  1. I would also be interested. I actually have one and they are pretty cool. I would need 25-30. Let me know.
  2. I bought the same bags. What I am planning on doing is having a BBQ the weekend before we leave and distributing everything then. That way we don't have to worry about bringing them with us. It also gives everyone a chance to meet each other since we are having about 40 people go. We do have some out of state'rs so we will have to find a way to bring their bags to mexico but it will one be like two bags.
  3. I wouldn't say coach is the best quality. Your paying to have a name brand purse. I had an expensive purse from there that pretty much fell apart. I was so mad b/c they couldn't fix it so they gave me a store credit instead of giving my money back and then I had to spend the credit all at once and I lost money on the deal.
  4. We did the partial takeover b/d we didn't want to additional stress of trying to fill the rooms. You can always have more guests than the rooms reserved. We are using Beth for the photographer she is keeping her 2008 prices for 2009 so that was nice. Her pics cost 3K but you get a all rights to the pics plus all imaged digitally enhanced on the DVD. By the way congrats on booking and yes I do live in Minneapolis.
  5. Suggestions huh? I just knew this was the place for me. I read lots of reviews and there were no negatives. I plan on doing a site visit this Oct. so I will get to see the place for the first time. The coordinators are great to work with and respond in a timely manner. It does end up being kind of pricey which is why went with the partial takover. More guests = more $ for the dinner, bar etc. I was also looking at las caletas but that really wasn't much cheaper. Let me know if you have any questions. We have already booked our week, the minister and photogrpaher and our wedding is not until Oct 2009. Good luck.
  6. I really want to do a trash the dress session, but my photographer is charging me an extra grand to do it. We are already paying an arm and a leg for our pics in PV. I couldn't believe it. I think we might just have one of our friends with a really nice camera and some skills take our TTD pics. Anyone else find have this problem with the price?
  7. I really like the first one too but i am worried about those with a larger chest. I know someone that works at jcrew so she is letting me use her discount...yay! I really like the material-silk chiffon. It is very light and perfect for a mexico wedding. Plus my dress (not sure if I am keeping it) is silk chiffon. Thanks for the input.
  8. What do you all think of this for the BM dresses? Silk Chiffon Juliet Dress - Dresses - Catalog/jcrew.com Exclusives - JCrew.com Or Silk Chiffon Sophia Dress - Dresses - Catalog/jcrew.com Exclusives - JCrew.com Keep in mind the wedding is casual and I really want the girls to want to wear there dresses again. HELP!
  9. Amy, Where did you get your starfish for the place cards?
  10. Hello, When I first signed up for this forum, I found that some had made a PV welcome booklet that I really liked. I saved the pics but never asked for the template. I would really like to get the template of this if possible, if she is still active on the forum. The Welcome Booklets say Paula and Jeremey 2.2.08. Thanks for all your help.
  11. Do you still have them for sale?
  12. Amber, Are you doing a partial or full takeover? I am really hestitant on doing a full as I don't want to get stuck footing the bill if we can't fill all the rooms.
  13. We actually booked Playa Fiesta last week so the in laws will have to pay to come into the resort and pay for all other activities that we have planned at the hotel. I will not be paying for it since we now have to invite more people to meet the minimum room requirement. Which increases our cost for the wedding. Plus the time share is 25 minutes away.
  14. Well my friends and family are ok with it b/c it is a vacation and their youngest daughter getting married. My FI family is another story. His parents have a time share at Mayan Palace in Nuevo Vallarta and a few of them are saying they will just stay there. It is making me so mad. I understand but the thing is..they can afford it and they are being really rude about it. Our friends are the ones that can't really afford it and they are so pumped about it. My best friend is getting married like two months before us and I have asked her numerous times if they can afford it and she keeps telling me yes. Why does family have to be like that? I broke down. I know its my day and I should do what I want (I already put the deposit down so we are doing it no matter what) but I want everyone to be together. Anyone else have problems with the future inlaws?
  15. We aren't inviting everyone to Mexico so we have to have a party when we get back. Everywhere is just so expensive. I would rather spend my money in Mexico. I thought brunches would be cheaper...but what I am finding out is that they aren't.
  16. Thanks for your responses. We want to keep the costs as low as possible when we return. The problem is, we live in a condo so our place is out for the AHR. My parents have a very nice house but it doesn't have a backyard. I have thought about renting a park with tents and heat lamps b/c it will be end of Oct. when we have it. We just thought that a brunch would cut down on costs. But....now we need to find a place to have it!!!!
  17. Hello, How much is to much to ask guests to pay to come to your wedding in Mexico? We are looking at Playa Fiesta in October which usually is low season but for 2009 they raised the prices so now it is the same as high season. The rate for 5 nights is $1540 per couple plus tax and room service fees (27%). This includes all breakfasts, 3 nights dinner, two evenings of entertainment and open bar during the visit. I have no idea what flights are going to cost... waiting on that. Is this too much? I am worried that some of my good friends may not be able to make it. Suggestion or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  18. Hello, My FI and I are trying to keep our guest list to a minimum for Mexico. We are inviting only immediate family, a few extended (hard to draw the line), and friends. We want to avoid inviting the annoying cousin, loud uncle and crazy aunt. I come from a pretty big family and I do want to celebrate with everyone but I want Mexico to be more intimate. My sister got married a couple years ago and had about 300 people attend her wedding. There is no way we could afford to do that. We are keeping our Mexico guest list to 40 of our closest family and friends. We have decided to have a party the weekend following our return to MN. We are already spending enough in Mexico so its hard to find a place to have a casual party in October. It will be to cold to do an outdoor party. We are starting to consider a brunch reception/party when we return. is this tacky? Will guests expect more? I just figure we would already have had our celebration in Mexico, why do through the whole dancing and getting drunk thing again not to mention the costs. If anyone has any suggestions or thoughts or if anyone else has done this I would appreciate your advice. Look forward to talking with you all. Megan
  19. How did you make your travel arrangements? It can get expensive booking the hotel and flight separately.
  20. Has anyone on this site been married at Playa Fiesta? It is a Wedding Botique hotel so only you and your guests occupy the hotel and the wedding welcome dinner and cermony/reception all take place right there. I am trying to get more information so if any is planning a DW wedding there please let me know.
  21. This is kind of a cute story. I have been playing tennis for almost my whole life so lets just say I really enjoy it. I hear the Pete Sampras and Roger Federer were playing an exibition match at Madison Square Garden in NY. My boyfriend at the time and were trying to figure out if we could afford to go. I was out of town for work and he called me and said they he bought the tickets and were going. We arrived really late at night so we just went to bed so we could get up and start the day early (neither us of have ever been there). We woke up to room service and then headed out to explore. We did a lot fo shoppping (well window shopping) and the finally headed over to Central Park. We were just walking around then came up to a hill and he said lets go up here. I though it was for the scenery? Then I turned around and he was down on one knee. It was a dream come true. We had been dating for almost five years. The best part...on top of getting engaged, the next day I was going to watch my childhood hero play tennis. What a guy...

    Hello

Hi all, My name is Megan and I just got engaged last weekend. I plan to tie the knot in Mexico. I was dead set on getting married at Las Caletas but then found Playa Fiesta in Puerto Vallarta. We are currently trying to make the decision. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great. I am looking at a wedding in October 2009. Look forward to speaking with you all and getting ideas. Megan
