicable) Notorized Documents stating name changes (if applicable) Notarized, written parental consents (if under 21 years of age)
  24. No prob. If you need help with anything else, let me know
  25. *lol* you are too funny Kayte...looks like you will have a major party on your hands for day 1 if you plan on starting that early. ick....red eye for your guests Amanda...that's definitely no fun! We had one like that coming back from dominican and there was a 2 hour delay. It sucked.
